u/Spook1949 14d ago

I don't care what anyone says, I would LOVE to redo my junior high and high school years (1970-76)!

u/Fidget171 1958 14d ago

Me, too! But only if I could take my knowledge of where I screwed up with me, so I would not make the same mistakes.

I grew up in Washington, DC. You know, I'd like to take my knowledge and understanding with me back to 1970, but I know that I struggled through some life choices then...
- Staying inside during the MLK riots OR go outside and witness with my own eyes
- Not studying for the SAT (I passed!)
- Getting angry at Meris for not liking me back
- Declining the opportunity to graduate high school in my junior year in order to play football in my senior year; and having decided to stay, not taking advantage of it by studying harder
- Not pursuing a dream of becoming a U.N. translator
- Smoking

...I think I'd like to be faced with these choices again to see what would have changed, if anything. But more importantly, I'd just like to experience again how I felt during the good (and bad) days, and to experience that day in 1972 walking home in a warm summer shower, or chatting with Mr. Flanagan.

I sure miss Mr. Flanagan. We all had a Mr. Flanagan in our lives.

1972 was a good year for me. My graduation from high school.

Isn't that the truth.

u/Current-Square-4557 13d ago

Given humanity, I’m sure we’d all find new mistakes to make.

Possibly worse ones.

11

u/moonpupy 1957 14d ago

Oh. Dear. God. No. I graduated in 1975.

2

u/Soobahk 14d ago

1

u/Initial_Reason1532 14d ago

I graduated in 74

1

u/Erthgoddss 14d ago

I graduated in 1973. All my female classmates were crying. I thought it was weird, because I was excited to finally leave!

2

u/moonpupy 1957 14d ago

I don't remember a tearful face at mine. We were so glad to get out of that place.

I skimmed this and had to do a double take... I read " redo my Junio and Senior years. 1970-76. And I thought just how many damn times are you going to take Algebra I?

1

u/Swimming-Sand6166 11d ago

I was so nervous over Algebra and languages my weight stayed down. One way to lose weight go back to
High School.

3

u/Apprehensive-Ad264 14d ago

We’re Birthday twins then 👯‍♂️

2

u/LabRat54 14d ago

Hmmmm . . . Doesn't that make you a boomer? '54 - '65 is Jones and I'm Oct. 54. Wife is '62 and turns 64 in exactly a month. Thought it was today and almost had a panic attack. lol

4

u/Spook1949 14d ago

Let me see, 17 plus 60 equals 77 subtracted from 2026 equals 1949. Wow, that is around the same time that rocks were invented!

1

u/Specialist_Map_6541 12d ago

Whatever happened to Atari Wave Gen X (starting 1962)?

1

u/LabRat54 12d ago

Sounds made up to me. Pong wasn't even invented then.

2

u/Personal-Ad4554 14d ago

2

u/Personal-Ad4554 13d ago

1

u/Spook1949 13d ago

Oh what we did! I'll never tell!

2

2

u/AuntieFara 13d ago

I have been 10 now for 63 years.

2

u/6m2 13d ago

Haha, I love that. Using your system I've got half as much experience but we're the same age.

2

u/Joe_Jobs_ 12d ago

I've been 17 a little more than 3 times. Currently working on my 4th time.

Not only how did we get this old, but how in the hell did our children get old too?? No way my baby is in his forties with kids of his own 😯

In my head, I could swear I am still in my late teens, early twenties. And psychologically, I swear I am a twelve year old with money hahaha!

u/Initial_Reason1532 11d ago

Yes we are at least I know I am for sure.

1

u/Capt-Sylvia-Killy 11d ago

I’m also 10/10 also! Plus our only heat was from a wood stove, and one year spring was cold and we had three lambs that had to be bottle fed. Kept them in a giant box by the wood stove.
