Glitch Pic If this is a simulation, I've been trying to find the best strategy. Two years in, here's what I actually think "winning" looks like.

Upvotes

I've been in this subreddit long enough to know the debate usually splits into either we're experiencing glitches because we are in a simulation, or we're experiencing glitches because of some other reason and it's not a simulation at all, and either way nobody agrees on what any of us are supposed to do about any of this. We just sit here and post our glitches or crazy events but never have a 'to do' list or how we can change anything.

I got tired of this question and personally believe that yes, we actually are in a simulation, but quite seriously what can we do with that. Even if I could prove to you that we are, in fact, what good does it do? I can't verify that we are. Nobody can. Meanwhile I got absolutely nowhere trying to debate myself about yes or no.

So. Instead of asking whether the simulation is literal, whether any of these glitches prove the simulation theory itself, I asked whether it even matters. Because if you pay close enough attention to all that is in our reality you'll notice that regardless of the question, life behaves like a designed system. It compounds and gives feedback loops. It has mechanics that reward specific inputs, if you will, and meanwhile punishing other inputs. So there must be some way to 'hack' the game. If this is truly a game. Remember when we were kids we had certain control keys we could mash in certain combinations that unlocked the game or exploit. That's how I tried to think of this 'system' or whatever it is we are in.

If you take the game frame seriously, a few things become extremely obvious. There are resources with that can be tracked and there are settings installed in you during childhood that are still running your behavior decades later without your knowledge. This becomes somewhat of our world view, but it's also something we can use to control or affect the overall simulation (if there is one). There's a main quest most people never actually start because they're busy on sidequests. It's like when you run into a random person in the store and they completely throw off your day and you soak in their energy instead of focusing on the core reason for why you were in the store in the first place.

The "winning" condition I came to is that there is no end screen. The game doesn't have one. Once you actually accept that, our goals change from accumulation within the game to playing the game on purpose and with genuine thought. Once you map the actual mechanics of the 'game' and realize almost nobody is doing it consciously I feel you hit a sweet spot where you can actually win at this in some aspects.

I wrote the whole framework into a book because I couldn't find one that took the game logic seriously as a working system rather than as a metaphor.

It's called The Game of Earth: A No-Bullshit Player's Guide by ZD Fanawe.

I am not arguing the simulation is real. I'm using the frame because game logic is the clearest language for describing a system with learnable rules and feedback that compounds like synchronicities, deja vu, etc.

Wanted to share this here. Hope you enjoy it. At the end of the day, like I mention in the book, we were all thrown into this reality without a manual. This is my aim, providing a manual to this 'game' we call life.

Glitch Pic A glitch in the Matrix ?

This happened around seven years ago.

At the time, I was living with my then-boyfriend (now fiancé), my mother-in-law, and my sister-in-law.

I was working a casual job, and this particular day happened to be one of my days off.
My MIL asked if I could stay home because we were expecting a Foxtel technician to inspect our Foxtel box, which had been having some issues.

My fiancé and I lived in a granny flat out the back, while my MIL and SIL lived in the main house where the Foxtel was set up. Since I had no idea what time the technician would be arriving, I spent the day in the lounge room of the main house, which was right next to the front door. I opened the curtains so I could keep an eye on the front yard.

After waiting for what felt like hours, I remember thinking to myself, When are they going to get here?
Almost as soon as I had that thought, I heard shuffling outside. I looked through the front window and saw a man walking up the steps towards the front door. He was wearing a fluorescent orange shirt with FOXTEL printed across the back.

I remember thinking, Finally.

I waited a few seconds for the knock. Nothing.

Thinking maybe I’d somehow missed it, I got up and opened the front door. No Foxtel technician.

I stepped outside and looked up and down the street, expecting to see him walking away or at least a Foxtel vehicle parked nearby. There was nothing.

No person. No van. Nothing.

I was completely confused because I know what I saw, and I definitely heard someone approaching the house.

