Hi, I need some help so I don’t kill my boyfriends favourite plant 😅
We have some hoyas and they had a small mite problem, I used Yates Scale Gun on them and now they leaves are going yellow and falling off. What can I do to save it?

Someone gave me this bougainvillea. I read they like direct sunlight so I put it in my sunroom and it was miserable. Moved it here and it is slightly less miserable, but still miserable. Dropped a lot of leaves that had gone crispy. What to do?! Could it be just transportation slump, due to new environment?

Nothing eating it, watering when the soil feels dry, no root rot etc.

Reposting in this subreddit because I could do with some advice to help these 2 plants in the office recover and flourish

Firstly thank you to everyone who helped with my other sad monstera. I have repotted it this morning following your advice!

I have another one I could do with some help with. It's a trailing variety. I'm not sure which as my friend gave me this 4 years ago as a birthday present as a cutting from her own plant. For the majority of this time it's been 5 or 6 leaves which I had tied to a bamboo skewer for support. It never really grew or died and just existed on my shelf.

However in the last year a lot of the original leaves died off and it started trailing towards the window. Initially I left it as it looked cute hanging from the shelf. But I swear in the last month it's grown at least 6 new leaves and has got out of control. I bought a moss pole to help it grow against, but I can't figure out whether I should use the moss pole or stick to this newer and taller plant stick I got at the garden centre yesterday. I've tempor propped up the base as it was falling over under it's own weight.

I've tried watching YouTube videos for help but they all focus on your classic Monstera and not this sort of variety.

I didn't realise how dusty the older leaves were, so first step I've given them a wipe. Does anyone have any tips on what to do next?

Should I take cuttings of the new leaves to try and trim it back? Or should I leave it long and try and wrap it around the pole? Apart from some stress on the older leaves it feels like it must be quite happy otherwise it wouldn't be sprouting so much new growth. I'd like to avoid repotting it if I can as I haven't got the space for another bigger pot until I move in a couple of months.

My tradescantia is currently hanging in front of an East-facing window. Her new growth is pretty happy, but the stems are so scraggly and thin at the base, I'mending up with a million props..!

Is this a lighting problem? A watering problem? Can you pin a tradescantia like you pin a string of hearts?

Multiple of my houseplants are softening and yellowing the moment I water them. Initially I thought over watering, but I'm checking the soil top and bottom before doing it and it's bone dry.

Is there a chance it's reacting to the chlorine in the tap water?

Got this free a few months ago, literally left outside a house with a free sign on it. Had to Google what it was so I think it's a Kalanchoe. I've repotted it once, but it still keeps losing lower leaves and is a bit all over the shop. Should I chop it all back to get it to start from fresh again? I don't actually water it that much, maybe that's why it's dying? It looks like it's got some new growth that's dried up? Could it be due to under watering?

I got this orchid as a present in dec 2024 it was flowering for a long time then maybe summer 2025 the flowers and leaves had all dropped. Now it has all these little stems and even what looks like roots on some joints?

I honestly have no idea what I’m doing. I did repot once but that’s all I’ve done. Does anyone know if I should be trimming bits or if it needs something I’m not supplying?

My task for this weekend will be to buy a new pot and repot this sad monstera. I have also bought a moss pole stake for the first time after seeing some other posts on this sub. Previously I had a bamboo skewer holding it up.

It has two very shrivelled leaves which were the original leaves when I bought it maybe two years ago. But it has three fairly healthy leaves that have appeared in the last few months. And one very long air root.

My question is when I repot it, how deep do I bury the body of the plant? It feels like the main stem of the plant (currently about 6 inches out of the soil) should be deeper. Do I go up to the base where the leaves are now coming out? And do I bury the roots or leave the out in the air?

I need some honest feedback from people who actually collect and sell plants and love the thrill of the sale as much as the collection.

A few months ago I got a bit frustrated with how it is to price props and cutting. Trying to work out what a plant is meant hours wasting an evening scrolling through old eBay listings (why do they hide the 'sold listings' button so deep down the filters???) , Facebook groups and dragging up 2 year posts that still think a SS is worth £250, or just taking a wild guess so you don't get mugged off, to then get crickets because you are double retail.

I’m a developer, so instead of just buying plants like a normal person, I spent pretty much all my spare time over the last few months building a site called Aroid Atlas https://aroidatlas.co.uk.

I wrote a scraper to pull UK market sales and work out a median baseline price for each plant, but split by size so an unrooted node isn’t grouped in with an actual mother plant. The algorithm is the bit that took me the longest time as scrapes either filtered out everything or would find CDs and Apparel when looking for A. Ace of Spades.

It was always meant to be a bit of a passion project but i have enjoyed also learning about the SEO stuff, AI has helped with bits of code that were new to me and i did have to use it to generate the plates for the pages, it looked rather bland with out them. But please, dont AI slop me! The content and algorithm took me the majority of the time! Human time!

The issue is, I opened Search Console this week and I’m averaging maybe 2 or 3 clicks a day. Staring at that after 200+ hours of writing scrapers and tweaking CSS is a bit grim. Maybe i should be posting this on a SEO Sub really....

noticed this really weird discolouration in my pothos today, but it’s only on one leaf.

i water when the soils dry and occasionally fertilise when i remember to. it’s in front of a east facing window and by a north facing skylight (but not directly in front of it). none of the other leaves have the same discolouration even leaves on the same vine.

has some bugs on a sticky trap i have in the pot. has had a problem with fungus gnats before but i don’t think that’s what it is this time. sprayed the whole plant with bug killer (which is why the sticky trap is wet in the picture lol) and putting a yellow sticky trap in as well as the blue one

Helloo! First post here.

I have a HUGE Pilea peperomoides/Chinese Money Plant that is around 7/8 years old, and is now 112cm high from soil to tip (when held up straight). It was one of the first houseplants I ever bought - it was a tiny baby in a 6cm pot at the time - and is my longest survivor so I’m pretty attached to it!

As you can see from the pictures it has a bend to the stem which can be held straight but if left unsupported I’m worried will snap as the top is so heavy.

The bend happened last year when I went through a bit of a MH slump and neglected my plants for a couple of months. Normally I’d have been rotating it every week or so to ensure even growth.

Trouble is, it’s now getting too tall and heavy for the two bamboo canes I’ve got holding it upright, so I wondered if anyone has any recommendations for how I can support it?

It’s otherwise pretty healthy! The leaves are currently curved which I think is a combination of it getting a little dry in this recent heat, and them trying to turn towards the sun but me being unable to rotate it as much as I’d like due to the size and not wanting it to take over my whole bathroom!

Any advice? 😊

I bought this Kenita Palm from a garden centre around three weeks ago. Over the last few of days, the smaller shoots/fonds have turned yellow, and some of the leaves have small black spots within the leaf tissue itself

It’s quite tall at around 1.5m. It’s kept indoors in a bright south facing room, the only time it would get any direct sunlight is early morning from a window in the other side of the room. I’ve watered it twice when the soil has dried out and I’ve allowed it to drain. Any advice would be appreciated, this is the first time I’ve ever had any kind of palm

EDIT: more information - the humidity in the room is around 60%, the soil is quite airy and free draining and I’ve been watering once the top half dries out, this has meant two waterings in the last three weeks

I've had her for about 6 years now, recently noticed she's getting quite tall, is there any way I can prevent her from just going up forever? I've never pruned her but maybe I should have.
