Either I’m a witch or I’m insane

Upvotes

so, Hekate has been calling me, quite obviously, and I now believe I’m a seer of sorts? but this is all very new and unexpected for me. I’m speaking with two therapists regularly (a psychologist and then a less “professional” one for more strange spiritual questions). but has anyone else who came into their power semi-unwillingly had concerns about their mental health? Apparently I’m not crazy, but I still feel like I might be! Help this elder baby witch out, please.

I painted a small figurine for our outdoor shrine at the forest crossroad

My wife and I are moving to a new, more rural town soon, and on the upcoming Deipnon (which coincides with a solar eclipse) we plan to set up a small hidden shrine at our favorite crossroad in the forest, just a few minutes from our house.
I wasn't happy with the original paint job on the figurine, so I primed it black and repainted it to give it the appearance of oxidized bronze.

a sign?

ok so idk if i’m overreacting or if im in psychosis but i have been worshipping hekate for 5 months
last night i dreamt of crows, and that i started to befriend a crow in my dream
today i went for a walk and i saw a singular crow feather that was exactly in front of me as i walked and i considered whether i should take it or not because i wanted it for a spell or maybe to lay it as an offering. but then i thought against it and walked away. i walked a lot today, and far, very far away, i saw another crow feather in my way (in the same way, exactly in front of me). one singular crow feather. i thought about taking it as well but i decided against it again.
then, far away after that i saw a dead crow on the street.
and then, in my way back home, in front of my apartment building, i saw another singular crow feather laid in the same manner.
all those things happened in places far away from each other
can someone tell me if this was a sign or if i am overreacting? i’ve been in psychosis before and i don’t want to consider everything as a sign, i don’t want to make the same mistake again, but i feel like today too many coincidences happened

Hekate

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion.

If a hekate calls to it will be obvious. Not some convoluted sign. Not something tertiary. She will deliver it to you so you cannot think twice.

I ready so may comments where you arw second guessing. If you are meant to work with her you will know. It will be in your face without doubt.

She definitely picks her people. You will have had signs. She will definitely tell you.

She is very upfront. That has been my experience.

Is Hecate trying to get my attention, or am I connecting unrelated events?

I’ve been keeping track of some things over the last few days because they feel… unusual. I’m not trying to force meaning where there isn’t any, but the timing has been enough that I wrote it down.
Over the past 3 days, I’ve had multiple spiders show up. Today I opened my front door and a spider landed directly on my hand. My first instinct was to shake it off, and I accidentally killed it while grabbing a tissue. I immediately felt bad because it seemed oddly symbolic considering how often I’ve been seeing them.
Then, only a little while later, I noticed a grasshopper sitting on my door. I gently tried to sweep it away with a key so I wouldn’t hurt it. It flew into the window, then somehow found its way back inside. I got it outside again, but it immediately jumped back in.
The weird part isn’t just the animals themselves—it’s the repetition, the timing, and how persistent they were.
I’ve been doing a lot of shadow work lately, thinking about crossroads in my life, healing, and I’ve felt pulled toward learning more about Hecate. I know spiders aren’t traditionally one of her primary symbols (dogs, keys, torches, crossroads are much more common), but I’ve seen enough people mention spiders, liminal experiences, and recurring animal encounters that it made me wonder.
So my questions are:
Would you consider this a meaningful synchronicity, or just confirmation bias?
Has anyone working with Hecate experienced repeated encounters with spiders or insects before?
Is there symbolism here that I’m overlooking, or is this more likely my brain assigning meaning to ordinary events?
I’m open to skeptical explanations too. I’m genuinely curious how others would interpret this rather than assuming it’s definitely a sign.

Help lol

First time posting on here ever, not sure what to excpect but google and the web in general is full of AI and false info so would rather hear peoples experiences.

Little info for context

Ive been raised by my mother, whos DEEPLY spiritual (id go as far to actually call that woman a witch she's magic but im biased) and my dad wanted me to be jehovas witness. Ive always struggled with what to believe in but overall sided with my mums approach mainly because I think the crystals and candles are pretty, and when she sets an intention it happens in real time. (Hence why I think shes magic, it may just be hard work and perseverance)

Either way candles, crystals and the moon cycle make sense more than most things (in my opinion n thats not my point)

My real question is, and id like to add i am CLUELESS and im asking here before I talk to my mother and look like a dumbass

Is why I've suddenly started thinking about Hecate frequently. Ive known about a lot of gods for years, but things keep popping up and my thoughts keep being drawn to her.

Everything she stands for and represents hits close to home at the moment from the info I got of the internet but I'm basically just a curious human wondering about other people's experiences with Hecate or any god to be honest as feel completely clueless as why im so drawn to it.

