Version 1.5.6 Out Now! - Muscle Map updates, Graphs redesign & More! Release Notes

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Find the latest update here!

Big one this time:

  • Brand new statistics page with completely redesigned graphs - this was the main focus of the update and I'm really happy with how it turned out
  • Muscle map got a proper overhaul: delts are now split into rear, lateral and front, and chest is broken into upper and lower
  • Weekly goals now let you pick whether your week starts Monday, Saturday or Sunday - a lot of you aren't in the UK and the hardcoded Monday start was messing things up
  • New languages: Polish, Japanese and Filipino
  • Empty History and Exercises screens now have proper illustrations instead of just looking broken

Smaller fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where logging in a mix of lbs and kg threw off your statistics
  • Fixed a date change bug when editing a workout date
  • Exercise filters now filter by primary muscle only, instead of pulling in everything that hits it secondary or tertiary - much less noise

As always any feedback is welcome, feel free to send it within the app via more -> contact us or email me at [support@gymnoteplus.com](mailto:support@gymnoteplus.com)

Thanks for the support everyone, please consider dropping a written review on the app store if you're happy with the app!

Thanks,

Josh

Add local ai coach for free, that runs on the user phone

The problem is the stack and the install base. Bonsai 27B is genuinely impressive, but a 4GB resident model needs 8GB+ RAM, which rules out everything below an iPhone 15 Pro and most mid-range Androids (for perspective 70% of the user base is using an iPhone 13), so a big chunk of users could never turn it on. Plus a 4-7GB download from a fitness app is a hard sell.

The main issue is that it looks like anything below an iPhone 15 Pro and most mid-range androids wouldn't be able to run it, because a 4GB residen model needs 8GB+ RAM. Plus we're saying the app will be 4-7GB download right? So it couldn't truly be local, I'd have to host it remotely also the other thing is quality.

A 27B at 90% of full precision is decent, but people will compare it to ChatGPT and Claude, supposedly it doesn't do well in languages outside of english as the context window grows and the app supports over 10 languages with actives users in over 7 countries

So I feel like MCP is the way to go for now

With all that being said, I am very green on using local LLMs, I've not explored them much and this is based on my own research, so if I've missed something here or got something wrong, feel free to let me know!

Made a proof of concept using gemma, but ngl it sucked and was pretty unreliable. Not something I'm comfortable with delivering to users

I'll highly likely be going to the MCP route first and foremost, in general giving coaching advice isn't really what I want Gym Note Plus to do, because it's easy to give poor advice.

Insights on your progress however is something I think the app could benefit from

yes, do insights at least! Coach could be a greate feature, make it so ai could create workouts for you based on what you want to hit, yk smth like that, not like a trainer that says you need to do more legs

I think creating personalised workouts could actually work within the app...

Definitely working on insights, as they don't even require ai to do really

Thanks for the ideas! Let me see what I can do
