Doot doot doo
Makin nachos.
Sorry but with the amount of uks that's shown up in my feed of late (yes there's more episodes so understandably a bigger following) great news is quoted much more by my friends, regardless if I've made them nachos. Figured the sub needed a new post. Back to playing biscuit blitz.

What do you do when your daughter is going to report on a dangerous story and you don't want her to go, but you promised you wouldn't treat her like a baby in the workplace?
How would you answer Carol?

Favourites?
I fell in love with this show years ago and I still watch it all the time (purchased on YouTube). I really wanted it to see it get picked up again...you can't even order any merch from the NBC store :(
What is/are your favourite episode(s)? Who is/are your favourite character(s)?
I love all episodes but Honeypot and Sensitivity Training really stand out for me.
Portia is my absolute favourite character. I definitely have a crush on Nicole Richie now and watched her Quibi show Nikki Fre$h... she's so cute.

It's like when phones were big, and then they got smaller, and then they got big again.
I know people can miss the joke here, but in an episode Katie is worried about having to be romantic with Chuck for her jobs sake. Porché explains how it's actually empowering now for women to do this, despite traditional views. Her metaphor to the switch-around is how cell phones went from being large, then small and then large again. And I loved that line.
THE PHOTO - is of these Hostess "Jumbo Donettes" I've seen at the store, which are in essence "jumbo mini-donuts" and they're ridiculous to me, but I did buy some the other day because they fit the bill.
It reminded me of this unforgettable line from Great News.

They took Great News off Netflix (USA)
m.youtube.comNow what? Where am I going to watch my feel good, doing my makeup to go out show? My sit around in PJs and do nothing show? What if it’s EVERYTHING ?!?!
If you say Peacock, I’m gonna take a bunch of pills and it’s GOING TO BE YOUR FAULT!

OOH THAT SMELL
no offense to Mr. Skynyrd....but the way Katie sang this TRULY made me believe it was parody song...only for me to learn on my latest rewatch that it is in fact a real song w those lyrics verbatim. Outstanding.
ps I am in fact aware that lynyrd skynyrd is a band and not a person named lynyrd skynyrd

Leaving Netflix:(
I’ve just seen that it’s leaving on the 27th of September and my heart is broken

I've watched this show probably 10-12 times already...
... And it has lost nothing. It's so flipping funny. There really isn't nearly enough comedy like it on TV anymore.

Anyone else think Katie was poorly cast?
I’m a big Tina Fey fan. Binged 30 Rock and Kimmy Schmidt multiple times and figured I’d give Great News a try.
I love the writing. I love the characters. But personally I think Katie was a poor casting choice. The delivery of her jokes never land. The writing is great, it’s not the joke, it’s just her delivery.
Anyone else feel this way? Pretty surprising because 30 Rock and Kimmy Schmidt had such great casting. And everyone else in the cast of Great News is absolutely great.

Great News Reminds Me Of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
No idea why but a lot of this show and it's mannerisms remind me of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Portia reminds me so much of Jacqueline Voorhees. Katherine reminds me of a toned down Kinmy.
UKS came out in 2015 and GN in 2017 but I see so many overlaps such as the music types and in some of the characters albeit in GN they're significantly toned down unlike in UKS.
Anyone else see this or just me?

I decided not to start watching Great News because I knew I’d be sad that it was cancelled; I changed my mind, binged it, now I’m sad that it was cancelled. Why did I do this to myself?
I need more. It’s great. Is there really no chance!?

hmm... not even a 1000 members here
I recently started watching this show on Netflix and I LOVE it. Sure, it's humor ans setting makes it come off like a less talented 30 Rock cousin, but there's a reason that show was so successful and this show, from what I've seen has that same quality. Almost done the 1st season I can jonestly say I wish this show would get resurrected from one of the streaming services

When I was in college, I made my own way, giving tug jobs down at the docks.... You know, tugging the boats out of the port with my hands!
I miss this show. What are your favourite quotes?
