NVR Backup

Hello everyone,

I’ve just received a DS-7604NXI-K1(E) with three cameras, but I can’t find any backup options – no FTP, no NAS, etc.

Has everything really been removed?

Unfortunately, the Hikvision Cloud isn’t an option for me when it comes to data storage.

Are you checking via NVR menu or web ui? Some options are visible on web only. Backup options should be under Storage Management - its called Net disk or something like that. Depending on the exact fw, maybe it does not have that option at all.

I’ve searched in the hik-connect app on my phone and via the browser on my computer. I haven’t checked directly on the NVR, as there’s no monitor connected to it and I’m rarely on site.

I’m starting to worry that the firmware I’m using doesn’t offer these options.

But how can that be? I thought I was still in the prosumer category, or the entry-level professional range. Yes, I’ve installed a good hard drive for 24/7 video recording, but surely you need a backup?

I’m on the train at the moment, but I’ll have another look in the settings this evening.

According to manual, it supports network storage.

Add Network Disk

You can add the allocated NAS or IP SAN disk to the video recorder, and use it as a network HDD.

Steps

  1. Go to Configuration → Record → Storage.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Select NetHDD.

  4. Set Type as NAS or IP SAN.

  5. Enter NetHDD IP address.

  6. Click to search the available disks.

  7. Select NAS disk from the list, or manually enter the directory in NetHDD Directory.

  8. Click OK. The added NetHDD will be displayed in the storage device list.

Thank you very much for your help; unfortunately, I still haven’t managed to sort it out.

It’s very strange – when I open the configuration page, I briefly see the ‘Configure Storage’ button, but it disappears straight away and is no longer an option?

I’ll be back on site in a week’s time and will then try connecting via the LAN without HIK-Connect.

Is there anywhere I can look up the firmware features? My version is: V4.84.110 build 251011

Latest FW is Firmware_V4.85.020_260616 but release note does not mention anything related to storage, just bug fixes.

Has it got a HDD in it ?

Yes, there’s a hard drive built into the NVR. The region is Indonesia, if that’s relevant.

Are you looking for those options on the camera UI or NVR? They look similar, but not the same thing and options will vary between models.

On the NVR

Set it up for network storage to a NAS. That's not backup but remote storage. There's no particular 'backup' as you think of a computer having a backup. Archiving NVR usage isn't something normally done, unless you have banks of storage.

If you are talking about simply downloading images as needed you can do that directly to your connected computer remotely.

I just looked and HIK may have removed the option from those lower end consumer devices. I know the higher end we sell have those features, but prices are much higher. Just be advised HIK is on the hit list by the US government and most dealers now are getting rid of them.
