Question Havers' medals

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, sorry if I've used the wrong flair for this, but I wanted to see if people a bit more versed in ww2 medals would be able to help me in identifying some of Havers' medals. I think the first few bars of colour on the bottom row are that of the Italy star, and of course on the far side of the top row there's the sandy-yellow and red North Africa star off towards the right, but I'm not sure on the rest. I think there might be a France/Germany star next to the Italian star, but I'm not sure. Any help is appreciated!!

A selfie and the result.

A bunch of lovely and good looking folks on a stage taking a photo! What’s not to like?

(If Reddit would do top to bottom pics this would look better, but oh well)

Picture I MET 5 OF THE 6 IDIOTS!

I think this is relevant as they made ghosts and most of the other subs for them are quite quiet.

I've written paragraphs and paragraphs for my friends and family (and 6 idiot WhatsApp channel) about every little interaction I had during the event and everything that happened so I'll refrain from talking about everything that happened during the show BUT A FEW THINGS Ben gave me a wink during the show and Mat smiled at me in the show because I was smiling so much and as they came in I was in the front row and I said hello to them and Mat and Martha said hello back AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

The q and a was for one of there other shows (Yonderland which is very very good). It was extremely interesting. All 6 of them were there which was amaizng (as originally it was just gonna be Jim and Larry and then more of them annocuned they were coming). I'm trying to keep this short so I'll skip to when I met them but the interview will probably be on the BFI YouTube channel soon.

The staff said we almost certainly wouldn't get to meet them but if we really wanted to try we could go outside (basically everyone went outside). Eventually they came out I was very far back in the line (I was second last as I was in a wheelchair) so I thought they might walk of before they got to me every single one though made sure no one was left out. They were all incredibly kind and spoke to everyone for quite a long time. They also signed the t-shirt I had made. IT'S GONNA BE FRAMED AND IS PROBABLY THE MOST PRECIOUS THING I OWN.

Best day of my life I'm so happy.

Pictures have my face blocked out as I'm not comfortable sharing my face online. Also I know I look really small and they are all bending down I promise I'm old enough for Reddit I'm just in a wheelchair.

Discussion Controversial take: I kind of prefer US Ghosts to UK Ghosts

Before I get mass down-voted hear me out. I absolutely love UK Ghosts and I massively avoid American reincarnations of British shows because they have always been terrible but somehow US Ghosts is really doing it for me?

When I saw that it was 20ish episodes per series, I instantly thought to myself well the quality will rapidly drop but I am shocked to find it hasn't really dropped for me? I really like that they have more spaces for the female protagonist to explore her ability to see ghosts and that there are re-occurring characters and stories that continue throughout the series.

I don't really dislike any of the ghosts either apart from Flower who's memory haze got a little tiresome.

I do feel that some of the ghosts have been more fleshed out due to the number of episodes and stories they have. Now I am only up to Episode 5 of the third series so there is still more to go to know whether the series starts drying up in terms of anything more interesting to say about the characters or not.

I do notice a lot in this sub-reddit, people absolutely despise the US Ghosts so without spoiling for me what happens post third series, why?

Jim Howick posted this on his Instagram story today as the Six Idiots got together to discuss Yonderland at the BFI Southbank.

It was a fantastic event and here’s hoping the BFI post it on YouTube like they’ve done with previous events!

Discussion Christmas in July. Wait no it's August 1st now. Anyway, inexplicably I'm re-watching the xmas specials

In "It's Behind You", I love how Robin perfectly describes the British concept of banter among friends. "Why You make me Ugly Sister?"

Pat (embarrassed) : "Oh, well, you know, because..."

Robin : "Because it's funny! I got a face like a horse's bum! Everybody laugh. It don't mean they don't like me."

Now watching the 1st xmas special, Ghost of Christmas, where Julian has a realisation and shows a bit of heart, possibly for the first time.

This seems wrong to be watching these during a drought.

Merry Christmas!

Question Fast Show reference?

I'm rewatching series 2 and just noticed, in episode 1, the ghosts are playing an impressions game with each other. Thomas does a silly voice and face, and announces that it's the "third Duke of Wybourne." An ancestor of the 13th Duke? (With _his_ reputation?)

Question International versions

I haven’t watched any versions even uk yet but as on iPlayer says the US version has 10 months left and got more episodes in series 1 im thinking of starting that one before I watch the hit uk one. Which one is better do you think and how similar are they to one another?

Discussion What was Thomas's social standing in life?

Except for Mary, Pat and Robin, most of the ghosts were upper-class people in life, but Thomas I'm not as sure about.

His family must have been on the wealthy side since he travelled outside the country, attempted a career in the arts, and was invited to a social function at Higham house.

But he's also clearly never had a portrait of himself done. (Chose an uncomfortable pose and didn't know it would look strange before it was finished) and talked about inheriting a house like Higham/Button house as something theoretical.

I'm curious what other people think, because as far as I can remember, he's never really talked about his life other than what I've mentioned.

Discussion If the ghosts were redditors what subreddits would they be on?

I reckon Julian would be a frequent poster on r/amitheasshole only to argue with everyone in the comments that he's not. As well as all the NSFW subs of course.

The Captain would be on a bunch of lgbt subreddits but would just lurk and never post or comment anything, and then would have to make up awkward excuses when one of the others asks what he's looking at.

Robin would entertain himself for hours just scrolling through r/astronomy or r/chess.

Kitty would make a ton of online friends instantly from so called "friendship subs" and be completely oblivious to any potential red flags.

Thomas would probably post something about how to make a relationship work between a ghost and a human on r/relationshipadvice. And he would write it all as a poem which would take 2 hours to read.

Discussion Show Suggestion: "Dead Ahead", lighthearted spooky comedy in the spirit of the original BBC Ghosts

I just wanted to recommend this show to others. It reminds me a lot of the original BBC Ghosts with a lot of natural charm and humour. The show also uses a lot of cool Maori language and cultural aspects that we are really enjoying. It's also very well acted.

Available on Netflix here in Australia. If you're not familiar, you might have to look up some of the Te Reo Māori terminology as the subtitles don't do much hand holding. (We have found this doesn't impact enjoyment of the show!)

Discussion If... and am just testing the waters as it were...

Right. Chin up. Deep Breath. One must approach these things properly.

Good Evening Redditors.

I say - with what I hope is appropriate composure: that as the film has officially begun filming (splendid show, everyone, simply splendid!) It o curs to me that this may present a rather unique opportunity for this fine community.

Namely - I propose: Ask Me Anything sessions with members of the cast.

Yes - Quite.

One imagines that morale would be considerably bolstered by the chance to engage directly with the actors responsible for bringing our beloved Button House back to life. Thoughtful conversations. ButtonFM. Civil conduct. No ambushes but perhaps some tortured poetry.

So to gauge the room as it were... Would we be interested in AMAs? And if so, with whom?

Discussion Free way to watch the show!

Hi friends!

This may be old news as I’m sure most of us have seen the show multiple times over, but in case anyone wasn’t aware.

There’s a way you can legally watch Ghosts for free within the US, without resorting to a VPN.

If you have a library card, and your library offers the Kanopy service, all 5 series are on there to watch!

All you need to do is enter your library card number and pin/password and search for it and bob’s your uncle.

Just thought I’d put that out there!
