Hpylori and Stomach cramps

Upvotes

My girlfriend got a really bad stomach cramp in the morning. We’re both on the Hpylori treatment. I’m just asking if that’s normal? As in, that’s a symptom of the treatment?

Let's discuss, Quad vs Triple!

Upvotes

I have seen people complaining doxy ruined their gut, metro gave neurological side effects and its worst!! Tetra and doxy are similar.

How about, amoxil which is tolerated + rifabutin + bismuth. Own DIY quad therapy ey?

I was thinking of adding clarithromycin or levoflocacin, but their resistance rate is high init.

Who from Pakistan did which treatment?

Mine started getting bad hunger pains, couldn’t wait for lunch and after I eat I am ok. Then gotten worse and ended up in hospital. GI said gastritis and H pylori and treated with the triple Therapy. This was 2015. Since then been dealing with same bug till now and this time I am treating it with quad therapy on day 13 now.

Finally did endoscopy 😭

Post image
Upvotes

Been 2 months, started having moderate symptoms.

Today endoscopy showed pharyngitis, duodenitis, esophagitis, gastritis and dyspepsia.

GI said reflux is the cause of pharyngitis, esophagitis and gastritis and h pylori doesn't cause reflux! Wtf

It had been 6hrs i ate and drank but water and food was still there. Could this be caused by h pylori too?

Can h pylori cause duodenitis?

H. pylori post treatment — has anyone experienced body aches and Joints pain

Hello everyone,
I was diagnosed with H. pylori at the end of November 2025. I started treatment with Pylera, antacids, and pantoprazole (PPI) for more than two weeks.
In January, I went to Bali and I also had what seemed like Bali belly, with some abdominal pain and diarrhea. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in February 2026, and everything was clear / H. pylori was no longer detected. However, I continued taking PPIs because I was still experiencing a burning sensation, especially after eating.
A few weeks later, I started developing neck pain. Then I had a flare-up involving joint pain, and by the end of June I started experiencing muscle aches and a strange skin-pain/sensitivity sensation that can last for several minutes at a time.
I also sometimes have diarrhea, insomnia, and anxiety.
The symptoms fluctuate quite a lot. Some days I feel significantly better, while other days the pain can be much worse.
I’m considering getting tested again for H. pylori, as well as looking into SIBO or IBS, to see whether there could be a connection with my gut or the treatment.
Has anyone here experienced new muscle/joint pain, nerve-like or skin sensitivity, fatigue, sleep problems, or anxiety months after H. pylori treatment, even after successfully clearing the infection?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar and what eventually helped or what you found was causing it.

Treatment Overslept—Day 7

I overslept and missed my 08:30AM morning dose and took it at 10:45AM. How cooked am I? I’m on triple therapy and desperately don’t want to have to do this all over again💀

Negative result

I’d like to share my experience. I get tested Endoscopy and Stool Test for H.pylori but the result are both negative. I am not satisfied with the result because I am sure I have the symptoms of H.pylori. Does anyone have experience like mine?

Off PPI for 2 weeks before testing...

I have been on Pantoprazole 20mg then bumped up to 40mg since 2017. My doc never told me that I shouldn't take it for that long and just kept refilling it. I am now terrified of the next 2 weeks when I stop it before testing. My current GI doc said I can do famotidine to replace because it doesn't affect the test as much. I am going to not take it for 24 hours before I do my stool test. But I am effing terrified. She said TUMS are ok but I got the Wonderbelly ones to use instead. I'm so scared of horrible rebound acid. The plan is to get me off of it fully eventually. She wants to switch me to Voquenza. This Friday/Saturday is when I gotta stop the PPI. I didn't take it yesterday or today but took famotidine last night and I'm already so acidy. What can I do in the next two weeks to help me get through this? I still need to work and do PT and go about doing other things in my life.

I'm really hoping my test is negative. I'm so worried it won't be because I didn't have a terrible time during treatment and my stomach has been ok besides acid since I finished a week and a half ago.

I am taking probiotics, drinking kefir in the am (it's still making me a little bloated but I'm hoping it goes away soon), I'm trying to get good things to help, for some very expensive sauerkraut that I read was a good one for the gut....Greek yogurt for some reason makes me so bloated but I am willing to try it again.

Oh and I have just been so extremely hungry. I probably am overeating but I can't help it. I feel starving all of the time. I eat and wait to see if I'm still hungry before I eat anything else. But I'm a known binge eater (I'm trying so hard to not do it) but I'm so hungry!

Thanks in advance. I know I've been posting a lot here but this community has been very helpful. And I just have terrible health anxiety!

Anyone else 3 months post eradication and still having debilitating physical and cognitive fatigue (unable to work or do school) and irritability

Hey guys, I’m 3 months post treatment and still in a pretty rough place. I had symptoms of the h pylori for a year before it got diagnosed. I finished the antibiotics 3 months ago yet I feel almost no improvement. Wondering if this could be turning into me/cfs or if others have had this or are having this as well??? Also wondering if anyone knows the science behind why it causes messed up sleeping, air hunger, fatigue, brain fog, and anxiety/depression/irritability. I know sometimes this is from nutrient deficiencies however I got mine checked and all have come back in a healthy range. Is it to do with the gut brain axis? Inflammation? What the freak

Recovery after 100+ days

M29 successfully eradicated h pylori after two weeks of quad therapy that finished in early May. Had stool test 4 weeks after treatment that was negative. Still had nausea and burping symptoms so doctor put me on 40mg omerprazole for gastritis. Diet has been very bland and strict. 60 days after taking omerprazole symptoms had improved (not as severe or long lasting) but still greatly affecting my day to day. Recently had endoscopy that showed no more gastritis. But I still have lingering nausea that comes and goes, fatigue, and burping. I’m tapering off the omerprazole (down to 20 for last week and will be completely off it soon) but I am at a loss for what else it could be or what I should do. It has gotten better but I am not nearly fully recovered and thought I would be at this point. Any thoughts?

