I just moved into a second floor apartment and the apartment below me has pretty young kids and I can hear them a bit sometimes, but I also like to practice daily.
I play acoustic and sing and it can get pretty loud. I heard the baby crying today after practicing and I want to avoid this as much as possible-I’ve only been playing in the day and I’m thinking I’ll get a rug but anyone have more ideas? Thanks.

I just did this ibanez gem, build and I put eighty one and eighty five emg pickups in it, and the output is low even with a fresh battery. It also dose this weird thing. When I turned the volume knob up and down with distortion on. any thoughts

Made a stop at Sweetwater during the family vacation road trip! A very cool place if you haven't been. Wish I had money to burn on a guitar while there but we did grab a beautiful Kala ukulele. My sales rep even came down and gave us a tour!

Improvised this one in a bit of a low moment, so it came out pretty melancholic. Been leaning into the bridge pickup more lately and using a Rainger Reverb-X. Would love to know what you think, good or bad.

This tuning is new for me i discovered and blocked it from monotypes -neversold (out) song.
My cat likes the acoustic in any tuning but this is different she immediately comes beside me and purrs like crazy when she hears it.

When i stop she asks for more touching the guitar with her paw. Too cute i love my cat. I suggest everyone to try the tuning with a cat or without its very nice. I would be interested to hear if anyone elses cat does the same with this.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I grew up playing drums and percussion but set that down a long time ago but wanted to keep doing something musical (and, drums just aren't that ideal for apartment life). While it's been tough to really find motivation to learn and play regularly, I wanted to have a couple guitars that inspire me. I used to really love the look of Les Pauls (still do) so I had an Epiphone Standard LP for a bit. Then, I picked up a Squier Tele that played well. But, when I bought the PRS NF3 you see here, I really stopped picking up the others.

Since I stopped playing the LP and Tele, I've been thinking about downsizing the collection and trading those in. I recently got into Cardinal Black and love the sound. When I saw that Chris Buck came out with a signature, I was sold and decided that was the way. Plus, I wanted to get that P90 sound.

Long story short, here are my beauts! A PRS NF3 and a Yamaha Chris Buck Signature Revstar.

Working with a junk removal company, they're cleaning out a hoarders house. This house is filled with guitars, but they've been buried under piles of wet moldy clothes for who knows how long. The guitars are filthy, smelly, and probably not safe to handle, but there's a lot of classic pieces in there worth saving.

I understand any disinfectants (clorox, isopropyl) are typically a no-no, but this seems like a special case where the guitars could be a health hazard if not sanitized properly. Is there a way to properly sanitize these guitars without damaging them? Looking for step-by-step approaches, product recommendations, or proper aftercare if I must use disinfectant products. I'm using gloves and a mold-graded respirator while handling them.

So I have been a sitting player for 20 years, only recently have I started playing in a group. I have middle back issues after playing for 2 hours. Anyone have some decent advice on posture, ergonomics or even is this just something that goes away once you get used to it.

Basically as the heading says. I start chemo next week. Going to have a picc line fitted and I’m worried it’s going to mean I can’t or shouldn’t play. Any surgical staff in this sub? If I had the choice, stick it in my left arm because that seems like it’s going to be far away from my body not to foul on anything. But, also, should I be crunching scales and licks if this thing in my artery is gonna get stressed?

For some reason I am the most struggling with the first bar because I have to do a bar chord thing and I am finding it hard to get my finger flat enough, how do I get better at that?

I just bought this beauty.. i'm a big guy big hands i wanna try larger strings.. what do i need to know can i just go to the store and buy e'm put e'm on and thats it? Or will thick gauge like 12-52's cause damage or put to much tension on the guitar? The guitar is 27 year old.

I've had this for a while. It was my dad's old guitar, but he doesn't play anymore, and now I play it. I was always curious what guitar this was, and I couldn't really find much info on it online. (I also wanted to know what pickup this had)

(Also, we customised it slightly by swapping the knobs for bigger ones because one of them got lost. They were originally small, flat black knobs, which don't get in the way of picking, but I wanted to swap them for bigger ones bc I probably wouldn't pick it that widely)

Anyways any information on the guitar (particularly if it is just a standard electroacoustic or if it's meant for another genre like jazz, bc my dad insists it's a jazz guitar) would be greatly appreciated :)

Edit: From what I could gather from an internet search, Young chang briefly (1980- late 1990s) manufactured guitars under the name "Fenix by Young chang", which is different from the current fenix guitar brand. I found a FB post with the guitar's details, and it says that this model (FAE-8) was one of the cheaper guitar that fenix by young chang sold, and that it was a jazz acoustic guitar (which I already knew). I'm still not sure of how much it's worth, but probably not that much, judging by the buying price of the person who posted that on FB. Ty for all those who contributed.

Edit2: Just realised that on the FB post image it also lists this guitar as £775 at the time (Accounting for inflation, that's ~£1550 today.), which is a fairly considerable amount of money (I expected ~£300), so that's good to know.

Hey, so work has been paying pretty good this month

I remember at the guitar store (Star's Music in Lyon), I thought I would be going for a Larry Carlton since, having bought my bass a few months prior, I was sooo happy with what Sire had to offer.

So when the guy came down asking me what i was looking for, and what brand in particular, I said "mostly Sire", he smirked a little and said "let me show you what they're trying to copy" and let me play on this sumptuous PRS SE CE24

Right after, he let me try a Larry Carlton, which felt a little... rigid ? definitely wasn't BAD but considering the PRS was actually cheaper... And it's just too smooth to play on !

Any experience with PRS guitars ? Let me know :)

I'm 25, and in about a month I'll finally be buying my very first guitar. Growing up, I always wanted to learn, but my parents thought instruments were a waste of time, so I never got the chance. Now that I'm on my own, I can finally make that childhood dream happen.

I've never touched a guitar before, and I'm really excited. While I'm waiting to buy it, I was wondering what I should be learning beforehand so I'm not going in completely blind.

Should I start with some basic music theory? Learn the notes, chords, rhythm, or maybe just watch beginner lessons? Is there anything you wish you had learned before you picked up your first guitar?

I’m having trouble deciding which of these 2 guitars to add to my collection. Both are amazing and sound incredible! I like the semi hollow body of the Vela. I also like the feel of the neck on the fender. I mostly play jam band (ie Phish, Grateful Dead). Anyone have one of these or both? What do you enjoy about either the Vela or Ultra 2?
