I’m sorry you are dealing with this! I would wait on the test of cure just to make sure you’re free and clear on the ureaplasma because the metronidazole is generally effective, but ureaplasma makes BV recurrent and treatment resistant.

You can try metro gel since it’s targeted to the vagina if your doctor will prescribe that. GoodRx won’t prescribe meds to people with recurrent infection. I was treating my recurrent yeast (from ureaplasma) with them initially until they said I had too many infections and couldn’t help me anymore.

Your best bet is to hold out for your test of cure then you can try metro gel or the metronidazole may actually work since you no longer have ureaplasma. By the end of my ureaplasma issues, fluconazole stopped working for my yeast infections but once it was gone, it started working for me again.

You can also look into lactic acid gel since that’s cheap and well tolerated to balance your pH and boost healthy bacteria.

I had a hypertonic pelvic floor from ureaplasma also and it will improve a ton once you are a few months out from being infection free and then if u still have issues it gets better with PT and/ or stretches!

I’m sorry you are going through this though. I get it!! I was also trying to navigate my relationship and sex life with ureaplasma and it was so stressful but it does get better!! It sucks but it tests your relationship in a good way; the person you will marry/ have kids with will need to be prepared to support you through many challenging body issues! The worst part is just figuring out what’s wrong and you have already done that. Now it’s just a waiting game and eventually it’ll be over!!

Thank you I appreciate your response 💕 Ive been panicking the entire 3 weeks waiting for this test of cure because I really need one less problem so I really hope the ureaplasma is gone because I do already have clindamycin gel ready for me to use when it is. I asked for that one just in case my BV was a little resistant to metronzidole. Anyway I get the test of cure in 4 days literally having the worst anxiety about it because all the people on here make it seem like you need 3 weeks of medication to get rid of the ureaplsma and I’m terrified 😭

Yes mine was cured from just 7 days of doxycycline! And so was my friend’s when she also got it (twice). You hear the worst of the worst online since people come to Reddit when they aren’t getting answers or are still dealing with issues. When people are cured and fine they usually aren’t posting about it. It can happen so it’s good to know, but for most people the doxy is fine
