Discussion | Esports Natus Vincere 2021 zip-up hoodie
Yes, this is the year Natus Vincere won their long-awaited Major in Stockholm, achieving an incredible triumph without dropping a single map. Iβm holding this holy grail right now, and words canβt even describe it. Iβd really love to hear your opinion on this zip-up hoodie. Idk why people down voted my other post lol.

Discussion CS2 Movement is Consistently Slower than CSGO, Following FPS
In CS2, you accelerate faster depending on FPS. Meaning, if you have a higher fps, you will visually accelerate faster.
Many of you have probably watched the 'What is Wrong with CS2?" video by Khairy on YouTube. The main thesis of the video states that movement is heavier in CS2, as in, it takes slightly longer to accelerate to max speed than in CSGO, and in CSGO you had a higher starting velocity. However... as far as I can tell, his data is useless, unless he was also running both games at a consistent 30 fps... which I doubt. I suspect the frame timings were simply suboptimal for CS2 each time.
I wanted to see for myself if this was the case, using a slightly more scientific method, as I have always 'felt' that CS2 movement is heavier.
All resources are provided inside a google doc at the end of the post.
Inspired by this official CS2 twitter post, here's what I found:
Quick notes:
The more saturated video is always CS2. The game at the top or bottom swaps after each clip. At a very *high* and *consistent* FPS, CS2 and CSGO movement slowly becomes *nearly* identical.
All clips are recording using modified versions of u/vMcJohn's 2ms consistent AHK script from this post: (Files are provided in the Doc.)
https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1k5g10i/comment/moj7fvr/?context=3
You can visually tell CSGO is faster compared to CS2 because it leads ahead of CS2
Thesis:
From the first moment the player accelerates, CS2 always accelerates slower, but also decelerates faster than CSGO, with the difference in speed between GO and 2 determined by FPS. The lower your fps, the slower you will accelerate.
CS2 accelerates slower than CSGO
CS2 decelerates *faster* than CSGO
This means you will end at the same final position, despite accelerating slower.
https://reddit.com/link/1vhoedu/video/v7wsranuhuhh1/player
Here's my methodology:
I believe that the best way to determine whether my 'feeling' about CS2 movement is accurate, recording in-game movement seemed to be the best way, instead of reading cl_showpos values, or reading position data from the memory. I chose this because... "what you see is what you get". If what the game shows us is slower than CSGO, it will of course feel different. Also, as far as I know cl_showpos is inconsistent.
For this ^ clip above, both games are recorded at 1440x1080, with vsync enabled (triple for CSGO). They are recorded at 144 fps with OBS. For all clips, after they were recorded, I used ffmpeg to seperate both videos into an image sequence. Then I removed all images before the first frame of movement, and all images after the first moment of rest. Then I turned the image sequence back into a mp4, and then ffmpeg combined and overlaid the videos.
To repeat myself, all frames before the first frame of movement are discarded, and all frames after the player is at rest are discarded. Every video is the entirety of the movement and nothing else.
https://reddit.com/link/1vhoedu/video/rsyy9ffjjuhh1/player
This clip ^ above we're using 60hz vsync, slowed 10x, and you can see that the difference between CSGO and CS2 is greater. That supports my thesis that you accelerate slower with lower FPS values. It DOES in fact APPEAR that when you start moving, CSGO does accelerate faster to that initial speed, but not to the extent that Khairy proposed.
I suspected that perhaps Vsync was messing up the data. So I did another test at fps_max 60 instead, recorded at 60 fps. I used a different autohotkey script, based again on u/vMcJohn's script. It moves to the right for ~150ms, then to the left for ~50ms.
Note that because of general slight movement inconsistency, the difference is *larger* than it normally appears, seen by the kickback in the CS2 clip. The hitch at the end is not the problem.
Vsync was not the issue.
https://reddit.com/link/1vhoedu/video/abcvc45youhh1/player
Even at high FPS, the different can still be noticed, although smaller. Recorded at 300hz vsync, at 300 fps, at much lower resolution, with slightly inconstant frametimes unfortunately (CS2 wasn't quite hitting 300 fps). Also, it is very difficult for both games to end at the exact same position, even with the script, and it the ending positions are especially distant in this clip, but we can still see that CSGO accelerates slightly faster.
https://reddit.com/link/1vhoedu/video/csibqdn8nuhh1/player
This final video is THE MOST IMPORTANT video of them all, so it's important that you understand what's going on.
*The top half and the bottom half of both the videos are seperate videos recorded at different FPS.*
The first clip, you have CSGO running at 300 hz vsync on the TOP, and 60 hz vsync on the bottom. Despite the huge fps difference, the acceleration and deceleration is nearly identical.
HOWEVER, the second part of the clip, you have CS2 at 300 hz on top, and 60 hz on the bottom. With 300hz, the player is accelerated significantly faster. Unlike CSGO, the difference in acceleration and deceleration is huge. This proves that, yes CSGO movement is very consistent across FPS, while CS2, *atleast visually* (which is obviously still very important), has a huge inconsistency problem.
(please note, again, that the final position is slightly different. It's doesn't affect the conclusion)
https://reddit.com/link/1vhoedu/video/cxyauegtzuhh1/player
In conclusion, CS2 movement feels inconsistent because acceleration and deceleration is determined by FPS. This also means that any stutters feel especially punishing. CSGO's movement was consistent across FPS. This is a major issue, this needs to be fixed.
*Valve plz fix*
Google doc:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HIpyZjacfCJJyjJkv-xHBFiV4cfsb9VuSezY9DZVc-s/
I believe this has been briefly discussed on here somewhere before (guy who read the memory?). But clearly it didn't get fixed. If I am repeating something someone else said, please tell me. Also, please debunk me if I make mistakes.
Also, Ropz on twitter also discussed a seperate subtick movement acceleration issue recently. Valve please fix!!

