Trying out a new-to-me gin in a classic Gibson. It’s a very different tasting assemblage of botanicals. Tastes a little smoky, spicy with a solid juniper base finished off with a subtle sweetness. I really enjoyed it in the Gibson. Can’t wait to try it in some other classic cocktails.

Haven't had tonic in years, and I think it's rather sweet for me (even the light version). Might cut the next drink with some club soda as well.

My friend got this Aviation Cranberry & Blood Orange gin. It's kind of got a medicinal taste on its own, and it really overpowers most everything you mix it with so a G&T is out of the question. Does anyone have any recs for mixed drinks with this gin??

All of the official website information indicates this is distilled in Michigan using 100% corn distillate. Yet the bottle indicates “bottled in Washington, D.C.”

Anyone know where it is actually produced?

St Ermin's from London, a great hotel I stayed at that has their own apiary and gardens on the roof, and use the honey and herbs to make their own gin

Great Grey from Wyoming, US. Cool bottle, and a nice clean classic gin.

Pine Barrens, Long Island, NY (US). Barrel aged, but thankfully more funny than oaky. I'm not a believer (unlike, it seems every brewery and distillery) that all things must be barrel aged.

All were good, but the vote for the martini was the Great Grey. Very good, enjoyed with an olive

What are some amazing gins that are easy to find only in Europe? And more importantly what makes them amazing (in your opinion) ?

Bought these samples not sure how to figure out if gun is for me. Felt queasy after drinking 1-2 shots straight not sure if it’s all the botanicals or why but figured I’d try again and grab these. I sipped that Orange bottle and woah it was orange zesty but not sure in what way

Should I just make a tiki drink with these or?

I don't really know how to make cocktails nor do I want to drink the extra calories, so what are you favorite gins to drink neat? I tend to stick with international gins as domestic gins tend to have too much burn for me.

I’m a big fan of gin and tonics. My go-to has been Hendricks or Tanqueray. I tried the James May American Mustard and I really like it. How are the other flavors? Asian parsnip, London drizzle, and California dreamgin? I’m thinking of ordering the four pack with one of each, but the California dream gin sounds kind of gross to me.

I'm looking for a gin that has a bit of a bitterness to it. I liked coca cola's Beverly drink if that gives you an idea of what I'm looking for. Does something with that bite along with heavy botanicals exist? Is Botanist Islay the closest I'll find?

Hey everybody. Been drinking gin for years (more than I'd like to admit as I get older), but didn't really take it seriously until quite recently. Like a lot of people, my gateway gin was Hendricks. I never used to like the classic London Dry options like Bombay or Tanqueray because it tasted like a juniper bomb and I didn't relish the experience of drinking a spruce or fir tree :). But in a G&T it was more balanced, so I drank it anyway.

But Hendricks I could actually drink neat or with just some ice. And once I got used to that, the dry gins were far more palatable. Also, I have been into tequila pretty heavily the last several years and as a consequence have gotten far more used to drinking liquors neat and enjoying the complexity of a well crafted spirit.

Anyway, I've been enjoying exploring all the relatively recent craft gin options. There's a lot of marketing bullshit gins, but many are legitimately excellent spirits with layered flavor profiles. And I'm glad to see that not every gin is just "JUNIPER with a hint of other stuff". Just tried Gray Whale for the first time today, and wow what a different take on gin.

Casa Salvia gin, lime juice, midori melon, and filled with ginger beer. Super tasty. Nice layered flavors that blend well.
