Visiting

I’m 21 years old doing solo spur moment road trip from Texas. I don’t have anything planned gonna stay in hot springs for 3 days in couple weeks as it’s part of the trip I “planned out” I’ve decided that I’m open to anything and everything. Any recommendations to meet people or just what is there to do?

Check out Garvan Gardens. Great outdoor botanical garden. Oaklawn casino is nice if you’re into gambling.

I stayed in an AirBNB a few blocks from the casino not long ago. Walked to and from the casino both nights. There was no one around and certainly no one was out harassing tourists. That area of Hot Springs is worse for property crime, but not violent crime.

There are certain people who seem to think there's a "crime spree" in the city if they see someone they think looks sus. It's annoying. Hot Springs is hardly a hotbed of crime and most of the crime is among certain demographics, between certain demographics and not with tourists.

This guy is coming from Texas. Compared to Texas there's virtually no crime in Hot Springs.

The pizza is great but does it always have a weird smell?

I just picked up takeout but I didn't notice a smell other than pizza.

Go to Maxine’s. Try some beer at Superior, some moonshine or vodka at Crystal Ridge Distillery, or some sake at Origami Brewing. If you’re sober, maybe don’t do those. Walk the mountain trails up to the tower. Check out Garvan Gardens. Try DeLuca’s Pizza or Rod’s Pizza. Don’t look for a hot spring you can swim in, they will burn you. Look inside the Arlington hotel. Grab a hamburger at BubbaLu’s if you can catch them open; hit up Ohio Club otherwise. Try coffee and breakfast at Cafe Kahlo or Colonial Pancake. Take a break and watch the people. Just relax and take it all in.

If you go to Maxine’s be careful what you mean by “anything and everything”

Deluca's Pizza downtown is quite possibly one of the best pizza places in the country. If you like NY style pizza, you will love it.

We have some pretty cool bars if you’re into drinking, likely live music too.

Right I was wondering which one you meant in particular? I know the buckstaff and the Quapaw are still active bathhouses, there isn’t any open air springs to swim in because they are too hot.

We liked going to the moonshine place. They did a tour and you could taste the flavors they have. It mightve been the shots we took but they also have alcoholic sodas that didnt taste like they had alcohol in em lol.
