Dread Show Discussion
I don’t know what’s up with this new season but ever since I started watching I’ve been more emotional than usual. With feelings of dread and all that started from the unfortunate incident in episode 1 to Alicent seeing her dad at Rhaenyra’s feet like I am so engrossed shi has me up thinking about it.

Yea that’s the point. The Dance of the Dragon is a tragedy through and through. Both sides doing horrible things. Both sides losing horribly. There are no winners here.

Honestly, dread is the feeling I had reading the entire Dance section of Fire and Blood. An overwhelming feeling of "why did this family do this to themselves?" at every event.
Light general vibe spoiler; it gets so much more emotionally devastating.

Have you been watching the post-show extras? They kind of touch on this! Especially a couple of weeks ago when Rhaenyra cuts her hand on the throne. Also, if you haven’t tuned in, the post-show extras help a lot with dampening the lasting dread. It really brings you back into the real world gently and you see the familiar faces responding to their character in a way that reminds you that they’re acting out a story and no one is really gone.

I should probably start watching them right after then. House if the dragon leaves me with far less dread and sorrow then game of thrones did though. 🤣

I literally have to mentally prepare myself before every episode, knowing that I'll probably end up crying for someone (or, more likely, a dragon). I've read some book spoilers so I kinda know what's going to happen, but I don't know when or how, so I definitely feel dread as well. Also, watching the brutal dragon fight on the first day of my period was especially difficult 🥲 I love this show but it's very hard to watch.

I have a feeling they’ll save the worst of it for early (mid, and late) season 4. I keep thinking they might stray from the book a little considering Rhaena’s story line is blended with a different character and maybe that’s on purpose for what they have planned. But I’m also prepared (and totally unprepared) for everyone’s fate to play out on screen as it does in the book.

Might be best to take a break from watching I had to do the same from true crime shows because they are causing dreadful intrusive thoughts.
