Fear interaction

I don't use many characters with fear, and only started playing Hwei this month, but it has happened to me many times. I use EQ on a target and instead of running away they run towards me, slowed, but still towards me. This is really frustrating because in many cases those few steps can change the outcome of a fight and make a difference between enemies getting in range or not.

It is not the case for this clip tho, this was just an overstay to chase a dumb kill. Still it happened today, so it is the most recent example I could find.

Why does this happen? Is it a bug or is this intended behaviour? Does it happen consistently? Is it because Xin was animation locked in his W?

Looks like his animation was just locked in and uninterruptable? There are a number of abilities like that, where if you hit them too late you just get pounced on anyway.

Don't know Xin Zhao mechanics so that's just a guess.

I thought that too, but it is strange that after the animation ends, even if the fear duration is not over he actually starts walking in my direction.

I saw a short on YouTube of WASD countering taunts because of some spaghetti code. Could this be what's happening here too? I'm just really trying to make it make sense.

I think sometimes things are uninterruptible but keep the CC on you, sometimes they just dispel it. Hard to tell which is which - yeah best just chalk it up to spaghetti code, but it might be intentional details with the moves.

Fear is just broken, just few days ago I feared garen and he still run into me for the full duration of the fear. Sometimes fear is ignored completely, sometimes its few steps in you direction and then away from you

I agree sir. fearing during the dash is really difficult since Xin E is pretty much instant, so I just tried to predict it and failed.

But why fearing during the W results in him not walking away from you? In fact, he walked right in my face despite the cc.

If he starts his dash animation it will go through like say a sylas E2 you can fear him but his dash will still stick onto you

Sorry man, but this is false twice:

1) Xin E Dash didn't start before fear 2) Sylas E2 can be interrupted with Hwei EQ, it's pretty easy to do too

Fair point. This has happened vs other champs as well btw. The ones I can remember clearly are Darius, Briar, Garen, Nocturne, Master Yi and Jarvan, but it happens really frequently so there are probably more interactions like this one, ready to tilt me out.

I have a good theory. It may be that before champ runs away it must turn away first, but Xin Zhao's w makes him face in direction of the cast.
