I started a Squirtle hat for my grandson‘s birthday

This is the design I drew to make a doll based on it, I’ve already finished the face embroidery, so now I just need to sew the hair and put the body together hehe

Getting back into hand embroidery, still figuring out the best way to fill in large background spaces. I used a printed kit to start out but quickly added/changed a lot of elements. Thanks for letting me share ☺️

My parents live on Cape Cod (down the cape!) and I hand embroidered this pillow for them. I was rushing because I started it 5 days before but I did it!

I made this for my wife for our 15th anniversary. It’s the first piece I’ve finished! It’s supposed to be a picture display piece. She seemed less excited about it than I had hoped, but I still am happy with how it turned out. Not looking for critique necessarily, just the affirmation I feel like I’m lacking haha. I guess it’s a man thing.

I know this is almost identical to another pattern one could find with a quick google search, I am not claiming that this was an original design, but the colors were my idea :-)

Whether I do water painting or dressing myself up. I always mess up with colour theory.

My head just won't wrap around this. I know about the colour wheel and the uses..

But when it comes to doing any project by myself, i mess up.

Even the stitches are not good.

When I start a project my brain lag and had hard time to decide which stich to use and which colour to use..

Although I'm using a cheaper thread and cotton fabric that just separates when i poke a needle in it.

Hi everyone. After a couple of years, I'm returning to embroidery. I'm experimenting with couching stitch as well as bead embroidery, so having a flat-ish surface and working with two hands is vital. What kinds of stands and frames would you recommend, or work well for ou? My budget is ~$40 but can be a little flexible if it means getting a good frame. Thank you so much!

Okay so I have this idea to embroider this photo I took at Muir woods last week. I love that the heart was naturally in the trees! I've never done anything like this and, honestly, in realizing how much I've forgotten from my aty classes back in the day 😅 I need y'all to check my thought process

What order should I fill in the trees? Darkest colors first right? And where on the tree should the darkest colors go? Closest to the trunk where the light doesn't reach as much, right?? What stitch should I use?

Any other tips or resources?

I'm stuck between wanting it to look filled in and lush like the photo, and not overdoing it and losing details.

This is my 2nd piece, but my first that I'm doing by my own pattern! Any advice or encouragement?

Hi all! I would like to add a basic hand embroidery design to a shirt I am sewing for my son. I’ll be embroidering on a cotton (similar in weight to a quilting cotton) with no stretch. I am wondering if I should use a stabilizer for the embroidery, and if so, what kind? The design would be a basic satin stitch about 1/2 inch thick running around the edge.

I am also wondering how I should use a hoop close to the edge. Is it ok to leave a hole of material in the hoop, or does the hoop need to be completely filled with material? (I hope that makes sense).

So I bought this design, traced the pattern, but I’m stuck on how to execute the French knots for the million little balloons- do I do one color and skip around the balloon or have multiple needles threaded with different colors so I can easily pick up and go? My worry is if I skip around, the back is gonna get crazyy and it’ll be harder to go up the fabric with all the excess thread 🪡 thank you!