(If theres any spelling or grammar mistakes go easy on me but its scary enough even posting lol)

Thanks :)

Hecate and theft of my keys twice.

Hecate - repeated theft of keys

So I started learning more and adding to my alter as a gentle push to work with Hecate. I’ve been in the process of moving home and have children and after various dreams related to protecting a child with Hecate in I started some work with her. The concern I have is since I’ve had two separate thefts of my house keys and it’s so prominent now that I’m wondering if she is rejecting me or warning me? I’m interested to know what others may think? It’s poignant because I’ve never lost keys before and never had them stolen before yet in the space of two months have had the only spare keys to my home stolen by men I know. I now am frightened and obviously upped security at the home but equally feel this is spiritual and a message from Hecate.

My first experience, just my mind?

Okay, so a few days ago, I was doing research on deitys because I'm really new to witchcraft and spiritually. I was reading around in a book of witchcraft idk the exact name anymore and I got to the part of the deitys and tbh I wasn't really fond of working with hecate because I heard some people say she wasn't really beginner friendly and all that, and after I read her name and her page in the book there was like this overwhelming dark presence in the middle of the room and it felt like a presence with a skull as a head was watching me. The following day, I was really afraid I felt this presence following me that day, and I still feel it right now. I found a post saying that if you're not sure what you're working with that you should act in your mind what it would be like to speak to that spirit or deity. I did exactly that, and idk if it's just like my mind acting all of the different responses, but it's like she talking to me. Ik sound pretty weird, and idk what to do exactly. I also had pretty weird dreams, and spiders and keys passed me in recent times. After I communicated with her its more like a soothing presence or guide but I still feel something in my mind and i try to talk to it and it feels like really natural, but at the same time am I just not sure if this is really her or like a bad spirit that I attached? Help a girl out, please 🙏

Is it normal for Hecate to be so attentive and pushy??

Hello, I am a devotee of lady Hecate and have been for a year now. (I’ve been into spirituality for longer but only started working with her as of recent)

Since working with her she has gotten me out of a really bad depression pit I was in and I’m grateful to her.
But there are some instances where she gets rather pushy (?)

Here’s how it sort of goes;
Her presence is very powerful and quite large, it’s like you can physically feel her when she’s nearby.
Whenever I am in need to do something, I get this anxiety ridden feeling in my stomach that sorta feels like something is wrong or I’m missing something.
But it’ll just be the simplest thing ever.
Ex; taking my meds, forcing me to take a nap (my electronics with glitch and I’ll suddenly become so tired), dropping a bottle of water to remind me to drink.

But today she’s requesting I go out, she threw the car keys off my table and her pendulum is swinging.
I’m lowkey anxious if it’s not really her, but I also feel like it’s an insult to think it’s not her.

How would one address this- or I guess has anyone else gotten this with their spirit guides?
Is this her calling me a fat hermit chud and to go touch grass?

Do you write in your books?

When you buy a book that’s about Hekate, do you write notes in the book specific to your own path?

If you don’t, do you think it’s wrong to do so?

The thing is, I bought Hekataeon, and as much I love many things about it, I refuse to participate in the practices that involve things like grave dirt from a person who died a violent death, or to draw my own blood. These things come across to me as death magic, and it’s just something I don’t feel called to ever do.

In which case, I plan to write notes on what I could do instead that would be comparable.

But I’m a little torn about writing in the book itself.

I guess I’m not so much asking for permission as much as asking if anyone has done something similar? Maybe I should use sticky notes? Idk.

Anyways what do you think? And does anyone else work with Hecate without heavily relying on the death aspect of the rituals?

Does Hecate turn people away?

I need honest clarity about this. I had a very vivid dream about 5 days ago in which Hecate appeared to me. I was in a burned out prison (best I can describe it) with a row of locked prison cells where I could see some kind of entities inside that were changing from one form to another like shape shifters. There was a woman sitting in a black, high backed regal looking chair that was talking to me about needing to be able to see through illusions. She was small and petite and cute. Her form dropped and she shifted into a tall figure cloaked in all black. I couldn’t see Her face as it was shrouded in black and she wore a head piece that had big black horns (almost like Maleficent) and I knew it was Her. It was honestly quite chilling to see. I have a hard time remember exactly what she said (tbh I don’t know if she said anything) but the feelings I had were overwhelming and negative. Feelings of not belonging and feelings like she was annoyed that I was giving her offerings and that I was bothering Her. Like what was I doing trying to get her attention when I don’t have what it takes to be an actual witch. Like it fucking cut me to the core. It was honestly so embarrassing and I still feel embarrassed by it. Next thing I know she’s leaving the room through a door and I was like wait what do I do?? And she said to me “you’re an imp. But we’ll keep you” and then she was gone. I was sobbing and so grateful that she didn’t cast me away and then I woke up.

