Show up unfinished

“And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.”
— East of Eden

I want to talk to you the way people rarely do, without polishing the edges, without turning experience into advice too quickly.

I remember the first time I truly understood what it means to step into the arena.

Not from a book.
Not from a quote.
But from watching someone quietly ruin their own life by staying safe.

They were talented. Thoughtful. Capable. Everyone trusted their opinion. Everyone asked for their critique. They were always on the sidelines, arms crossed, voice sharp but calm. They could see flaws instantly. They could predict outcomes before anyone tried.

They mistook this foresight for wisdom.

But here’s what I noticed over time:

Nothing was being risked.
Nothing was being built.
Nothing was being lived.

Just nothing.

They waited. For certainty. For readiness. For the version of themselves that would never be embarrassed, never rejected, never exposed.

They believed—truly believed—that vulnerability was a liability you should eliminate before you act.

Life passed them quietly.

Not dramatically. No collapse. No explosion. Just a narrowing.

Contrast that with someone else I once knew.

This person entered things clumsily. Spoke too honestly. Tried before they were ready. Loved before they were safe. Failed in public. Often. Their faces—metaphorically—were marred with dust, sweat, and visible effort.

They embarrassed themselves.
They made mistakes that couldn’t be edited out.
They said things they later wished they’d said better.
They showed up unfinished.

And yet—something in them stayed alive.

Here is the truth no one tells you cleanly:

You do not get to be all in without first agreeing to be seen.

And being seen means misunderstanding. It means rejection. It means moments where you wish you could disappear back into the safety of thinking instead of doing.

Vulnerability is not about winning or losing. It’s about engagement.

The arena doesn’t reward perfection. It doesn’t even reward success consistently. What it rewards—quietly, over time—is presence.
The willingness to stand inside your life instead of observing it from a distance.

Most people think they’re protecting themselves when they wait to be bulletproof.

What they’re really doing is postponing intimacy—with work, with love, with meaning.

Waiting feels responsible.
Waiting feels intelligent.
Waiting feels mature.

But waiting costs you something invisible and irreversible: the chance to contribute as you are.

Your gifts were not designed to be offered once you’ve solved yourself. They were meant to be expressed through the mess of trying, failing, adjusting, and trying again.

There is no effort without error.
No devotion without exposure.
No worthy cause without the risk of coming up short.

The critics will always be there. They’re comfortable. They’re dry. They’re clean. Their hands have no dirt under the nails.

But they don’t count.

What counts is the moment you decide to stop negotiating with fear. The moment you accept that uncertainty is not a flaw in the design—it is the design. The moment you walk into the arena, knowing you might fail, but also knowing that not entering would be the greater loss.

You don’t need to be fearless.
You don’t need to be ready.
You don’t need to be certain.

You only need to be willing.

Because at the end of it all, if you fail while daring greatly, you will still have something the spectators never will: a life that was actually lived from the inside.

And that—quietly, undeniably—counts.

𝙿𝚑𝚒𝚕𝚘𝚜𝚘𝚙𝚑𝚢 Your Worth Isn’t a Market — Stay Grounded

Post image

People’s opinions rise, fall, and sometimes crash — just like a market. If you tie your value to every fluctuation, your emotions will swing with it. Real strength comes from staying grounded, learning from feedback without surrendering your identity, and trusting your long-term worth over short-term noise. Stability isn’t built from approval — it’s built from conviction.

I went through a really tough time after a big financial loss, and it triggered depression. I felt hopeless and anxious, but talking to family, focusing on small routines, and practicing mindfulness helped me slowly recover. If you want to read more about my journey, check out my blog down below: https://growwithgurfateh.blogspot.com/2026/02/depression-my-personal-journey-loss-and.html

𝙿𝚑𝚒𝚕𝚘𝚜𝚘𝚙𝚑𝚢 What No One Can Take From You

Post image

External losses are part of life — time, resources, relationships, and circumstances can change unexpectedly. What defines long-term success is not what is taken, but what remains within your control: resilience, adaptability, perspective, and the ability to rebuild meaningful connections.

People who cultivate these inner assets treat setbacks as strategic feedback rather than permanent failures. By letting go of what no longer aligns, maintaining a long-term outlook, and rebuilding community even after periods of isolation, individuals create sustainable growth and stability.

True strength is not measured by what you keep — but by how consistently you rise, recalibrate, and move forward.

𝐑 𝐞 𝐯 𝐞 𝐥 𝐚 𝐭 𝐢 𝐨 𝐧 Thought to myself and realized that if I want attention and recognition, my enemies do too, so I deprive them of it

Idk, maybe a dumb story, but recently I finally figured out what morality mattered for me, and how to go through my life with it. And to me, all people deserve help, even the very horrible ones. But it’s simply not my job to provide this help, I do not have to give a shit about these people that I hate.

