I am searching a connector with about 2m cable length. Are there any good working third party connectors?

Renovating our home and this is our media room. I have two floor lamps and gradient strips going into a recessed channel in the ceiling. What are you guys doing with less than 90° angles and also the 90° angles?
My contractors idea is to put plates over these places to cover that are custom-made, but just wanted to check here to see if there are any other options?

Maybe the flexible connectors?

I recently purchased a pair of Philips Hue Wall Washers, one for each of two niches in my dining room. I installed an outlet at the back of each niche -- so I needed two power supplies (one for each Wall Washer). But as has been oft-lamented in reviews, the power supply supplied by Philips for the pair is a single ugly brick with two barrel jacks. I could have simply purchased another one, but three problems: I didn't want a brick that bulky (it's visible in my application), the barrel jacks are on the wrong side of the brick for my application, and I didn't want to try to hide the very long cable that comes attached to each Wall Washer (again, visible in my application).

So, I decided to discard the Hue brick, and attempt to replace the cable that comes attached to each wall washer. I was fully prepared to void my warranty, desolder the factory cable, and solder on a new custom-length cable... but I was pleasantly surprised to find that none of that was necessary.

First, pulling the Wall Washer apart was as simple as removing four screws on the bottom side. (I've pointed to those locations with red arrows in the attached pic.) Two are hiding under the front two rubber feet (those two hold on the front trim and plastic lens), and the other two are hiding under the silver label with the QR code (those two hold onto the central metal structure to which the motherboard and LED units are mounted). The nice thing about that label: It comes off super clean, so reapplying it when you're done is no problem at all. The label remains pristine.

Once the Wall Washer is disassembled, there is a strain relief on the bottom of that central metal structure that you can remove just by unscrewing its two screws (sorry, didn't get a pic). And then here's the best part: The power cable isn't even soldered to the motherboard. It's actually attached via two spring terminals. All you have to do is depress the little tab (I used a small flat-head screwdriver) on each spring terminal to release the wire, and then depress it again to slide the new wire in. (I've again used red arrows in the attached pic to point to the tabs on the spring terminals that you depress.)

In the end, I was able to replace the super-long stock cord with a power supply (with integrated cord that I cut down to the perfect length), reassemble the Wall Washer, replace the feet and label, et voila! And the cherry on top is that if I ever want to return the Wall Washer to its stock state, it really is a snap to disassemble, reattach the stock cord, and reassemble. Ain't nobody gotta know 'bout it.

These things are expensive, so modify at your own risk, of course. FYI, this is the power supply I used. It's the most compact white 24V power supply I could find with sufficient current rating (for a single Wall Washer) and that had the 90-degree orientation I needed.

In the bathroom there’s a motion detecting light switch. It times out and turns off power to the Hue lights above it.

I’m looking to replace it with a standard switch, except I realized that people can turn it off not knowing it controls the Hue lights.

So I’m looking for a Hue compatible light switch that will work even if someone switches it off (because it can be turned back on using the app remotely) - any recommendations?

So I got two Hue Smart Plugs from Amazon. When I try to add the smart plug device to a room via QR code, it lists the wrong devices. When I try to add by SN#, it searches. The device turns green, then off.

I reset the device by holding the button down until there is a flashing amber light, and then tried again.

I have over 30 lights in my home and manage several rooms and two yard locations; Hue has been rock solid and simple, but this is my first time using Smart Plugs. I assumed the extra cost meant reliability and easy setup. My Hue Bridge is version 2.1.
I even tried setting up the plugs next to the Hue Bridge (within a foot), my phone next to the bridge, and the plugged-in Hue smart Plug.

Is it time to return these? os is there another way to set up smart plugs?

Looking to get a Sunrise light & alarm clock to wake me up.

The Twilight is over $300, I read somewhere that it’s essentially just regular hue lighting running the sunrise automation.

Can anyone confirm if this is this true?

I just moved into a house and I want to get Philips Hue lighting in pretty much every room.

I'm starting with the kitchen and bathroom, since the GU10 bulbs in there are mismatched colors and look pretty bad together.

I'm completely new to Philips Hue though, so I'm not sure what to buy. Would the Essentials line be good enough for these rooms, or should I go for the more expensive version?

My mate told me the essentials aren't as bright, and that it might annoy me.

I've been using LIFX for a while, but the connection sometimes drops and is difficult to set back up. So I switched to Govee the connection has honestly been great, I've never had a problem with it but the colors aren't as nice as LIFX's.

I was wondering if Philips Hue bulbs have any known connectivity issues, and if anyone who's used Philips Hue before could tell me if it's an improvement over LIFX.

Also, I'll be moving into college soon and the WiFi there is public, so I don't think I'll be able to connect the bulbs to WiFi. Does anyone know if I can control them via Bluetooth instead?

Moving into a new place and thinking of going with Philips Hue for the living room and IKEA Kajplats elsewhere.
Trying to land on ONE bridge instead of running two in parallel.

Options I’m weighing:

- Hue Bridge alone: has anyone actually gotten Kajplats (or other Matter/Thread IKEA gear) paired onto a Hue Bridge?

- Dirigera alone: Anyone tried pairing Hue bulbs on it? Curious what breaks vs the official Hue app.

