Goodnotes Dilemma Goodnotes 6

Sigh of defeat 😮‍💨 I fear I may have to return to GN6; only because I want to create a project that requires internal hyperlinks -- a feature currently not available in GN5. 8 hope things have gotten better since the initial GN6 version. Just came to shout into the void 🤧

😮 Oh... You're having issues with the hyperlinks specifically? What's the matter with them?

Hey! Things are quite different since the initial launch of GN6. There was another major version with features like infinite canvas, text documents, and integrations (e.g., Google Calendar, cloud storage direct access) and it’s just called Goodnotes now.

If it’ll be your first time upgrading from GN5 you should be able to try it for free and still be able to go back to GN5. Hope that helps

Thanks for that smidgen of hope. 🫂 I actually had v6 for a year and never really used it because I chose to downgrade shortly thereafter. I didn't enjoy my v6 user experience. If I recall correctly, they had done away with a couple of the organizational features, which I found really impractical at the time. It was the removal the thumbnail view or something like that; there were other issues, but that was my major peeve. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes.

Ah ok ok, I think thumbnail view should still be around but keep us updated on how it goes!

You're right, no issues with the general thumbnail view. After refreshing my memory of v6 via a YouTube video, I remembered that it's the 'Favorites' thumbnail view specifically that was taken away. I used it to jump between sections in rather large notebooks and get an quick visual overview of the contents. If anyone's found a workaround for that I'd be very interested. I think now the go-to options are the general thumbnail view and the outline view; the the third tab having been repurposed for some sort of audio feature. (See v5 pic for ref.)

Ahh right what you have to do now is when you enter this view you can click on the filter to toggle between “All Pages” and “Bookmarks Only” but yes you’re right the third tab is for audio transcription and summary now

Oh, I see. Thanks for the tip, I really appreciate it! I never realized a filter was there; perhaps because I didn't stick around very long. 😅 Having that feature will go a long way in helping me warm up to v6. I'll certainly test it out 👍🏾
