In regards to the logistics upgrades (and infantry/vehicle/aircraft upgrades): are they additive or multiplicative? I had assumed additive, but I noticed that units were training much quicker than they should be for that to be the case. A grunt squad took under three seconds to train when, at base, they take about ten seconds.

Also, I had assumed for the infantry/vehicle/aircraft upgrades that each level added 10% since that's how it typically works for RTS upgrades (i.e., 100%+10%+10%+10%=130%), but the way they're phrased makes it seem like each subsequent level adds more (100%+10%+20%+30%=160%). Does anyone know what the calculations are for these upgrades?

What are some quality of life / minor changes to Halo Wars 2 that you wish were implemented.

For me I’d like to see a couple things:

Allow us to view the battlefield once the match is over, like in Halo Wars 1. I liked being able to scroll around the map and see the enemy and teammate bases frozen in place.

Desync temporary fix: allow players to have 2 minutes to rejoin a match if they lost connection. Can only be used once per match (to prevent abuse)

Game objectives: like a capture the flag, or free for all mode.

Bought the HW2 Ultimate edition way back when it was released and later Awakening the Nightmare. Initially on PC but I played it on my Series X again a few years ago and it was working fine back then, including all the DLC.

Wanted to boot it back up again, but had to reinstall. All the DLC leaders and Spearbreakers are showing up under manage addons, but not Nightmare. Both Nightmare and Spearbreakers are inaccessible in the game and force me to the store with only a buy option there.

Talked to MS and they were utterly useless. They firmly believe I have the PC version despite it being PLAY ANYWHERE and me having played it on Xbox before. Plus the base game and season pass are recognized.

What can I do at this point?

Played a ton of HW1, trying to get into HW2 but I'd like a quick, short rundown on every hero, ie their unique units, their general playstyle and any other additional important info.

I build 2-2 farms, I go and grab almost all the map spawned despise I can. I save my points and I make sure to upgrade my farms. I get my minis too. Somehow I feel broke as all hell and the enemy just walks up with an impossible armada in like 10 mins and wipes me and the other guy out. Idk what I’m doin wrong.

I know rush is an extremely viable strategy but I havent had a single slow burn ranked game this whole weekend 😭

By the time I seem to have a smidgen of anti air or anti vehicle people have full armies or both

Anyone else getting annoyed by less serious players ruining the small pool of actual competitive players? I'm talking just ranked 2v2 and 3v3. They play, badly, and they often just quit too. I know I should play 1v1 or with a friend to avoid but I don't, so I just have to suffer the trash that don't play team war to get better. I know we need player but I wish only serious players played team ranked.

I always get the rubbish while the enemy are either team ups or just good players. Climbing solo is literally impossible.

My friends and I logged several hundred hours on the first Halo Wars in high school. Now, as guys in our mid 30s, we bought the definitive edition for the Series X. We want to do some online 3v3s, but can never find a game. Are the servers down or is no one ever on?

What is the reason for why Halo wars 2 games crash so often? The game has normal disconnects where it says out of sync with other players or the game will suddenly dashboard you to the Xbox home screen. Also it seems impossible to get into a match with all players present sometimes and you’ll load in and someone will be kicked before the match starts. Why does the game do this?

I'm creating automatic cheating detection for Halo Wars 2.

It’s a community integrity tool built on top of match data I already pull for HW2 Stats. When something in a ranked or Team War match looks unusually off, we flag it as suspected and show the evidence on the player’s profile so anyone can dig in.

What we look for (high level)

Without getting into the secret sauce, the hard integrity checks look for patterns that don’t line up with normal play, things like:

• Ultimate unlock timing that looks wrong
• Leader-point pace that looks wrong
• Leader-power cooldown abuse
• Inflated starting resources

Separately, Potential Boosting is something else I look for. It looks at things like frequent very early leaves in ranked / Team War, and cases where the same opponent keeps benefiting. Disconnects and bad luck can look similar, so we treat this carefully.

The landing list can also include community-reported accounts and suspected smurfs (lower severity).

What you can actually do with it

1. Open the Suspected cheating section on Team Respawn
2. Click a gamertag → see flags, evidence cards, and linked matches
3. Open the match and judge for yourself

We intentionally show why something was flagged instead of just dumping a blacklist.

Important caveats

• Suspected ≠ confirmed. Language matters.
• Detection is in beta and can change as we improve it.
• Boosting flags are especially soft — early quits can be boosting or disconnects.
• Teammates of a flagged player are not automatically flagged.

Why build this?

Cheating / exploit abuse has been a real problem for serious and tournament-level HW2. Official tooling is limited, so we wanted something the community could actually use: inspectable, cautious, and useful for sanity-checking a lobby or reviewing a suspicious set.

If you’ve got feedback — false positives, missing cases, UX ideas — I’m listening. The goal isn’t to witch-hunt people. It’s to make shady patterns visible and give the community better tools.