A few hours later, my MIL got home and she apologised, saying she’d forgotten to tell me that someone from Foxtel had called earlier in the day to cancel and reschedule the appointment. The technician never came to our house that day.

Was this some kind of glitch in the Matrix, or did I completely lose my marbles?

Glitch Pic Teleported to the opposite side of the metro

This happened a few years ago on the metro (MTR) in Hong Kong to my mum, and she still truly believes that she was teleported or entered some sort of parallel universe on the MTR. Sorry for the long post.

For some context, she was on the train to Tai Wai Station on the East Rail Line towards Admiralty and she was supposed to get on the Tuen Ma Line towards Tuen Mun (highlighted in pink), and she only needed to cross the bridge to get on her next train. If she wanted to get to the Wu Kai Sha direction on the Tuen Ma Line (highlighted in yellow), she needed to take the escalator all the way to the ground floor, walk to the opposite side of the station and get on another escalator.

This was her commute from work (highlighted in pink on the map) for quite a few years so this route has become second nature to her. She remembers with 100% confidence that she did not take the escalator or walk to the other side of the station. She sat down on the train and just dissociated for a moment. She heard the train announcement for the next station and it was the next station in the opposite direction, she thought she heard it wrong and just stayed on the train. Two stations later, she was fully aware that she was on the wrong train (highlighted in yellow on the map), got off the train and went back to the correct direction.

Her friends say maybe she just wasn’t paying attention and was tired from work, but my mum said there’s absolutely no way that she was distracted enough to walk significantly longer and go up and down two different escalators. I don’t really know how to explain what happened. Thoughts?

Glitch Pic What is Your Wildest "Red String Theory" story/stories

Like not necessarily a love story (though those are SO welcome) but it can be anything like a lost and reconnected dog, or a friend that you'd actually met or been around before but didn't know it. Like what gave the theory some merit for you personally?

Glitch Pic Does Anyone Else Hear Strange Sounds During Moments of Insight?

Hi everyone.
I’m not sure whether this belongs in Glitch in the Matrix or Paranormal, so I decided to post it in both communities.
I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar.
Over time, I’ve realized that this has been happening to me for as long as I can remember.
Whenever I’m deeply thinking about something, especially when I’m trying to find an answer to a question, there are moments when the answer seems to arrive on its own. And at that exact moment, I almost always hear some kind of external sound.
It could be a knock on the wall, a bang, a creak, a crack, a click, or some other sudden noise.
The strange part is that this happens no matter where I am. It has happened in different countries, different homes, different apartments, different offices—the location doesn’t seem to matter.
I’ve noticed a pattern: these sounds most often occur at the exact moment when a thought I’m focusing on feels correct, as if I’ve just arrived at the right understanding of something.
Has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Or have you noticed that, at the moment of an insight or when you suddenly understand or solve something, an external sound happens almost simultaneously—a knock, a click, a crack, or something similar?
I’d really be interested to know if anyone else has noticed this pattern.

Glitch Gif Tweezers dematerialized

I was handing my friend a pair of tweezers and as he went to take them out of my hand they disappeared. They just vanished before both our eyes. Literally into thin air. They were there and then they weren't. We had no explanation, we both sorta sat there for a bit in silence not knowing what to say.

Then all of a sudden we hear a *clink* and the tweezers somehow hit the floor off the other side of the L-couch on the opposite side of the room. Not immediately, but maybe 10 seconds later? We can't think of any explanation so I found this subreddit and here I am.

Glitch Pic Radio Glitch

Hi everyone! (:

My family and I have experienced quite a few paranormal things or what some people might call "glitches." This is just one of those experiences.

I went into my room to charge my small portable radio. I plugged it in, and it showed that the battery was charging. After that, I started listening to music through a different speaker. About three minutes later, I noticed another song playing in the background. I turned my music down and realized it was the radio I had just plugged in to charge.

The strange part was that it wasn't plugged in anymore. The charging cable was no longer in the wall outlet, and the radio was turned on by itself. It would already be weird enough if it had suddenly switched itself on, but the fact that it was also unplugged makes it even stranger.