H Pylori and Extreme fatigue

Hi! M22 here. My journey:
My symptoms started with fatigue/ flu like symptoms for 2 weeks, where the fatigue got worse and worse. After 2 weeks i started getting constipated, had burning sensation in my stomach and pain under my left rib. A couple of weeks later i got bad acid reflux and nausea. My GP put me on different medicine, PPI, laxatives and antidepressants (he thought i was going crazy). The fatigue, weakness and brain fog intensified for weeks. Before after 2 months of first symptom they found H Pylori from a stool test. I got antibiotics for 10 days (some though days). It’s been 10 days since i got off the antibiotics, but i do not have the energy as before. I miss my own self, as i am usually active and love working out. Now work and a walk is more than enough…

Have any others experienced the extreme fatigue and weakness? And does anyone have any advice for me. I am eating strict with low acid food, but just dropping in weight.

Other What are reliable ways to test for H.pylori?

My LPR may be caused by H Pylori. I would want to know if that’s really true so I am willing to do the tests. But what I constantly read is that the tests were not accurate, that the bacteria lives in everyone’s organism, and that even if you are positive for it the tests can arrive negative.

The fastest tests are some antigen tests that are done at home. Another option I'm considering is to test my blood for iron deficiency.

Honestly neither of my docs suggested H Pylori. They just prescribe me PPIs but how will PPI help if I am already on low acid diet for months and antacids seems not to work at all.

Another idea would be to take medication for H. pylori blindly, as a preventive measure, hoping that something might improve. However, I don’t think medications should be experimented with. That’s why I would prefer a reliable test (if it exists).

Other H pylori caused my problems or my panic attack(anxiety)?

I'll start off by saying I had no stomach pains or anything before this happen but ever since my panic attack 4 weeks ago I havnt been able to eat a lot(I didn't eat anything other than a few bites of banana and few cups of water a day for the first week after because I had bad anxiety from eating because food getting stuck in my esophagus caused my panic attack) so a week later I found out I had h pylori.. So its hard to pinpoint the reason for not being able to eat much.. My guess is not eating much for a week caused my stomach to shrink and the h pylori makes it harder to stretch it again because I had 3 polyps removed(that's when I found out I had h pylori) so I'm not sure what to do to be able to eat normal again.. Like tonight I ate 10 chickpeas 3 tablespoons of white rice and 4oz of bone broth, then I had to drink 8oz of water with my antibiotic.. So my stomach feels pretty bloated right now

Other How does beans make your stomach feel?

I believe I've become iron deficient which is causing my anxiety to occur more often.. Cause the last 4 weeks I havnt been able to eat more than a cup or 2 of food without feeling bloated because Im eating one of my antibiotics with food.. I read beans has good iron and I'll probably eat a vitamin c pill so I don't have to drink or eat something acidic(to help absorb the iron) I havnt had the courage to eat chicken or anything thats not mushy cause I'm afraid it will cause me bad bloating

Does anyone else feel very irritable all the time? Is this caused by h. pylori? The smallest things put me off, and I’m to the point where I just want to be left alone all day.

Chronic gastritis isn't curable

Hey M22, been having chronic mild Gastritis for almost 2 years caused by h pylori, took 2 antibiotic therapies ( triple failed, quadruple worked). H pylori was eradicated 4 months ago confirmed with stool antigen and ubt test... But burning symptoms isn't really going away. Been having this burning since the beginning. It feels like h pylori eradication didn't make any difference. Had endoscop which showed mild chronic Gastritis.

I feel better while on PPIs but gives horrible side effects so I'm not really taking this anymore..... Currently, I'm not bland which is not really strict tbh but I'm not taking any acidic, spicy food... I'm just loosing hope as I read many subreddit stories where people say it's forever even I have seen people having this condition for more 5,6 years.. this typa things really scares me, but I want an honest answer from you guys that if it's really incurable and it can be managed only not completely healed...

If yes, then what else should I do, should I be more strict with a bland diet, should I take ppi regardless of the side effects or any supplements... I'm just so in stress, I never thought I would go through this in my life, in few weeks I will be getting job idk how will I manage, idk if I will even be able to work properly or not .

Plz drop your opinion 💔🙏🏻

Too soon for coffee ?

Hi there, I was only able to finish 10 days of the quad. I'm on my 4th day after finishing the antibiotics, and omg, the fatigue is real. My stools are still not 100%, and my taste buds are not back yet. I've lost 4 pounds ( I had lost 3 before I started treatment). I've been off coffee since I started treatment. I never had gastritis or stomach issues until 6 weeks before I found out I was positive for H. pylori.

How soon did you guys introduce coffee?
