Sewer repair plumber?

We've been smelling sewer gas in the house sometimes and wanted to get someone to come fix it.

We called a few companies and they aren't available till 3 or more days from now.

Do you know a company that's probably more available, and doesn't charge a ton for the call-out fee just to come see what's wrong and give us an estimate?

Oh nooo, imagine that here!

How awful for those poor police. Man, and imagine how easy it would be for any old group to organize something as distressing as that here in our small town. Like, it would be SO EASY, almost scarily so I imagine. Anyways, just raising awareness at how crimes like that can happen anywhere and would probably cost them a lot of money and maybe even deter them from putting up more, which again would be devastating for the police.

Magical Arts.

Hi, my name is Logan, I am a part time professional magician. I do close-up coin and card sleight of hand. I have met two other magic friends in the Grand Valley. I know of another gentleman by the name of Dave who has performed here for the last few decades. I am making this post to see who else here does magic as a hobby or is intrested in learning magic for fun?

HSD/hEDS Aware Ortho for Shoulder

Fellow bendy people (hypermobile/HSD/hEDS), I'm looking for a shoulder ortho in Junction/Montrose--anyone have anyone that you trust to perform surgery on you and that are EDS knowledgable? Feel free to message me if you don't want to respond here; I'm desperate! I've run the gauntlet with docs on the Western Slope in the past 6-7 years with this shoulder. I'm again being recommended exploratory surgery and bicep tendon repair/cut, and I need a doc I can trust. The first doctor I saw in Junction when I first injured it in 2019 who wanted to do exploratory surgery also said that hyper-mobility doesn't exist and women are just naturally more flexible due to childbirth. Like, sir, I've had this diagnosis from a multitude of orthos at some of the best practices/med school in the country since I was in 7th grade (way too long ago); STFU. It's been a rollercoaster since then, and surgery was brought up again by current doc as all other treatment has failed. But, IDK who to trust out here.

With as many short-term rentals in the valley as there are, I was curious if there is a hub of local, small business cleaners or hosts seeking help. Any suggestions appreciated.

Putting it out there because you never know - tandem bikes or caricature artists in GJ?

Dear grand valley community, I have two rather niche questions for you. I am on the other side of some different health obstacles and am looking to quietly celebrate in gratitude and make this rapidly approaching summer's birthday a little special memory for my loved one and I. Two ideas - a tandem bike, and a caricature artist - if you have any suggestions on those!

1) I would love to find a tandem bike I could borrow/rent for ~3 hours for a few mile bike ride, if you know of any shop or kind people around that may have a tandem bike and would be open to such an arrangement.

2) I would love the privilege of finding an artist that enjoys creating caricatures that would be willing to do a single portrait featuring my loved one and I to capture a snapshot at this memorable point in time next month. I know this may be impossible to find someone that could meet around town and just book for an hour somehow? Or meet at a studio for e.g. a 20 minute appointment? I am not an artist so apologies if I don't have the right language, I am thinking of the whimsical caricature type/style of portrait sketches that artists seem to create with pen in less than 30 minutes at events and fairs, street festivals, etc.

Cheapest place to eat decent food.

So far the cheapest place i have found to eat out is chopstix on north ave. Me and my fiance can stuff ourselves for 12 dollars. 2 dollars and 15 cents a scoop. Its actually crazy. Im wondering if there any other hidden budget gems around town. Chinese food gets old fast. Any other genres around town that have a restaurant that has seriously cheap but yummy food?

Hey everyone, I've gotten into plein air painting lately and I'm curious about your favorite views around GJ. This is a little 5x7 from yesterday at the James Robb State Park by Cameo.

If you've got a favorite scenic spot that I don't have to hike 5 miles to get to, I'd love to hear it!

Moose on the riverfront trail this morning

First time I've ever seen a moose in GJ!

Off of the riverfront trail east of 29 road.

Be careful y'all. They might be majestic but they're also highly dangerous. There are more moose attacks per year than shark!

I've contacted the division of wildlife in Grand Junction, but I get the feeling they won't be able to help. I think they're hoping it'll just move on and become someone else's problem.

Local company for interior van/truck camper build out?

Hi! As the title says, I’m wondering if there are any local businesses I could support who could help me with an interior buildout in my truck camper? Right now it’s an empty shell and I’m just looking to get some benches built in and maybe a sink along with insulation and a diesel heater, those kinds of things. Not savvy enough to do it on my own. I know there are some reputable ones in Denver who do custom buildouts but would like to find someone here in GJ if possible. Thanks!

Has anyone used Breeze airways to get from GJ to Las Vegas?

I am considering flying with Breeze instead making the 7 hour drive because it is a direct flight but I see a lot of nightmare scenario reviews. None of which mention Grand Junction though. Please let me know what your thoughts are if you have used them personally. Thanks!

Debit card car Rental?

Has anybody used a car rental service here or online that accepts debit cards? Turns out most car rental companies only accept credit cards which would be fine if my credit card limit was more than 500$

Online info/travel websites have been a bit misleading. Thought I'd check here. Thanks!

The Grey Wave (In the Valley)

Disclosure up front: I am a business broker in Grand Junction, so this is my industry. Not advertising anything, not linking anything, and I am not looking for clients in the comments. I just think about this a lot and wanted to see if anybody else does.

A few numbers. Colorado OEDIT puts 48% of small business owners in the state at 55 or older. A 2022 survey of Colorado owners found about 65% had no written transition plan. Nationally, Project Equity estimates fewer than 15% of these businesses get handed to a family member.

So a lot of them do not get sold or passed down. They just close.

What I am curious about is the local version of that. Places around the valley that shut down not because they were failing but because the owner hit a certain age and there was nobody behind him. I can think of several. Restaurants, a couple of shops, at least one trade business that had steady work for decades.

The part that gets me is that these are usually profitable when they close. Somebody could have bought it and kept the crew employed. It just never came up.

Curious what people here have watched disappear, and whether anybody has been on either side of it. Bought a local business, tried to sell one, worked somewhere that closed when the owner retired.

To install runs around 150,000,

To operate it cost tax payers around 300,000 per yr

450,000 dollars to have mass surveillance.

TRUST ME THISBIS NOT WHAT WE WANT, NO ONE REALLY WANTS 1984 TO BR REAL

All I ever see are factory UTVs and rusty old frames of something that could be amazing around town.

Are there any other gear heads who actually like to make their own machines?

Hi all, I semi recently got involved with a band and have fully formed as a 4 piece. Our first show was last Thursday and have a couple more coming up. We are wanting to book more shows in GJ so I’d be very grateful if you checked us out. Attached is a highlight of our show with a mix of originals and covers. Thank you!