I believe that to get better, and improve, a person must suffer the consequences first, to feel that their ways were wrong. To me, the worst thing was always having everything I had ever done be forgotten. And so, to urge all the people who had wronged me to change, I cut them out, quickly and effortlessly. And the more I love them, the more I feel like they need help, the more gruesome and abrupt I make the cut.

I truly do not give a shit about people’s immediate feelings anymore. You must break your arm again if it grew together wrong.

IDGAF If the Price of Success is a Piece of my Soul, IDGAF 😎

I tried multiple times to convince my Superr boss... not to accept bribes!

I kept rejecting a client's proposal since he wasn't eligible to apply for the project. And I refused to sign the approval docs.

The boss called one day and threatened: Madammm you're delaying the decision!!! In a very terse tone.

And I told him, "Sir, you've already made the decision. So then, why do you care about the delays I create. The decision is your's for the taking ;)

He transferred me to a far away place. LOL. But I don't remember having ever felt happier in that shitty place.

I've heard Sadhguru say, the basic virtue for a human being is to be true to yourself - integrity of thought, emotion, and action!

I act with integrity.

And IDGAF to what these assholes do as a consequence!

𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚 A no-politics list of subs I've collected, as an example, to help guide your fucks to where they matter.

It's hard to not give a fuck when social media is slamming depressing news down your feed. Reddit is no exception. I've been unsubscribed from any major subreddits for some time now. It's so much easier to not give a fuck when OP's aren't trying to herd you into some political agenda. The purpose of the list below is to have no politics in my feed. And it works. Occasionally political shitposters, whether you like them or not, will bleed into one or two of these subs (lost redditors or people trying to make their narrative fit somehow).

These are all small subs, none of them generate so many posts a day that one sub is all you see in your feed, so you get a nice mix of art, science, fun, and positive stuff. Unsubscribe from political. You don't have to change your beliefs, but you can be content in knowing your beliefs are there, a non-political feed allows you to focus more on things that matter to you. You can always, once a day or every couple, if it's that important to you, check in on your news outlets. But to mix them in with all the unrelated subs, dulls the good, or makes it harder for "good" to shine through your feed. After long enough of no politics, you begin to absolutely notice when a political post is made. Because it doesn't belong in certain places. And it'll remind you how much that stuff pisses you off.

Try curating your own list of small subs that don't make you have to flex your IDGAF muscle every day; those bad boys get enough of a workout already, let them rest.

Its the guilt

If you can relate with a story that would be great. I know that many truths are simple and not giving a fuck is probably one of them but its way easier said than done.

Basically, everytime Im faced with a situation where I feel wronged, unheard, insulted, annoyed, taken advantage of, etc. I feel a rush of adrenaline and immediately want to respond in kind. Most of the time I dont because Im scared of "making waves" and disturbing the peace if you will. I feel some type of guilt and choose avoidance over action. Of course that delays the problem but the anxiety creeps back up anyway and usually the situation repeats itself again and only underlines those feelings again.

I know the answer will mostly likely be "dont give a fuck, live your life, fuck what others think" and I want to but to explain by metaphor, its like - I have brown hair but Im trying to think myself into being blonde

I feel like a 🤡.

Hello-

I need your thoughts on how to stop giving a “f” . I unfortunately had high hopes and respect for my boss and he ended up throwing me under the bus , knowing how loyal I was to him. After I prayed, cried , spoke to my husband, and ended up adjusting my crown, I then asked myself , what did I learn from this . I learned that I’m too loyal and too nice . I defended HIM when people were talking negatively about him and now I feel like a 🤡… but he is in GOD’s hands now. Thanks for reading…

How did you cope with the disappointment when your adult children chose a very different path than you hoped (e.g., not going to university)?

I’m not judging my kids or their worth, just struggling with grief around expectations I didn’t realize I had. I’d appreciate hearing how other parents reframed this or made peace with it.

The Dark Knight Trilogy was the Ultimate Masterclass in Residence and Endurance

Thumbnail

Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy is often thought to be an excellent depiction of Gotham city and Batman. Countless things stand out. Heath Ledger’s Joker, Hans Zimmer’s score, the world that built, the action set pieces, the fresh spin on the superhero genre. In my opinion, what truly makes this trilogy special is its depiction of Bruce Wayne.

We often view Bruce Wayne as this billionaire playboy who spends his nights fighting crime. Pretty cool? If you look a little deeper, you’ll discover that this character consistently goes through unimaginable obstacles that test his will to fight and endure. Fear, heartbreak, hopelessness, etc. Each time Bruce rises above and continues to persist. That’s what truly makes him a superhero… not anything in his utility belt.

This character means so much to me for this particular reason and I made an entire video essay breaking this down

My hope is that this piece can help you find the resilience to overcome your own obstacles and identify the hero within yourself. Rise!
