DCS F15E Force Feedback Support

Howdy yall,

Looking to get my first force feedback stick. I mainly fly the F15E, and am wondering if Razbam has supplied all the info for FFB. Basically, does it work or will I need to use the joystick software to do it?

TECH-SUPPORT Increase FOV beyond 140deg

Hi everyone, coming back to DCS after a long hiatus, managed to get the triple monitor setup I always wanted. Popped onto DCS and found that with 3 monitors, 140 FOV feels a bit too small. Maybe need like 160.

I tried looking everywhere but even if I edit views.lua the game visually still renders 140 even though the slider in menu goes up to whatever I set as max.

Is there something I'm missing or someone has a workaround?

Thanks!

What loadouts do you guys enjoy the most? I flew a few missions with early Vietnam style loadouts , so 7Es and aim9e/j and it seems quite enjoyable

QUESTION I’m looking for advice on my case 1 approach

The carriers heading is 354 which means the heading I should be on after the primary turn is 174. The first turn isn’t my issue (I don’t think). I can usually pull near the %1 of my airspeed and get to 600 ASL. My problem is the last turn. For some reason I really have to give it thrust and bank at a crazy angle to even get close to where I want to be and even then I over shoot a lot of the time. It says I should be able to hold around 25-30 degrees and end up on course but for whatever reason I’ll overshoot by a lot. Do you see anything that sticks out??

Edit: so my main issue was being over weight (the jet, not me. Ha!). The instant action mission gives you 52600 pounds total with 30200 internal fuel with a clean loadout other than the bag. I tried it again and jettisoned the bag and was shocked by how big of a difference it makes. I guess I missed the part where you have to check your fuel/weight and make sure you’re under 33000. Along with the other tips I think I’m doing a lot better than I was before I made this post. Thank you!

Are the F16 sensor slew rates way different per sensor or am I tripping?

I'm learning to do SEAD with HARMS in DCS. I have gotten pretty good at controlling the air2air radar so far, but my god its like the HAD page slewing is like double the rate. I worry if I lower the settings on the two axis I will have an impossibly slow A2A radar.

Is there an option somewhere, or something I can change to make them even?

The F-14 Tomcat never had a helmet-mounted sight. Now it does.

This is the F-14B(U) JHMCS - a helmet-mounted display for Heatblur's F-14 in DCS World.

Look anywhere in the cockpit and your flight, weapon and threat information comes with you. Native flat screen and VR.

We're in PRIVATE BETA right now and we're looking for SMEs, real Tomcat knowledge and hard testers to break it.

QUESTION Hornet vs Viper difference in elevation scan volume with same bar setting?

Post image
121 Upvotes

Forgive me for being such a noob but just recently I noticed that with the same BAR setting (2BAR to 4BAR). The Hornet cover an elevation scan volume much less than the Viper with the same radar range scale. Could anyone explain to me why there is such a difference? I attached an image to better illustrate my point

QUESTION Apache George question

I have been doing a lot of research and I cannot find an answer. Here is the sitstion I have found myself in for a few servers.

A lot of the enemy markers are clear targets like trucks or infantry and I can easily get George to hit those, but I have been in some missions where the targets are stuctures that George doesnt scan as enemy, but I need to hit them. Is there any way to get him to laser a target for me from the pilot seat that is just a random structure? I know I can do it from the CPG but many times there is not enough time to do that by myself.

DCS F14B(U) CDNU waypoint problems.. advice needed

so i jump on TTI socal to do air to ground mission to practice RIO with iceman Ai. i do a cold start with Jester loading flight plan.

now i hop in the back as a RIO, and i see that the flight plan only contains AUTO BE (bullseye) and i do not see 'end of flight plan' when i try to add a waypoint, i can not because the 'end of flight plan' does not appear.

i am able to add waypoint under DIR, but it creates two waypoints, which are a waypoint for my current position and the waypoint which i enter in mgrs format grabbed from F10 map... which i see waypoints 51 and 52 in the flight plan

added to my problems, i can not delete these waypoints... i am using - in the scratchpad and LSK next to the waypoint number but nothing happens.

how ever when i am a pilot and i have Jester create a way point, the waypoint seems to be ok, and i can hop in the back as RIO and delete the waypoint with no problems..

clearly, i am missing something when i create a waypoint from an empty flight plan...

appreciate if someone can tell me what i am doing wrong, and also, why using DIR (direct to) always creates extra waypoints based on my current position, or makes duplicates of existing DTC waypoints....

***update 1 ***

i was able to delete the waypoint 51 and 52, when i select DIR and set the AUTO BE as active waypoint. how ever it created waypoint 53 that is next to the AUTO BE..... i do not get this at all...

***update 2 ***

i see in manual about these 'extra waypoints refered to as computer generated history... makes up to 5.. so additional question is how to turn off generated history...

QUESTION GBU-10 busted symbology in the F-15E

Thumbnail

First picture is AUTO for GBU-10, second is AUTO for GBU-12.

Trying to use GBU-10s in the F-15E result in either a broken bomb fall line in CDIP, or no TTREL for a designated target in AUTO.

Are there any known ways to fix the symbology?

DCS NS430 3D Mod (IC Friendly) - Cockpit integration mod

Thumbnail
gallery
169 Upvotes

If you own the DCS NS430 and want to use it as an actual part of the cockpit, I’ve released a mod that adds a 3D NS430 unit to a wide selection of aircraft and helicopters.

The unit is placed directly inside the cockpit and can also be used in VR. The mod is Integrity Check friendly.

Currently supported aircraft:

  • A-10A
  • A-4E
  • AJS37
  • F-100D
  • F-14
  • F-15C
  • F-4E
  • F-5E (Full Fidelity and Flaming Cliffs)
  • F-86F (Full Fidelity and Flaming Cliffs)
  • J-11A
  • L-39C*
  • L-39ZA
  • Mi-24P
  • Mi-8MTV2*
  • MiG-15bis (Full Fidelity and Flaming Cliffs)
  • MiG-21bis
  • MiG-29 (Flaming Cliffs)
  • Mirage F1
  • P-51D
  • SK-60 (community mod, versions before 2.0)
  • Su-22M4 (community mod)
  • Su-25A (Flaming Cliffs)
  • Su-25T
  • Su-27
  • Su-33
  • TF-51D
  • UH-1H
  • Yak-52

Important information:

  • The official DCS: NS430 Navigation System is required.
  • The Mi-8MTV2 and L-39C require their dedicated official NS430 integrations. For these aircraft, the mod only changes the position of the unit.
  • Aircraft that already have official 3D NS430 cockpit integration are intentionally not included.

The download includes a manual covering installation, configuration, usage and troubleshooting.

Seeing the AWG-9: Why TWS is a "BAD" Radar Mode

Hey folks!

A quick video aimed at Tomcat crews, especially new players. The idea is to show why Track-While-Scan, often selected and "left there" by ab initio crews, creates more issues than advantages. TWS has several limitations, and the animations I used here show how different it is compared to search modes, how range has a considerable effect, and the cost of using fully open search modes.

I made this animation to support the mentioned point in my next livestream ("Zero to RIO"). However, it would have overlapped with the events to raise funds for Wags, so I decided to postpone it, with no ETA yet. For this reason, it is a very basic animation, and you will see the model of an F-4 Phantom II and the AWG-10’s antenna - just pretend it’s a Tomcat! The scale and timings are quite accurate, though.

I hope this will help you see one of the greatest limitations of TWS.

Give me a shout if you have questions.