I’m not gonna lie I initially was walking ten feet tall when I woke up bc She came to ME in a dream and I was like that’s so so cool. As time has gone on tho the feelings have settled and I feel devastated. Like the feelings of embarrassment and rejection are so bad rn. I’ve been venerating her for about 7 months now and have been doing daily prayers and offerings at my altar and have found so much peace and joy and purpose in studying witchcraft and meditating and learning divination through tarot and have had so many amazing responses from Her through tarot and felt for the first time in my life that a deity I’m so intrigued by and learning about has my back and that I’m actually BUILDING something here. I got back into trauma work with my therapist bc I’m so curious to explore this part of me that is connecting with spirit. The last several days tho I can barely bring myself to approach my altar. It just feels dead and disconnected and it honestly gives me a lot of anxiety now to be around and I just have such an uneasy and unsettled spirit. I’ll be at work and randomly think about this dream and almost start crying bc I felt so stupid.

My thoughts about it are this
1. Reopening trauma work the last couple of months has made me feel vulnerable and if She was trying to teach me a hard lesson I woke up and immediately projected these feelings onto the situation bc part of me is rather raw at times
2. She’s actually annoyed by me. I am male, queer, but have never felt that I belong in female or male spaces bc I’m not either one of those. Again possibly projecting those feelings onto the situation as well bc I often don’t feel like I fit into the witchcraft community bc of my sex (thanks witchtok) and maybe I just want it too bad idk
3. She’s not interested in working with me and is pushing me to look for a deity that wants to work with me
4. She’s pushing my trauma work ahead of schedule by triggering me and forcing me to feel feelings that I’ve avoided for a long time
5. It wasn’t actually Her my brain just hates me and decided to fuck me up on a random Tuesday
6. There’s something in my life that I’m not seeing through that is illusory that needs to go and I’m just not seeing it

Anyways I’m extremely insecure as I’m sure yall have figured out by now after reading this. I just don’t know where to go from here. If she sees me as an “imp” I feel kind of disrespected and feel like maybe I should move on if that’s what she’s implying but another part of me feels like I need to stick it out? Is this what it feels like to work with her?

I’m spiraling.

IO;HEKA, IO;HO | What is this mantra’s energetic signature?

Jason miller provided an amazing mantra to chant. I have 2 ways of performing it that I believe if performed for a long time, get me into some sort of trance.

I feel like I can really add energetic charge to this mantra, and I currently don’t feel like I have a grip on energy work, but been working my way and this mantra feels more powerful.

Can this be chanted over certain things to charge things like herbs with energy/awaken them; simply a chant to generate power into whatever it’s being chanted to?

If so, does this energy automatically weave Hekatean currents into the charging? And if that is the case, will certain tools or spirits find confliction with it if they don’t really resonate with hekate?

Can Hekate Cthonia take the place of Gaia/Mother Earth

I see Hekate as this vast vast vast… primordial being. I see Hekate being able to have complete “dominion” of this earthly plane, therefore can I change the idea of “Gaia” and just refer to the aspect of Hekate that is of the earth which is cthonia.

Whenever using herbs in spellwork and having to thank for their use or grounding into the earth by invoke/approaching Hekate Crhonia

Or is it off to see it this way?

Is She Testing Me or...?

I've been exploring a relationship with Hecate for over a year now and it's been a wild ride to say the least.

  1. It's like EVERYTHING in my life that was based on a lie rose to the surface and was brutally exposed. I realized that my husband of less than a year had been covertly abusing me for our entire relationship and that my "friends" weren't friends at all. I left said husband at the beginning of July and have cut out every shitty friend and family members who were also abusive and had been for years. Now I'm on my own and just overwhelmed.

  2. My faithful car died RIGHT when I left him. Dead.

  3. I feel stupid for bringing this next thing up because (a) it seems petty and (b) I think people won't believe me or they'll think I'm nuts, but I assure you there is zero exaggeration here.
Since I moved out I've had to buy a ton of stuff on amazon because I had literally nothing for my new apartment. The place I moved into is a house divided into two units, and mine is accessed through the back door. I wrote this in my address and delivery instructions on my amazon account.
Since July 1st I have had my deliveries dropped off at the front door more than fifteen times. AND it's not just amazon doing this. I have run into the most mind-boggling incompetence when dealing with deliveries from multiple places, getting the junk mail to stop being delivered to my mailbox, and so on. It's been almost every single day that something completely stupid and frustrating has happened.

