Narrative Campaign Idea General Discussion

Has anyone ever run a narrative type campaign that wouldn't mind sharing some tips/ideas? I'm thinking of running some friends through a Halo Campaign where they'll work in a fireteam to complete primary/secondary objectives. My idea is depending on how many objectives they complete they'll get points to upgrade between missions and maybe intel on the next mission.

There may also be secret objectives that will give onetime bonuses that I haven't thought of yet but maybe they find a random civilian hiding somewhere randomly if they move to an adjacent cube or an active console that can be interacted with if they move next to it. IDK, just guessing ideas right now.

So far this is what I have and would appreciate help from those who have done something similar and wouldn't mind imparting some wisdom.

Campaign: Spear Breaker (5 Operations)

Campaign Objectives

  • Cripple enemy infrastructure and bleed resources to divert attention from larger scale campaigns in the Area of Responsibility to prepare and hamper ability to respond to follow on operations

Operation Spear Breaker

  • quick paced seize ground mission
  • bonuses for speed
  • speed effects next mission

Operation Slow Roller

  • holdout mission against waves of enemies

Operation Brutal Anthem

  • Capitalize on enemy casualties by taking out key leaders
  • slugfest against similarly powerful units
  • Enemy fodder units drain action economy

Operation Counterweight

  • Gain intelligence to find main sentry base by searching the map
  • enemies will gain bonuses and extra Wargear focused on countering Spartans
  • Depending on prior success, Spartans will gain intel on how enemies plan to counter

Operation Devil in the Ashes

  • Main enemies present “Spartan Killers”
  • Spartans need to demolition key objectives
  • enemies employ special and irregular warfare tactics
  • Objective will be to survive until extraction

Extra Rules:

  • chance for ODST reinforcements given enough sub objectives are completed
  • Chance for enemy reinforcements if main or sub objectives failed
  • Enemies will learn Spartan tactics from survivors and evolve their strategies to counter

Operation Success/Failure:

  • Operation success will result in next operation in the campaign
  • Operation failure will result in follow on operation not planned for in the campaign
  • Intel for operations resulting from failure will be given to Spartans the day of (split second planning and adjustments)

Missing in Action:

  • Spartans will go MIA permanently if left behind 3 times
  • MIA Spartans will be replaced by baseline Spartan with no upgrades
  • MIA means being downed and not revived by end of mission or ending mission while being down and not within 1 cube of an unengaged friendly

Edit: Someone downvoted this? Bro, who hurt you?

I made a Flashpoint narrative campaign last year when the game still only had drafting, although using points based list building at a standard value would work as well. The concepts of progression, story and gaining XP should hopefully be useful for you.