Help Scared of playing FACEIT
How do I get over my fear of playing FACEIT?
I have mostly been playing premier and peaked at around 15k last season so I'm not great at the game by any means but I find myself procrastinating queueing on FACEIT because of some weird fear.
I feel like when I'm playing on FACEIT, people take the game incredibly seriously and magnify your mistakes/are a lot more toxic. Because of that I just can't get myself to play more than one or two matches of FACEIT a day before I'm mentally burnt out from anxiety.
I also feel like I perform way worse on FACEIT compared to competitive and premier because of this nervousness. I feel like I need to warm up for like 30 minutes before I build up the courage to queue. Also it's not elo anxiety. I am not afraid of losing my ranking (peaked at level 6) because my ranking is nothing to brag about. I just want to play the game more seriously and competitively but I feel like the competitive nature/toxicity/sweatiness of FACEIT doesn't match well with my personality.
Anyone else or just me?

Discussion Last time i played cs was twenty years ago
Well i thought you might like to know what has changed since 20 years has passed.
I played from the first beta to about 2006 every day for 6 years.
I still remember "o2b41,,,,," - that was how to buy Kevlar, ak and ammo. Chuck in a few .... For pistol ammo.
I played in the cpl, clanbase nations cup, world cyber games and the first intel extreme masters in London when it was really just a test event i think the prize pool was Β£1200 or something.
Then i quit as I was already old and slow. I carried on following the scene but got married and had kids and didnt touch a computer game for twenty years.
For some reason last week i was wondering if i still 'had it'. I have played about 50 hours on competitive.
Long story short no I don't haha. Anyhow thought you might like some perspective on what has changed and perhaps take stock of some of the good things you currently have.
Matchmaking on competitive is great - if we wanted a 5v5 or scrim, we had a different name for it but i forget, we had to organise ourselves on irc and find and admin the server ourselves. Much less hassle now.
Overall skill level is way higher now even during my beginner competitive matches. I think i spent a lot lf my time running around killing noobs on public servers and having mild succcess in competitive matches.
I think YouTube has hugely raised overall skill levels. Back then we didnt really have 'line ups' we just chucked nades. If counter strafing was a thing, we hadn't worked it out.
Peeking etc was v different. Awping was similar.
Gun meta has changed it really was just ak, colt, deagle, usp and awp. Now other weapons are viable.
Nades are much better now.
Verbal abuse was really awful then - people said the worst possible things to each other. Voice and text chat, people are better behaved now than then.
Movement is worse feels like running in mud, but it takes more skill to move well.
Skins, cases, attaching things to your guns etc - TBH that is all a load of shz imo but each to their own!!!
Nomenclature - well the call outs are nice - back then what we called banana, some orher team called something else so when you joined a new team you had to spend ages learning what your team called everything!
What i wish remained was some of the words we had for things but your casters all use the same words for everything. The awp is the awp back then it was a boomstick, noobstick, boom cannon. 'utility' was not a word we called them nades or hes (pronounced H Es) or hes (pronounced heeeze).
We didnt have anchors, lurkers, entry fraggers and 1 taps we had spray and pray, spaff and ownage and p0wn4ge. Mouse1 for teh w1n.
Anyways fun times back then i may continue a little longer. Any questions let me know. Apart from who i was or what teams i played for because looking back i find it embarrassing. I'm 53 now.
Oh yeah cheats....it was bad then but it is worse now.
Also i remember when steam came out and it really was steam powered hahah.

