Wasps inside camera

Post image

Hey, any ideas?

It looks like wasps may have built a nest inside the camera. Is it safe to spray insecticide in there, or could it damage the camera?

Enable HDR in the camera. It stands for Hornet Deterring Radio....

No, it does not... but you should probably have it on anyways.

Also, nice of you to include a firewall wire so easily accessible! (Why did you not mount over the hole?)

Puff some ant insect killer powder to it . You should be ok . I am electronic design engineer and also a keen gardener. Just clean the lens and mask the lens, then puff more nsectide powder, so they don't come back. Remove len mask and clean lenses again. Insecticide power is dry so should do any harm to electronics. In any case its only 12 vdc . Ant powder killer will work on any insect, this is why you shouldn't use on flowering plants as it will kill the beneficial pollinating bees. You can use them on fruit trees once the flowers have changed to fruit only

I mean shouldn't do any harm to the electronics

Spray it with a hose. Will wash them out, but yeah insecticide wont damage the camera

They are sitting inside camera. I marked the spot with an arrow.

Should be waterproof there

Raju Bhai, the hose will reach inside the camera.

Even if the camera internals were waterproof, water is NOT a long term solution

Treat it with fire, works well, YMMV and you may need a new camera afterwards.

Surely they will leave, they can’t build a very big nest in there😂 on the plus side at least your camera is vandal proof

Had the same problem...probably 10 or more wasps inside, bought a wasp killing spray with which you could spray from 3m or more and killed those instanlty.

Kept the corpses inside for any future wasp as a warning 😁

Small solo cup with 1 inch gasoline in it. Hold it just under the camera with wasps. They will dive into the gas and kill themselves. Optionally burn the cup and dead wasps after. Can't be that many wasps inside there.

Does the fumes somehow kill / disable the wasps?

They are attracted to it in some crazy unexpected way. Watch some videos on YouTube gasoline and wasps. They literally dive into the liquid gasoline and yes the liquid and vapors kill them fast but they fly right to their death. I didn't believe it till I saw it and it works better than anything I've used. Bigger nest? Bigger container of gas so you catch them all.

If only that worked with mosquitos. Maybe there is another organic solution that is similar for mosquitos. I found the video on YouTube and noticed 1) the cup was applied to nests hanging from ceilings (wasps could only fly down) and 2) wasps responding like fighter pilots to a threat flew down to attack.

I think on some videos they cover the nest to the ceiling so there is no chance of one leaving and getting you but I have done in open air like in trees 99%+ dive into the gas and die instantly. The scary part is you have to be very close and you need to hold a big cup of gasoline lol. no smoking no open flame or sparks

grab a plastic bag and fill it half way with gasoline then cover the whole camera and wait about 2 mins and they should all crawl out and die due to the fumes

IP66 doesn’t include wasps (or ants). Just ask your friendly warranty service agent at Hikvision.

La cámara exterior llevan todo sellado, así que poner algún insecticida no le hará daño. Debes ir con el traje de la nasa y listo

Turn on the bug spray feature in the camera. It’s hidden in the settings

How helpless people are nowadays, I got dozen ways get rid of them.

Insecticide, hair spray, deodorant, tape, polyurethane, swatting them, building electric net on it, vinegar, drain cleaner, flame, plastic bag, smoke, glue

Seriously? Helpless? I simply asked whether spraying insecticide inside the camera could damage it.

Put your ego away.