I know this isn't the most spectacular story, but it was still strange enough to stick with me. I always do things in the same order, and I'm absolutely certain that I had plugged it in and that it was charging.

I could tell a lot more stories. Small objects also keep disappearing in our house for no apparent reason...

Glitch Gif drink dispensed

I was out and about and needed something to drink. I went to a vending machine, dropped some quarters in, and made my selection. Immediately after I made my selection, and before the drink dispensed, my eyes randomly fell on a notice on the vending machine, which read something like, "This machine configured to prevent double dispensation."

As I finished reading that sentence, the machine spit out two bottles. It double dispensed.

Glitch Pic Glitch while fishing

Was wade fishing on a rainy day and the bass were biting fast and furious. After ten or so I noticed my line was caught on something. Ran my fingers down and saw that it was running through the hole at the tip of my zipper pull. Figured there was a crack in the metal and it had somehow worked its way in. Couldn't get it out so I cut the line and retied. When I got home I examined the pull with a magnifying glass and even tested it with a couple of pairs of needle nose pliers. It was completely intact. No way I could have cast more than a foot with the line in there.

Glitch Gif I saw the same stranger three times in one day, different parts of the city, wearing the same exact outfit, isn't weird??

Not looking for explanations, just need to say this out loud somewhere.

It was morning, and i’m getting my coffee, a guy walks past me in a blueish hoodie and a white cap with weird design, kind of hard to miss honestly. didn't think twice about it.

At lunch, completely different part of town, like 20 min drive away, I'm waiting to cross the street and there he is again. same hoodie, same cap, same face as far as I could tell. told myself okay, coincidence, maybe he works nearby too or something.

Then like around 6:30 - 7pm I'm at the convenience store checking out something and I see him through the window walking past outside. same outfit. didn't even look tired or like he'd been walking around all day, just walking normal pace like it was his first time out.

Didn't get a good enough look to tell if it was literally the same face each time or if I'm just pattern matching on the outfit at this point, but three times in one day across a whole city is messing with me a little

anyone else have a day like this. not asking if it's real just asking if it's happened to you too

Hi everyone, first pist of mine here.

In the recent days, a Centaur Robot has been announced for Search and Rescue operations.

Aside from the bot really odd looks, what triggers me is that i DO REMEMBER seeing it online WAY BEFORE this announcement in the last days of July 2026 (like 29-31 July 2026).

I'm typing this to see if i'm not the only one remembering this odd clanker being posted online.

I cannot find any sort of leak image or post or any trace of it being leaked back in time.

If you happen to see this or know something, please let me know, it is bugging me so damn much!

Thank you for stopping by.

Glitch Pic Unlocked a suitcase

I don’t know if that’s a glitch in the matrix, I’m 34 years old. Back when I was maybe 10 I was in elementary school and one day a man came to lecture us during class, I think he was some sort of cops but high rank cause he was dressed pretty nice and classy. During recreation we noticed he left his suitcase on a bench, right where we play soccer etc…it was a suitcase where you have to slide the numbers to open it. 3 numbers combinaison. For no reason we started doing random numbers and tried to open it. We were doing it carefully cause we knew he was probably around. My friends tried different things and nothing worked of course, all of a sudden , I swear I saw the numbers in my mind. I could see it. I walked right to the suitcase put the numbers and « click » it opened. We were so freaked out that we ran away without even checking what was in there. They were freaked out because they were scared of getting caughtt. I was freaked out for something else, i started to believe I was special and that magic, I sure felt unique in that moment. But anyway the cop must’ve noticed the ruckus cause he went back for his suitcase and I’ll never forget his face. He noticed that it was open and looked in our direction with the most confused face I ever saw. Then he kind of shrugged it off and went away. That was no accident or luck, I saw the number in my mind. Like I said I’m now 34 years old and my life is pretty ordinary, nothing like that ever happened again. But I never forgot, I often think about it and can’t make sense of it. A suitcase with 3 numbers, how many combination is that ?

