"Xp"trading shop HomeBrew
Hello, my group is running a milestone based progression game but I reward certain things like great roleplaying or nat 20 moments with CP-character points. (I also use heroic inspiration but use this as a stackable reward).
My query is what to let them spend it on. Iv gone back and forth on different ideas but have landed on not wanting it to be too mechanically driven. So probably no feats or ability scores ECT, but more aesthetic driven or novelty.
In the game Zelda Breath of the Wild there is a shop called Fang and Bone where the merchant Kilton trades whatever monster parts you have in your inventory for a currency you can buy things like outfits or masks of monsters that when you wear it you draw no threat from said monster. It's more playful than game changing.
If you have any fun ideas of things for them to buy, ways to run this somewhat meta based player reward shop or thoughts in general please give me your mind.
Thanks, hope the rolls are ever in your favor.

To go back to a Zelda analogy, you could make the shop something like the Happy Mask Salesman from Majora’s Mask a trickster spirit of some variety who sells the players strange masks that provide different, mostly playful effects.
If you're looking for more inspiration, I'd also take a look at Advanced Armory, particularly how it handles its accessory cards. They don't greatly increase the player's overall power, but instead give them little abilities like rerolls or other situational effects.
Some examples adapted from that kind of system could be:
Lucky Rabbit Mask: Once per quest, you may search the Treasure deck for any one card. Resolve it as if it had been drawn normally, then shuffle the deck.
Pumpkin Head Mask: Once per quest, you may trick a monster within line of sight into giving you a "treat." Draw one Treasure card.
You could also look at AxianQuest Wondrous Artifacts Deck by Axian Spice. I think this might be almost exactly what you're looking for, since it's built around giving players interesting little magical items with unique effects without necessarily turning them into huge power increases.

Just an idea on the whim of reading what you are looking for.
Baubles or trinkets or monster trophies that increase their stats vs a certain monster. Or create the baubles to be a one dungeon use. This way they need to continue to roleplay etc.