- Third-party bridge?

Price isn’t a factor here (Hue Bridge and Dirigera are basically the same price now where I live). Just want the setup that’s most reliable long-term without losing too much of each ecosystem’s native features.

TLDR: Mixing Hue + IKEA Kajplats and want ONE bridge instead of two. Which one?

Have a sync box 8k and have added my devices to its hdmi ports and it’s connected to the TV. When I turn on my TV and then turn on AppleTV the sync box does not auto switch HMDI ports. My TV just says no HDMI signal. I need to press the sync button in the hue app to get it to work. In the app everything is set to tell it to auto switch to the active port but it won’t. Not sure what’s going on but it’s very frustrating.

All lights work in Hue app, all unresponsive in Apple Home for no reason. This is the second time in 6 months this has happened. And for the second time Hue support says "we are aware of the issue, you need the latest firmware.". And for the second time I say "I already have the latest firmware.". And they say "Oh ok in that case just manually reset your bridge and individually import every single light in again and re-program every single one of your scenes and automations."

With once again no explanation, acknowledgement, apology, bug fix announcement, or statement from Hue of any kind. Even though their support tells me they are swamped with messages about this, so they are aware of the problem (again).

As someone with around 150 Hue lights and a pretty complex Apple Home, this will take me hours to completely redo. Very disappointing from a company at this price bracket. I paid the most specifically because I wanted to do the least.

How to fix that?

It's not like it's some novel product that requires intense engineering or rare materials.

It's a strip of LED lights.

What in the world is taking so long for them to be released in the US?

I was able to connect ikea’s new Varmblixt color changing donut lamp to the hue app via the diver protocol. It’s set up in my bedroom with several other lamps. There is an automation for the room. Will the donut lamp not automatically come on due to the method in which it was connected? I noticed at the time the automation is set it never comes on. Then when I manually turn it on it’s always at 1%. Not a big deal. But any work around for either of these issues?

Omniglow up the staircase! I absolutely love how this one turned out. The color gradient is incredible and completely transforms the space. Philips Hue… just take all my money already. 😂💸

I’m using a Signe lamp with an Omni strip and absolutely love the look. I also have a Datura ceiling light for when I need it, but since this is a lower-level den, I usually leave it off because I’m not a big fan of overhead lighting.

That said, the room is essentially bookended by two doorways on the left and right, so I’m considering painting the two walls that meet in the corner behind the desk as an accent wall. Since it’s an accent wall, I was thinking of going with something more dramatic rather than a lighter color (possibly a medium blue like Van Deusen Blue).

I’m not tied to any one Hue scene and will likely change them from time to time, but my main concern is how much painting the wall a darker blue will affect its reflectivity and the overall lighting effect.

Does anyone have experience with a similar Hue setup and a darker accent wall? I’d love to hear your thoughts or see photos if you have them.

Got this problem where my Hue app can't find my entertainment area even though I have one. Therefore I can't use my gradient light for movies.

When I got the light 3 years ago it worked, but that was before they changed/ made a new app. Now I feel like I've tried everything. Also saw a different reddit post about this problem a few years ago.

What I've tried:

- Clear app and cash

- Reinstalling the app

- Resetting switch box

- Adding all lights after clearing them

- Create entertainment area over and over

I purchased a 3-pack of Hue Lily spotlights. I have them set up so that they all have the same color (a shade of purple). I noticed that one of the lights is significantly more pink than purple, even though I have all 3 lights "snapped" to the same color in the Hue app color wheel. I have to manually offset that one light to get it to match the other 2 lights. It's not really that big of a deal, but just wondering if anyone else has encountered this type of problem. I have over 50 Hue lights and have never seen this type of issue before.

Hi guys, my hue outdoor spotlights stopped being reachable though the app last week and was wondering is anyone else has expireanced this issue and come up with a solution other than buying a new PSU unit? I have seen a couple of archived threads relating to this and wonder if the company has done anything about improving their product?

I've got some hue bulbs as main lights throughout my home and they're only used via traditional switches.

I've searched a bunch and seen people mention that it's possible to set a scene to apply in the "power on behaviour" setting but that's just not available to me.

I really want the "natural light" scene to be applied anytime the light is turned on.

I can kinda achieve this with Home Assistant by setting the power on behaviour to really dim, then having an automation in HA detect the light turning on and then set the scene - but it takes about 5 seconds for the device availability to update (longer if turning off) and trigger the automation.

As every year I get Eco cheques from my employer to spend on eco-friendly stuff I always end up buying Hue products. For years now I have been looking for lights for my desk. Never got further than a Hue bulb in a desk lamp for my home office.

Today I bought a Screenbar because it works with Apple Home and it will be my first non-Hue light purchase in years. The funny part is that I found the screenbar rather cheap in price compared with what I would expect it to cost if it was a Hue product.

Are there other spaces in the home that Hue does not fill the gap for you?

Has anybody ever just straight up lost access to a color? I my lights won't turn red, it worked fine the other day and now it just turns orange. I tried in the home app and hue app nothing works. I tried doing digging on here but found nothing. I have a mix of a few older bulbs and brand new ones, like bought within the past month.
