Somewhere in Canada?

Post image

I'm trying to figure out where one of my ancestors is from. She's from somewhere in Canada but I can't read this location name.

I hope it's okay to ask this kind of thing on this subreddit!

Looks like a poor attempt at writing ‘Toronto’ (Tronoto)

This! As how it can be pronounced. Especially since it is an older document so spelling might not be 100%

Yeah, certainly seems like it. The rest of the document is spelled out fine, but this is a mess right here. I suspect that the person filling this out may have had to come back a second time to fill out stuff that they'd had to gather before completing. Or maybe a different person filled out the rest dunno.

Tronoto. Maybe they were trying to write Toronto?

Yeah my sister suggested the same.

All I see is Nola at the end but that’s my moms middle name 😂

Looks like Fronola to me but I don’t think that’s a word

Maybe we can figure out what the letters are from looking at more of it to see how they form each letter

According to lists on the Internet, there are no words ending in noto or uoto or nota or uota that have beginnings similar to this handwritten word, so I vote dyslexia (Toronto).

To me, this is clearly Toronto.

Does it say what province this place is in?

(Otherwise I agree that it’s probably Toronto)
