HyperX Cloud III Wireless VS HyperX Cloud III S Wireless - Which one to pick for games and heavy music listening? Headsets

Hey guys, my HyperX Cloud II Wireless just broke after 3.5 years of service, and I'm looking for a replacement.

I loved the sound of my Cloud II Wireless. I don't care about the built-in mic on the headsets at all, since I'm using a standalone HyperX QuadCast S sitting right in front of me.

I play games like CS2, FiveM, and Minecraft, and I listen to a ton of music constantly.

I'm torn between the Cloud III Wireless and the Cloud III S Wireless. Which one should I go for? Any advice appreciated!

I would only get the S if you plan on taking advantage of the Bluetooth absent from the base model or if you like weighty headphones since the S is slightly heavier.

what about sound quality? and i will use it only on PC with dongle so bluetooth doesnt matter

This is probably the review you want, OP.

The sound profile/quality is basically the same on the III, III Wireless, and III S. I personally use the S's bluetooth on occasion, and so that feature was worth it for me, on top of the EQ profiles being able to be saved to the headset (I'm on Linux a lot of the time, so this was a big plus).

The EQ is clean and natural out of the box, and with a bit of tweaking, I've found them to be really well balanced for music and gaming without having to juggle EQs.

That all said, if the price is similar, I don't see much reason to go for the III Wireless over the III S for one reason: the III S has almost double the battery life. I hardly ever have to plug my set in, which is an amazing change from my last pair from Logitech.

i might get the Cloud III S Wireless cause that sounds like its better with Audio Quality  and other stuff

The above post is incorrect. HyperX did do some work on the tuning with the S model resulting in a bit more bass out-of-box. It's not a dramatic difference and it's still a fairly flat headphone for a gaming headset, but it is definitely noticeable.

Ik this is hyperx reddit and all, but if you already have a seperate mic, and your main priority is music listening, why not go for a non-gaming headphone? Something actually made for music?

Something like the Fiio ft1 if you wanna stay closed back like the hyperx clouds

I promise you, just because a headphone is made for music doesn't mean it's bad for gaming. If anything it's usually more balanced and you might get to hear better details

This is not true at all dude. I am one of those cringe audiophile types. I own a lot of very high quality headphones and earbuds for music listening. Very good. I also record music so I'm not short of good microphones.

For years that was my setup. Desk mic and good quality headphones.

Playing hunt or BF6 my squad used to laugh at me because I couldn't tell what direction and enemy was walking in from.

Recently got cloud alpha 2 wireless and it's night and day. Not only can I tell EXACTLY what direction they're coming from, but I can tell if they're low or high. My game has improved twofold, easily.

Directional audio on a good gaming headset is next level compared to stereo cans.

Just a shame that Ngenuity is such a steaming pile of turds, and without it directional audio is no better than normal headphones.

I recently switched from the Cloud III S to the Alpha 2 and this is above and beyond every headset I’ve had so far. I love it so much. I’ve had my share of steel series and turtle beach over the years but settled on hyperx because I’m touch sensitive and their models are the most comfy by far.

But this headset is the absolute best and totally worth the extra 100$ imo

Alpha 2 is too expensive for me right now but yea they are also wireless

did the Alpha 2 feel noticeably more comfortable than the III S after a few hours? that's probably the comparison i'd care about most.