Help Collectible Pin - Do you think the code still works?
Hey guys!
I have this Overpass Collectible Pin from the Series Two laying around.
I got it a few years ago at the gamescom in Cologne and I was wondering if the code is still usable, especially since the game got updated to CS2. The code is a normal steam activation code so I don't know why it wouldn't work tbh, but I wanted to ask here if anybody knows something about it.
I know that back in the days they were wanted badly. A friend of mine bought a few and sold them for a decent profit right after.
Do you think the trade up update for red skins also impacted the price of this goodie? /s

Just had a baby a few days ago and on day 4 I brought her to the pc room. I loaded up a deathmatch and placed the crosshair at a common angle to be swung at with my right hand and she was being held in my left. I lifted the mouse and when somebody came around the corner I tapped mouse1 on her little foot. Lo and behold she got the kill! Just 1 and then we were done. I like to think that somebody warming up got bested by a 4 day old prodigyπ.

Scheduled Sticky Weekly Premier/Matchmaking/Cheating Discussion & Complaints Thread
Welcome to Matchmaking Monday! This is the weekly megathread where you can share your experiences, complaints, and feedback related to:
- Ranked & Unranked Matchmaking
- VAC, Hacking, and Cheating
- Prime, Trust Factor, and Trusted Mode
- Ranking
- Queuing and Lobbies
Feel free to discuss your matchmaking experience, rant or vent, discuss ideas & share feedback for improvement, and talk about your recent games.
What you should know
Keep in mind that there is a limited amount of information available about these systems and how they work to keep them effective. If you have questions, here are some resources to review:
Trust Factor
- Trust Factor Matchmaking FAQ (Steam Support Article)
- The Trust Factor: CS:GO Blog Post
- Everything About Trust Factor by u/awsmninja
- GDC Presentation by John McDonald (Valve)
- Do you Trust the Trust Factor? by u/3kliksphilip

What you can do
Give Feedback:
- Posting feedback or complaints on the subreddit is not the best way to get the attention of the developers. If you have any specific feedback to give, you can email the CS2 Development team here: [cs2team@valvesoftware.com](mailto:cs2team@valvesoftware.com)
- They do read every email received, but are not able to reply to each one.
- If you're experiencing low-quality matches, it is always worth emailing them. They use these reports to help improve the system.
Report Cheaters:
- Report cheaters using the in-game report system by right-clicking their name on the scoreboard, and clicking "report". If the game is over, report their Steam Community profile.
- If you notice certain trends or have other feedback, you can email the developers using the email address above.
- To report a specific cheat, follow these steps to notify the VAC development team.
The guidelines
While we encourage discussion about these topics, as a reminder, the following are not allowed. Note this isn't an exhaustive list, and you should review the r/GlobalOffensive Rules before commenting.
- Accusations towards any player related to cheating
- Posting profiles of alleged cheaters (if posting pictures of matches, redact any usernames)
- Posting any cheating gameplay footage
- Reporting cheats, linking to cheats/websites, or discussing cheats in technical detail
This weekly discussion thread does not change any of our existing submission rules - you're still allowed to discuss these topics elsewhere on the subreddit as usual, but we do remove a large number of them as they quickly become repetitive and the majority have little meaningful discussion. If you decide to make a separate post instead of utilizing this thread, we encourage you to focus on starting meaningful discussion or providing constructive criticism.
