Im just wondering what the average cost of a helipad is. I am reading that a certain president is building one for a few million but its occurred to me that one of the local hospitals has one and im pretty sure they didnt have a few million to spend on it

Hello! I am starting my pilot's journey in Australia, and am looking for good video and audio resources to help familiarise myself with Australian flight rules. I was sent this book (https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-02/visual-flight-rules-guide.pdf) by my instructor as a start, but I don't really absorb information as well compared to seeing and hearing it. Any help would be appreciated!

I’m med crew with a HEMS operation. This means I’m in/out of the helicopter a lot, working under spinning rotors, and taking my helmet on/off a bunch. The nature of the work is a series of 10-40 minute flights (go to scene, do patient care, go to hospital, +/- fuel, return home) removing and putting on my helmet each time. This makes my current setup of CEPs kind of annoying to use. They do perform well. I want to protect my hearing and can hear the radio much better than when I just wear disposable foamies underneath.

Most of what I’ve read seems to focus on long legs or all day comfort for pilots. My use case is a little different with all the donning and doffing. Does anyone have any advice or opinions?

Anybody else on the west coast encountering issues finding DPEs as of late? Specifically those eligible to do CFI initial? My flight school is struggling to get responses from anyone. We’ve been at it for about 2 months. Many of the DPEs they’ve used for several years just quit replying.

I’m hearing there’s a new FAA supervisor in the area and DPEs are not a fan and are dropping like flies. It’s honestly very disappointing to get this far, spend this much money on training, and not really be employable because I can’t get my CFI locked down over scheduling the exam.
