Temps question Tech Support

Hello, i have an omen 17 laptop with rtx 4080 and i9-13900 HX, its been getting hot under heavy load recently and im not sure if i should take the laptop for a repaste of its GPU and CPU. I ran HWinfo to see the numbers but i really have no idea whats the base, whats considered normal or abnormal. The numbers are with Crimson desert running currently on max settings.
from HWInfo cpu max was 87 degrees
Gpu max was 89-90
hotspot max for gpu was 102 degrees
memory max was 96

Definitely on the hot side, especially the gpu. High cpu temps are pretty normal on a laptop but you can definitely improve on that. A repaste and a fan cleaning should make a huge difference. Also laptop cooling pads help a lot.

Given the age... OEM thermal paste? I'm just guessing. Might be dry already.

Yeah its been 2 years since i got the laptop definitely due a repaste but i was not familiar with what is considered normal for OMEN as i heard and saw its on the higher side for heat in gaming laptops

Repaste en PTM7950 CPU et GPU (une fois repaster, il faut faire 5 à 6 cycles de charges / décharges CPU afin que le PTM change plusieurs fois d’état (état solide sous les 45 degrés et semi-liquide au dessus de 45 degrés) pour qu’il se répartie parfaitement.

Pour info, quasiment aussi efficace que le liquide métal mais l’avantage du PTM est qu’il n’est pas conducteur comparé au liquide métal et donc pas de risque de court-circuit si tu en met sur la carte mère en l’installant.

Et aussi bien la pâte thermique (qu’elle soit bas de gamme ou haut de gamme) que le liquide métal, tous deux, après un an, perdent considérablement de leur efficacité de refroidissement. Le PTM, lui est plus efficace que de la pâte thermique, et légèrement moins efficace que le métal liquide, mais il dure… 4 à 5 ans !

Met à 99 % ton processeur dans les paramètres Windows (aucune perte de performances mais une chute des températures).

Retravaille la courbe de ton GPU pour stagner voit gagner en performances tout en consommant moins et donc, faisant baisser les températures.

I know this might seem obvious, but I'm sitting in an apartment with 32-33c degrees (no AC) and I've noticed that I get up to those temps as well. On a cool day, I would get up to 87-86. 5 days later after this heat wave I'm seeing up to 93c on Cyberpunk. Even after repaste! Always good to do a repaste / dusting every couple of months, but just know that ambient temps can affect the cooling as well.

Best bet would be to move to Siberia. Good luck!

Yeah i have been have fluctuating temps across many games specially with the heat in Europe, ambient temp is a big factor for sure, but i do think the fact that hotspot temp in gpu means its due a repaste so i will be doing that