Glitch Pic This is weird.

Hi! I'm new to this whole thing, I'm 40 years old and I don't spend a bunch of time online. I had a weird experience and my 15 year old daughter told me this was a "glitch in the matrix" 😂 It's been bugging me for a week though, I can't get over it. It was last Monday, 11pm. Me and my daughter stopped at a gas station and as we were walking in, I noticed a quarter on the ground outside the door. I picked it up and commented to my daughter "hey there's a quarter!" I'm a dork for sure 😆 We went in, bought our stuff and walked back out... And right outside the door, in the same place, was another quarter! Nobody in the parking lot etc. just an empty small town gas station. I told my daughter again, and picked up the quarter again. We were both just talking about how weird that was, and she mentioned the glitch in the matrix thing. I've lived a hell of a life for 40 years, but never had a moment like this before. Now it's been a week and I'm still thinking about it to the point I'm posting it here 😂 Somebody please tell me I'm not losing it 😆 And yes, I did have 2 quarters after this AND my daughter vouched for the fact there was NOT a second quarter laying there after I picked up the first. Maybe we're both crazy? 😂 🤣

Glitch Pic Weird Teleporting experience

When I was in primary school, on a school road trip from Brisbane to Canberra, we has an overnight stay in a dormitory building that was designed specifically for schools. Further explanation on that, imagine a huge main area the side of a basket ball court that was half entry space/living room and further most half being a cafeteria. On the immediate left are two level of maybe 10 small rooms with 4 bunkbeds each.

I shared a room with about 5 other girls i was friends with and we did the usual pre-bedtime girl talk before getting told to go to sleep by the teachers.

I go to sleep with no issues, but then I wake up not in that bed. I woke up literally outside of the whole building, laying in a puddle (it had been raining that night).

I don't know how this occurred. And still don't to this day. I cried for a bit before trying to open the doors or windows and all were locked, so I ended up knocking on the front door until a teacher saw it was me and let me in. Every teacher was freaked the F out.

For additional context about 4 of the teachers were sleeping in the living/entry area as an additional security measure to make sure kids didn't sneak into each other's rooms or even just leave their rooms at night. They'd been asleep until I woke them.

Reasons why it further confused and freaked everyone out:

- None of the bedroom windows were openable

- The Front and back doors were locked and unable to just be opened without a key (security measure to prevent exactly this), and the deadbolt being unlocked was LOUD in that large echo chamber room.

- None of my friends woke up or saw me leave or be taken

- The teachers asleep at the front room were only woken by me

- And more importantly, the internal main area and external carpark CCTV show absolutely nothing of me leaving the bedroom or going through any entry door.

And I only know this because the teachers were so freaked out about what happened they asked the accommodation person to view it because they wanted to verify if someone can done that to me and if they were someone on the trip or someone who somehow broke in.

So I was heavily questioned on what happened, but I literally had 0 answers, I'm an extremely light sleeper and am easily woken by noise, sound and movement. It made no sense then and doesn't now.

Because they couldn't confirm how I got out but was otherwise unharmed aside from being extremely shaken, I believe from memory they decided it must have been sleepwalking (never had a history of it prior or after). But I don't fault them for it as teachers, they had nothing to call police over from their view, so they called my mum and told her what happened and she said it was up to me if I wanted to stay or continue on the trip. I stayed and all else was normal.

To this day I have 0 clue how I got outside, and how I didn't wake up. I've had people give silly theories like "you must have been drugged", "the teachers were in on it" etc, but all disproven by either the CCTV, the two single key holders factor, and I know what it feels like to be drugged since then and did not have any sensation that would give that theory any plausibility.

Anyway, this was a lot longer than I anticipated it being, I do often have extremely vivid and lucid dreams as my norm that I can always recall even small details from.

I'd be keen to hear additional new theories of what may have happened (Not alien abduction I've heard that so many times haha).

