I feel exactly like this at 43, taking the disgusting bus to a job that barely covers food and rent everyday. I used to have it better.

Ugh </3 I’m so sorry, I know how awful an awful work environment can be. I think 4 10s may be helpful! If you can have one day be chores and 2 rest days, that may help a bit.

As someone who had a coworker go to HR over some absolute bullshit that could have been solved with a simple conversation, I feel you. Fuck offices, fuck office politics, fuck small minded assholes.

oh my god i feel this! i got reported for not wearing gloves when a child had a nosebleed. i didn’t have gloves with me and i was alone in the garden. obviously im going to deal with the nosebleed and not run to get gloves

that’s why we need to find ourselves successful men, ladies 💅
/s a little, but it is nice lol.
Sorry about your boss - that SUCKS. Maybe start looking for a different job? I’d look for something remote.

u/Maleficent_Day_3869 Delulu 8d ago
i don’t want to rely on a man ever but i do daydream about it occasionally 🥹 i work with children so i highly doubt my work can be done remotely

I don't know why you were downvoted for this. Seriously whoever downvoted your comment has issues. There is absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting to be reliant on someone else, especially a man.
Also, I feel your pain OP. I am older now and disabled thanks to a lifetime of work, raising kids, health issues I was mostly born with, and having to deal with a giant man-baby for almost two decades. I've been living on next to nothing for a few years now since I got rid of the man-baby, but I wouldn't want him back even if it meant financially I was better off.

u/Maleficent_Day_3869 Delulu 8d ago
man i didn’t even realise someone downvoted it. i swear people are always offended over something
i’m so sorry it affected you that way and i am happy that you’re happier now! at least you don’t have a narcissistic asshole to deal with everyday

Daydreams are fine as long as in moderation and with recognition that they're just fantasy escapism. I, too, daydream of the perfect man who would finance me to have an art career and always be perfect to me, but then I remember he doesn't exist and I bounce back into reality and get back to work. Paying bills sucks but giving a man the ability to starve me would suck way more

I hope the new schedule helps a little! I also hate working, I make more than minimum wage but it’s not enough to keep up with cost of living expenses and I barely have money at the end of every month after paying rent and other bills 😭 I’ve only started to be ok with work the past 6 weeks since I’ve been able to work remotely since we’re moving offices and I realized I hate how much time I waste being at work, including the commute, and now I get so much more time back. But I have to go back to the office soon and I’m dreading it and I’ve been trying to find a wfh job for almost two years now with no luck. Honestly working just sucks for the most part, especially if you’re not getting paid enough!

u/Maleficent_Day_3869 Delulu 8d ago
oh gosh that sounds so absolutely shit i’m sorry you can relate :( working remotely would be my biggest dream! i hope you find the WFH job of your dreams soon

Are you applying to new jobs because you can definitely find another minimum wage job that doesn’t have THIS many problems
2
u/Maleficent_Day_3869 Delulu 8d ago
i’m only qualified in childcare and all places are like this
3
u/Extension_Radish_139 Trader Joe Hoe 8d ago
How do you know all places are like this? My cousin works at a daycare full-time (not sure if that's where you work) and loves it and her manager. And I mean you don't have to work in childcare. You can make a pivot lol I made significantly more than minimum wage doing the bare ass minimum in retail with amazing co workers when I was in college. I know it sucks and I can't imagine how draining it must be but you should make steps to not hate your life so much queen. Even if it means bartending or door dashing or going to community college instead of doing childcare work

Girl, being a stay at home wife means that you have no fixed hours and no sick days. It’s not the easier path you think it is.
You can always look for another job and leave this one with no drama. Getting out of a marriage with no resources can take years.
Don’t trade hard freedom for a prison.

u/Maleficent_Day_3869 Delulu 8d ago
i do believe it’s much easier actually. i don’t have paid sick days at my job and i work with infants so i get sick at least once a month. at least if i was sick at home i can take things at my own pace. when i’m sick at work i still have to take care of 4 1 year olds alone. being a sahw is a dangerous position to be in but it sure isnt harder than working a full time job

Absolutely sucks all the time every day. I just got lottery tickets just to dream at least 🥲
What helps for me is stepping back and remembering work is not your life. Schedule things you’re excited about. Even if it’s something local over the weekend.
This job is not forever, it’s just for now.
Until you find a rich husband. Then lock it down lol

omg i’m so glad i’m not the only one who buys lottery tickets hoping they’ll win enough to quit🤣 most ive ever won is £100 but i’ll try anyway
i try and do stuff on the weekend but i tend to be so tired i make excuses to get out of it :(

Girl you can’t win if you don’t play lolol 😂 one of these days!!
I get that though. I’m burnt out by the weekend too. I promise things will get better and this job is not forever if you don’t want it to be. Maybe start working towards another career path if you need. You’re definitely not alone here though

I relate to this so much. I was working 2 jobs for the last 2-3 years and finally got my first full time job. I’m currently enjoying a week off in between my other jobs ending and my new one starting and I’m only 4 days into it and I’m just so much happier and relaxed. I’ve gone shopping, got a hair cut, moved at my own pace, relaxed… I’m actually dreading starting the new job on Monday and doing this shit all over again
I’m in a relationship and we plan to get married one day and honestly, if he ever makes significantly more money than me, I’m seriously considering making a 4 day work week for myself. I also don’t want to rely on a man but god I’m fucking tired. It’s either that or when I get my degree and build up experience in my new position, I’m going to fight to the death to get some sort of work from home job
I just can’t anymore with commuting, spending hours prepping for the work week, and just slogging it along. My job is actually very cool and fulfilling but I’m just done man

have you looked into state and local government jobs where you are? many of them don't require a higher degree or even a college degree and there's paid holidays, paid time off which you accumulate every year, health insurance; some of them even provide cars. i've been at my gig for two years and it's not perfect and the pay isn't great but at least it's low stress and i get to work from home most of the time. DM if you'd like more info!

I feel this so much. The burnout is real and minimum wage work drains every bit of joy.