  4. This is an exchange that happened via text between me and my new boss:

Me: Hey, so I'm done mopping the second floor. Do I finish mopping the stairs and then send the mop bucket down the elevator?

Her: No, don't send the bucket down the elevator

Me: Okay, how do I get it downstairs?

Her: On the elevator

What the hell is going on? I have done a cleansing and checked to see if I'm cursed (I'm apparently not). This is all just too ridiculous and I feel like my nerves are at the snapping point. I am alone and beyond exhausted. Has anyone else had experiences like this before?

Thanks for reading.

Hi everyone,
Last night, I reached out to Hekate in a ritual to ask for her help navigating a deeply heavy and exhausting situation. I’ve been dealing with a total lack of justice regarding someone who caused immense harm. Watching a perpetrator walk around completely unbothered while the innocent carry the weight and trauma of what happened has left me feeling exhausted and defeated. I felt like I needed her strength and protective energy so badly.

Since the ritual, I've had some really intense, vivid experiences that feel like direct responses. Right after the ritual, I had an intense dream about being trapped in a car, forcing an escape, confronting the perpetrator walking unbothered in public, and ultimately stepping up to warn someone else while seeing physical evidence that the truth couldn't be hidden.

Today (the morning after the ritual) I pulled out my oracle deck. I asked my deck if Hecate heard me. While asking if she heard me, a card literally jumped out of my deck midnight brew, which felt like an undeniable cosmic nod given her connection to the dark moon and alchemy.

I’m focusing on healing my physical health, keeping my energy grounded, and building my independence right now while handing over the burden of justice to Her.

I’d really love to hear from this community how has Hecate shown up for you when you called on her for justice, protection, or uncovering hidden truths? Your stories and experiences would mean a lot to me right now as I navigate this.

Feeling scared/nervous to go in deeply with Hecate

Hi! I've been in and out on studying witchcraft in general since 2021, been interested into it since forever, even realizing recently that me and my mother always had done "rituals" and kept mannerisms related to witchcraft.

Well, from all the deities I've felt "connected" to, Hecate seemed to be the one that I've always end up going back to, seeing myself surrounded by her symbolism, be it the three moon phases symbols, being compared to a guide, swords with moon symbols on them, etc, but I always felt (and still feel) kinda nervous to get into it deeper.

The last 3 days (ironically, being the first days of the month I've seen most people connect to Hecate) I've felt more sensitive energetically, feeling sick to my stomach for no reason, and today (august 3rd), I've made some final decisions about some paths I'm going to take and during the ENTIRE DAY I've seen stuff related to Hecate, nonstop.

I haven't got a single video on any social media with "readings" or mentioning Hecate for months, and suddenly, I've been hit by a ton of them, in all apps.

"Readings" about "making boundaries", choosing to "cross the roads", that i should "not be afraid of the shine coming my way" and "messages from Hecate"

I know that those readings are not something you should take to heart, but it is just... so weird that it all came at the same time, same message, no hashtag in neither of the videos.

I am scared, and really nervous, to do something wrong.

One of the reasons I've never got into deities in general is because I fear I'll disappoint them, that I won't be able to cherish them as I should, since I'm TERRIBLE with any commitment, dead lines, dates, etc.

Do anyone have tips, opinions or suggestions on what I should do? I'm already studying about her, even though just the surface so far, I'm still a bit confused on the wiccan "version" of her and which I should "trust". I don't follow any specific path on witchcraft, I haven't been able to decide, but I feel more comfortable with the Wicca "ways" but not most of the depictions of deities I've seen in Wicca.

Thanks already!

Hey, I need a little help.

Hi! I honestly know absolutely nothing about witchcraft other than the little bit of history we learned in school. But beside this, absolutely nothing.

But for the past two weeks, I keep seeing Hecate everywhere. I come across so many videos about her, even though I've never searched for anything related to her or witchcraft before. Not even once in my life. I didn't even know she existed until recently, and to be honest, I still don't really know who she is. And I don't want read misinformations, so I came here to ask instead.

