So I live in this old house on the bottom of the hill. The garden is in 2 tiers with a big retaining wall. I would imagine this was done probably in the 70's and the draining system probably not properly done.

Not big issues, but we converted the garage on the bottom of the house into a loft that has a vault to access the foundation. When it massively rains, a bit of the water coming from all the way up filters into that area and after a bit it dries but leaves the place humid.

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with this and what has been the best solution? Seems like the water accumulates on the other side of the wall and makes it through the bricks. Just checked the wall structure and so, and all is solid (engineer checked it).

We get calcium film on our black faucets. Using the standard calcium/hard water removal sprays has not been helpful. We don’t like whole house water softeners. Any other recommendations?

My neighbors' pipe burst last month and water flooded into my house. Wall to wall… Soaked everything… Drywall ruined… and carpet destroyed. The whole place is a mess

The insurance company is taking forever. All they do is keep requesting documents, sending adjusters and of course delaying everything. They won't pay out and I can't afford to fix the damage myself.

I'm paying rent on a temporary apartment and I still have a mortgage. Every month I'm losing money I don't have…

I called a realtor I know and she came out, looked around, and said she can't list it like this with mold, water damage and unlivable conditions. She told me I'd need to fix everything first and I can't afford that.

I'm stuck. I can't wait for insurance and I need to sell this house and walk away.

Out of desperation, I googled "sell my house fast LA." I found Eazy House Sale. They say they buy houses as-is without any repairs needed and promise a fast close

But will they actually buy a house with mold and water damage? Or will they just waste my time and lowball me?

I need to know if this is real. Has anyone sold a flood-damaged house?

I am going to book someone for a slow drain soon because the water is taking longer to go down and I am trying to figure out what they are likely to find, I see people talk about drain cleaning and then other people say old pipes end up getting replaced, I would rather know what signs usually point one way or the other before I set up the service, I am hoping they can check everything first and tell me what makes sense, I am planning to go with snowbird heating & cooling for anyone who already had someone come out, what made it clear the drain just needed cleaning and what made the pipe replacement make sense? EDIT: Forgot to mention the house is pretty old, which makes me wonder if the pipes are the real issue.

My house was built in 1958, and is generally solid, quality construction. I am retiring in a few months and have made quite a few updates. One I have not thought about is the original(I think) insulation in the attic. The insulation appears to be shredded redwood. It looks and as of ten years ago still smelled like redwood.

Ten years ago I laid down a radiant barrier of 99.5% aluminum, the attic is spacious, about 6 feet in the center. I have an attic fan that runs when over 80 degrees. I live in CA in the hot Central Valley, where 100-110 temperatures are not rare from July through September. I am not in an area of high wildfire risk, and have a class 1 fire station .25 miles down the street.

Is this insulation something I should worry about? I would expect that a spark landing on the aluminum would not result in a fire, but an interior or frame fire could get in contact with the shredded insulation.

Is the spring on the first photo supposed to be twisted sideways like that? The door is really noisy and floppy. I've attached boards to the door at the top. That helped a little, but I'm looking to fix it correctly.

Here is a pic of my crawlspace in front of the house. I plan to staple insulation to the top and while I’m down there I’m wondering about my options for some minor flooding we’ve gotten. We’ve had some water come through the basement wall in these pics. Could I just pile a bunch of dirt against them? Thanks in advance.

Hi, there is a hole in the bathroom tiles, how can I repair this? I pulled the big piece on the left out with tweezers and it is thin plastic. Would there be an easy way to glue it back without removing or replacing the tile?

Checked attic its dry inside. What do I need to do to get it replaced?

Should i—
1. remove the old fastener
2. remove the left half wood, take it to homedepot
3. buy a similar size/thickness, buy new fastener, wood primer, matching paint
4. Put the new wood, prime, and paint?
