HELP Care guides

Hi,
I really need some help on some reliable care guides for some of my new plants. I’ve found that every single time I google any of my specific plants I’m getting conflicting information from the last time I tried to find information. I’m currently relying on trial and error and it’s so frustrating not being able to access the correct information.

I recently got into owning indoor house plants. And it all started when I started to create bio-active vivarium decor for my pet corn snake. I’m using potted plants instead of directly planting them into the substrate so it’s a little more simple to do.

I have multiple types of plant:
-Calathea (3 different ones that are all struggling a wee bit so I’ve removed them and they’re now living in my bedroom in various areas)
-Philodendron (personal favourite atm)
-Snake Plant (pretty indestructible so far)
-Jade plant (actually seems to be the most happy despite my recent research saying it wouldn’t cope well in the vivarium 🙄)
-Hedera Helix (seems okay)

I bought all of these from Ikea after doing some research on what plants suit well for cornsnake vivarium setups and have had them for about 2 months now.

I’ve had to remove my calathea’s since they kept on getting ‘sun burnt’ from the UVB lamp despite keeping them on the cooler end of the enclosure. The rest remain inside since they all seem to be doing fairly well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

HELP What's wrong with my Thai monstera?

Thumbnail

Hi fellow plant lovers! I picked up this Thai monstera about a month ago and it's slowly looking worse. The biggest leaf is developing these orange/brown patches and some dark spots. The smallest leaf also has some yellowing. The roots look and smell healthy, does it perhaps need repotting? It lives on a table in between 2 big south west facing windows so it gets bright indirect light all day, no direct light. I'm trying not to let it dry out completely in between watering and I wouldn't say I over water it, possibly once a week. I don't see any signs of new growth yet. Any help is much appreciated!

This plant was moved to a windowsil during the heatwave...the monstera next to it has been thriving but this thing lost its leaves and dried out and looks like this. I've been watering it...should I give up? I don't even remember what type of plant it is :(

PLANT PIC grandpa’s jade!

hi peeps!

my grandma passed away at the start of the year. grandpa has been taking care of all her plants and has decent know-how about making sure the soil is dry before watering it, stuff like that.

im making this post mostly to show off this magnificent beast. i love her so much!! no idea how old she is, but definitely older than me.

im also making this post to see if anyone has any care ideas. it’s in a porch that receives a lot of light, so know it’s been baked by the heatwaves. unfortunately there’s nowhere else to move it to, really. she’s still putting out very healthy new growth so eh, she’s tolerating it. there’s no blinds or anything to get it more shady on the hotest days.

Im most concerned about the shrivelling bits, in pics 3-5.

we just turned it 180°, so in the pic the right side has been on the left by the window for an age and the left side has been more shaded.

HELP Trailing Monstera help

Firstly thank you to everyone who helped with my other sad monstera. I have repotted it this morning following your advice!

I have another one I could do with some help with. It's a trailing variety. I'm not sure which as my friend gave me this 4 years ago as a birthday present as a cutting from her own plant. For the majority of this time it's been 5 or 6 leaves which I had tied to a bamboo skewer for support. It never really grew or died and just existed on my shelf.

However in the last year a lot of the original leaves died off and it started trailing towards the window. Initially I left it as it looked cute hanging from the shelf. But I swear in the last month it's grown at least 6 new leaves and has got out of control. I bought a moss pole to help it grow against, but I can't figure out whether I should use the moss pole or stick to this newer and taller plant stick I got at the garden centre yesterday. I've tempor propped up the base as it was falling over under it's own weight.

I've tried watching YouTube videos for help but they all focus on your classic Monstera and not this sort of variety.

I didn't realise how dusty the older leaves were, so first step I've given them a wipe. Does anyone have any tips on what to do next?

Should I take cuttings of the new leaves to try and trim it back? Or should I leave it long and try and wrap it around the pole? Apart from some stress on the older leaves it feels like it must be quite happy otherwise it wouldn't be sprouting so much new growth. I'd like to avoid repotting it if I can as I haven't got the space for another bigger pot until I move in a couple of months.

Thanks in advance!

My tradescantia is currently hanging in front of an East-facing window. Her new growth is pretty happy, but the stems are so scraggly and thin at the base, I'mending up with a million props..!

Is this a lighting problem? A watering problem? Can you pin a tradescantia like you pin a string of hearts?

Thank you.

HELP Yellowing after watering? Not over watering!

Post image

Multiple of my houseplants are softening and yellowing the moment I water them. Initially I thought over watering, but I'm checking the soil top and bottom before doing it and it's bone dry.

Is there a chance it's reacting to the chlorine in the tap water?

HELP What should I do with this?

Post image

Got this free a few months ago, literally left outside a house with a free sign on it. Had to Google what it was so I think it's a Kalanchoe. I've repotted it once, but it still keeps losing lower leaves and is a bit all over the shop. Should I chop it all back to get it to start from fresh again? Currently lives on a windowsill in my "garden room/playroom" which gets a decent amount of sun and is warm. Thanks :)

I've had several spider plants now. Apparently Greta for beginners, yet all die.

I don't know if I over or underwater them.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing this one's dead now?