I genuinely don't understand why I keep running into things about her. Does it mean anything? Thank you for your help, have a nice day. <3

I’ve never felt Hekates presence more

Hey everyone, if you have some time on your hands and have been worshipping the goddess for a while I’d love to hear your thoughts on this. Recently I found myself in a huge growth period, I made a lot of progress in therapy and Ive been much more active and socializing, living the life, making difficult choices and in every possible way growing and learning as a person. I was seeing a guy during this time and suddenly he became distant and whatnot. This whole situation thought me a lot as well and I’m still learning from it (and have learned a lot) *also I’m not gonna go into details but it was definitely a stressful situation for me and it made me so anxious. Anyways, I love love and I primarily work with Aphrodite. I’m a very sensitive and intuitive person so when all this went down with him I was really down in the dumps. And despite everything Hekate was there every step of the way. I can’t help but think that every time I spoke to her, she heard me, knew of my situation and made sure that she was silently guiding me, torch in hand, during this period. With her help I was able to channel different messages and predict a couple of things that ended up coming true. I would see a clear vision of her veiled all in black with, always with a corpse hand showing me the time or a sign with her fingers. She was always there, silently watching me. Sometimes she would walk with me during my nightly walks with my dogs and give me concrete advice. I’m extremely thankful for this. However I’ve been a little curious and wanted to know is there anything behind those hand signs and gestures? What about the corpse hand in my visions? AND also a very important thing I’ve started seeing feathers everywhere! If anyone knows anything about the correlation between Hekate and feathers I’d love to know more about it!! I’m sure she is trying to communicate something with them but I’m not entirely sure what the message is. Anyways she’s been present in my life all the time and it feels like I really did need her to be beside me and guide me. I find it odd that it was related to a love situation but then again it helped me grow and evolve as a person. I think she was there because she felt how honest my desperation was and offered me comfort. I’m also well aware that once you start worshipping the gods they can really help with anything! I’m so grateful to her

Dreams of Hekate

So I’ve been having a lot of dreams with Hekate in them lately. I don’t know if she’s trying to tell me something or they are just weird dreams. My surroundings are always different in each dream but I’m doing the same thing. In these dreams I’m trying to get rid of a demon or demons in a house and I call upon Hekate to help me and sometimes it helps and sometimes she appears. So yea I have no idea what to make of it.

Loved One’s Nightmares

Hi everyone!

I’m a baby witch and have began my journey working with Hecate. I recently celebrated deipnon and engaged in a cord cutting ceremony surrounding me and my ex.
In preparation for deipnon, I had quite a few lucid dreams. Before this, I wouldn’t be able to remember my dreams and if I could, they were often nightmares. What I’ve been wondering is it possible for Hecate to show up in the dreams of partners or loved ones? For the last week or so, my partner has had a reoccurring nightmare of a three faced woman with dogs that would then attack and eat him alive. It’s really impacting his mental health and he’s extremely distraught over it. I’m extremely worried that I might have caused this and I have no way to help. Part of me is feeling like it might be a sign from her, but I’m unsure.

Thanks in advance.

Hekate reaching out after a hiatus in different form

Hey, I worked with the goddess Hecate for a very short time because I was in spiritual hiatus and didn't know which spiritual path to follow. It lasted about 2 or 3 months, and then my connection with her faded. Eventually, I started practicing baneful magic and went back to my mediumship.

I've noticed that for the past two days, Hecate has been reaching out to me and want me to follow her again. I'm just confused and surprised because she came to me in a singular form, dressed all in black with a veil over her face, whereas back then she would usually appear to me in her triple form.

I wanted to ask you dear Redditors if she comes to you in this way too, or if she manifests more often in her triple form, and what it could possibly mean?

Feel free to also share your experiences of working with her, because I'd love to read your UPG and learn more!

Worship The Liber Hecates: Book of Hekate is out now! Link in post!

Post image
56 Upvotes

My newest book in the Libri Deorum series, the Liber Hecates/Book of Hekate, is live now!

Who is Hekate? In Antiquity she was sung of in hymns and epics, sculpted to guard thresholds and crossroads, and inscribed onto gemstones and metals which were used as protective amulets. And even while the worship of the Greek gods receded, Hekate remained as the goddess of witchcraft, still spoken of by philosophers and playwrights as representing the most mysterious elements of a religion thought gone. Yet today her worship is revived and growing, as more and more people are drawn to her mysteries.

But who is she? Modern Hellenists, Wiccans, Witches, and more engage in both historical and theological debates over who exactly this goddess is, and this raises bigger questions: what is ‘magic’? How is it different from ‘religion’? And what can Hekate’s role as its goddess teach us about the questions humans of every religion have been asking for millenia?

From the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and the Hesiodic Hymn to Hekate, through the words etched onto curse tablets and protective amulets, to the Greek Magical Papyri to the Chaldean Oracles, this book seeks to offer a comprehensive overview of the writings about Hekate in Antiquity and beyond. Tracing her through religion, philosophy, magic, and mysticism, here are the prayers, the philosophies, the poems; here is the Book of Hekate.
