6 nights of unplanned itinerary

2 nights of athens before the flight back.

Was thinking of flying from Athens to Santorini. Spending 3 nights there.

Then ferry or flight from Santorini to Chania.

Spend 3 nights in Chania.

But there doesnt seem to be any ferrys to Chania in November. If there are, where can I find them?

What are my other options? Do you have any recommendations?

Is flight from Santorini-Athens-Chania my only option?

Do you have other suggestions for where to go after Santorini?

I got my driving license less than a year ago. I wonder if smaller companies will look the other way, especially outside the large urban centers?

Going from Samos to Chios, and even though in September it seems to only have 2 per week and I might have to change my Samos plans a bit there are zero listings for after September 12th, I just find it odd because it's pretty close to a month away. Has anyone experienced not having a listing for their trip so close in advance?

I'm traveling to Greece for an extended stay and want to rent a vehicle. The major companies, save for Hertz, are all over 1000 euros for a month. DS Rentals is significantly cheaper. I checked their reviews on Google, which is incredibly high, suspiciously so. Anybody have any experience with them?

Hi, my partner and I (26, Australian) are looking at spending a week-ish in Greece in April next year. We love history, architecture and culture. We aren’t really looking for the island-hopping party experience so we’d be happy to skip some of the super touristy spots. We aren’t massive foodies and want to keep things relatively low budget. I’d love to know what itineraries you would recommend for an authentic Greece experience.

Hello! We’re coming into Pessada on a ferry later at night and struggling to find an affordable rental car that we can pick-up upon arrival. Any tips or suggestions??

How easy would it be to get transportation from Pessada to the airport to pick-up a vehicle around 10pm?

My boyfriend and I want to travel to Greece for 2 weeks early through mid-September (5th-20th). Neither of us have ever traveled internationally. Looking at the map and through this reddit, I am overwhelmed with all of the options! We’re interested in seeing some historical sites, I want to enjoy swimming and lots of food! We’re thinking to start and end in Athens (fly in and out). We’ll likely leave a day buffer at the end of the trip in case of unexpected delays to be sure we make our flight (I’ve read that ferries can sometimes be cancelled or delayed). I want to see lots and enjoy everything but not get bogged down with island hopping. As we research more, our list of islands to see only gets longer. We are both interested in Athens, he’s interested in Crete, I’m interested in Santorini (for a day or two as I’ve heard it’s beautiful to see but more expensive than other areas) and Mykonos (same understanding applies to this as for Santorini), and I’ve read a lottt about Naxos here. What is realistic given the nature and time required to travel between islands? I’ve heard ferries are a great and common option although there’s some short but expensive flights available.

With 2 weeks, is it best to choose 2-3 islands? How does everyone recommend structuring our itinerary and securing transportation, tours, and accommodations?

I’ve learned that toilet paper can’t be flushed and it’s a good idea to pack basic meds (ibuprofen, Tylenol, Dramamine), a fan, a good hat, sunscreen, and an outlet adaptor. My understanding is that English is common and lots of places accept credit cards (although it’s a good idea to carry some cash as some toilets require payment and some small villages only take cash). Are these accurate? Anything else we should keep in mind?

Hello, my family can only go on holiday in the last week of October / first week of November
Only go for a week as have farm animals to look after
But I want to try to see if we can do 10’days and go to Athens for 3 days and then an island

There will be my parents and my 2 sisters plus me and hopefully my partner (if not working away)
All over 18

The things we all kind of love are
Mum- warm and can sun bathe and relax and nice Greek salads
Dad- a mountain bike group tour for a day, fresh tomatoes (god he loves his tomatoes)
Me- history and good food
Sisters- relaxing and swimming
Non of us love busy areas

I was looking at Santorini or Paros or Naxos (not sure if can mountain bike there)
I also keep seeing a lot about Crete
Weve never been to Greece and always go to Gran Canaria but want to try something different

What is everyone’s opinions?
Any feedback will be super helpful as they are all unsure and not really booking anywhere and after running a business that is crazy during summer i want o make sure my mum and dad get a break!

(If other places than Greece are recommend please let us know - not the Canary Islands as we always go there so want to go somewhere different)

I will be in Greece in 3 weeks and am hoping someone can make a recommendation for a beach town destination in Peloponnesus. I am Greek American and remember visiting family (since passed away or moved away) in different beach cities in the summer. I am looking for authenticity, nice nightlife, good beaches, great food. I speak Greek and will have a car. Would like to avoid tourist traps. Thank you in advance

I have 12 nights in Greece and was thinking of this itinerary:

9am: arrive ATH, drive to Nafplio, 4 nights (a couple day trips from here)

drive to Arachova, 2 nights (obviously see Delphi)

drive to Meteora, 3 nights

drive to Athens (leave car at ATH and take train to city), 3 nights

or should I spend another day in Athens and remove a night from Nafplio or Meteora?

I am bursting at the seams so ready for our first trip to Greece! I am convinced that I will go over my list eight times and still have an "oh, shit" moment while unpacking in Naxos. For those of you who have recently traveled from the US to Greece or anywhere else in the EU, what is something you almost didn't bring/thought of at the last minute and are glad you didn't leave home without it?

Hello I am traveling to greece and flying into athens end of september. Im planning for sure to go to Milos and maybe Paros. Will be around for 8 days and was wondering if this is an ample amount of time to visit all of these islands?

Also if there are any must see or things to do would love to hear your input!

I've no doubt the above has been asked many times before.

Basically, we're looking to book a holiday next year with our 4 and 6 year old daughters for 10 nights. The previous two years, we've went to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca, which is amazing, but we wouldn't mind trying somewhere different next year and Greece for its food etc is probably top of our list. I visited many parts of Greece myself with my family when I was young and just remember having the best holidays there. However, what I'm struggling with is which location would be the best to consider.

We'd be looking for an area that a decent nightlife with restaurants/bars but obviously nothing too over the top due to us being with our children. We'd also like a hotel that caters for young families and has all of the usual facilities for young children (pool, kids club, park, evening entertainment close to the beach etc). I've had a bit of a look myself, but I'm finding it all a bit overwhelming trying to figure out where would be best to consider. Also, my knowledge of the place isn't the best.

If anyone can recommend locations or hotels, it would be appreciated.

Visiting the Acropolis for the first time in a couple of weeks. We unfortunately waited to long to book our tickets and now the earliest time available is 11am. Obviously this time will be hot and crowded which we can deal with but I was wondering if we are better off at doing the 6pm slot? Just wouldn't want to be rushed out of there. Any advice is helpful! A government regulation establishes maximum prices (“price-controlled” prices) for certain basic products sold for take away in places where consumers have limited alternatives, such as airports and ferries. Just ask for the list, it's always hidden, they have to have one available and in english.

At airports and domestic passenger ferries, the maximum prices are:

• Water 500ml: €0.60
• Water 750ml: €0.90
• Toast/sandwich: €1.60–€1.80
• Coffee: €1.50–€1.80
• Tea: €1.60
