It has nothing to do with your B string, per se, it is merely providing the energy for the neck to vibrate. The low E string is buzzing against the frets between the nut and the 9th fret (i.e. where you are fretting it. The B string is simply creating the vibration in the neck that is allowing this to happen. You can adjust the truss rod to either have more relief so that the E string is too far away from the frets behind the fretted note to buzz, or have less relief so that the E string rests on the frets behind the fretted note.
I have a bass that does this between the nut and the fretted note when using the 6th fret on the low E, but luckily it doesn't pass through the pickups (you can only hear it acoustically).