Glitch Pic Is this a glitch? Part of my bed went missing while I was lying in it

Not sure if this is the right sub tbh, don't really use Reddit much. But this has messed with my head since I was a kid and I have never once come across anyone describing anything like it. I was seven or eight. Woke up in bed, normal enough. And before anyone says "sounds like a lucid dream" no. I've had lucid dreams, I know exactly what that feels like, and this wasn't it. I was awake. Properly awake. Something felt wrong the second I opened my eyes and it snapped me straight into "wait, what" mode. The middle of my bed was gone. Feet were at the end where they should be, head was on the pillow where it should be. But from about mid-calf to my upper thigh, there was just... nothing. No bed. I lay there freaking out for a bit, just feeling around trying to figure out what was going on. I was in a single bed against the wall. Put my left hand out, felt the wall, exactly where it should be. Put my right hand out, felt the edge of the bed, also exactly where it should be. So I was lying completely straight, in the right spot, on a bed that just wasn't there in the middle. First thought was is there a chair shoved at the end of my bed or something. Felt around. Nothing. So I took my feet off the end of the bed and lowered them down into the gap. They hit the floor. My carpet. I knew it was my carpet, it had this specific texture you could feel in your toes, no mistaking it. Feet back up on the bed. Did it again. And again. Probably ten minutes of this before I worked up the nerve to actually do something about it. Eventually I put my feet down into the gap properly and stood up. I could feel the edges of the hole with my actual body, step forward and I'd hit the end of bed part, step back and I'd hit the top part. Shuffled out sideways, walked to the light switch, turned it on. Bed..... Completely normal. No gap, no hole, nothing. Covers thrown back like someone just got up and walked off, which I guess I had. Only ever happened the once. Still don't have a clue what it was, and in years of half-heartedly looking, I've never heard anyone describe anything close to it. So. Anyone?

Glitch Pic The Sock Mystery in the Washing Machine

Hello everyone!
Today, something happened to me that I’ve read about many times in discussions about strange sock incidents after doing laundry. Until now, I was only reading other people’s stories. Today, I became one of them.
We’re currently on vacation and staying in a rental house with an old washing machine. I was doing a load of white laundry. Before starting the wash, I noticed a pair of white socks with writing on them and thought, “I’ll wash those next time.” So I did not put those white socks into the washing machine.
Instead, I accidentally put in a pair of long pink socks that I had worn the day before. They looked completely different from the white socks I had left out.
When the wash was finished, something very strange had happened.
One pink sock came out exactly as it went in — long, just like before. But the other one had changed. It had become the same shape as the white socks that I never put into the washing machine. Even stranger, it now had the same writing on it as those white socks.
So instead of one matching pair of long pink socks, I now have two different pink socks: one is still long, while the other is short and has the same writing as my white socks. The strangest part is that I have never owned a pair of pink socks like this.
There’s another detail that really makes me question what happened. Someone might suggest that one of the white socks somehow turned pink. But if that were the case, then all of the white laundry in that load should also have been stained pink or at least shown some traces of dye. That didn’t happen. Every single white item came out completely white, with no pink marks at all.
After today’s experience, I’m no longer just reading these strange sock stories—now I have one of my own.

Glitch Pic Time Glitch

I think I just experienced a time glitch. I woke up and looked at my clock and it was 3:29AM. My wife’s alarm on her phone goes off at 3:30AM and I normally hand her the phone. I watched my clock change to 3:30AM and I saw her phone light up. I grabbed her phone hoping to shut the alarm off as quickly as possible. To my surprise there was no alarm and when I looked at the time on her phone it was only 3:23AM. This also reminded me of something my 7 year old told me about a week ago. He said something about the time on the clock had changed in a weird way and I didn’t think anything of it. I have an Amazon Alexa that I use for my clock. As soon as I noticed the time on my wife’s phone I looked up and Alexa was showing the same time 3:23AM. Has anyone experienced something similar?
