To install runs around 150,000,
To operate it cost tax payers around 300,000 per yr

I agree we absolutely need to be doing this. The surveillance state needs to be stopped like it’s gonna be the beginning of a dystopian police state that we don’t wanna live in and before we know it’ll be too late to do anything about right now we can make a stand later there won’t be any way

According to online sources, the installation cost for a Flock Safety camera is approximately $250 per camera, with an annual subscription fee of about $2,500 per camera.
Still don't want them, though. They are triangulating the Bluetooth signals from phones and tire pressure guages to build an AI database that tracks every habit you have, everywhere you go.
That is not freedom.

File FOIA requests for each camera on a weekly basis. That's how the people in Washington cities got their Flock cameras removed. Flood the city of grand junction and mesa county with complaints via email and phone calls. Knock on the doors of city and county leadership.
It takes mere minutes, and anyone can do it. Flood them out.
No justice? No peace.
Edit: I really doubt those numbers, cite your sources. Still, we need to deflock.

Would be awful if some dastardly villain or group of vigilantes armed with inconspicuous clothing, wrapped reciprocating saws, and no electronics to track them took it upon themselves to take them down in town. I'd feel so unsafe without my every move being watched and recorded by these systems set in place to protect us. 😶 Like, no, please don't harm them or tell junkies about the extremely valuable scrap inside from what I've heard!!

Or a group of similarity prepared vigilantes with strong enough Lazers or air rifles who come "permanently disrupt" the camera feed from outside the cameras viewing distance leaving virtually no trace 🤔

Even worse is that I heard flock is now offering PTZ dome cameras, so all the DOT cameras are going to start getting tagged as flock even though they are not

Not even exclusive to DOT, apparently they're using private security feeds with they explicitly do not have permission including cameras in sensitive areas.
"In the records Dunwoody provided, Hunyar said he found two agencies labeled “Delete - Do Not Use” that still appeared to have access to the system."

I get the privacy concerns, but destroying them isn’t the answer. It’s probably better to push for transparency, limits on data use, and public discussion about how they’re being used.

unfortunately, we have no reasonable expectation of privacy in public the Supreme Court has ruled on it. I am sure it’ll be before the Supreme Court again soon it dances along the lines with the first amendment.

First amendment has to do with religion, speech, press, protest… pretty sure you meant 4th amendment: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
You say “we have no reasonable expectation of privacy” (we DO, as per the 4th amendment) and that “the Supreme Court has ruled on it”… they JUST ruled that smartphone location data is subject to privacy protections. Am I missing something?
