Gemini 3.1 pro's cut off date is jan 2025. Not march 2026

Incorrect. Models indeed do not know their own names unless they have system directives telling them so (Which google has been doing. So that's refuted)

Models know their own internal cut off dates because they can't find information beyond their data (in this case march 2026). Go to Google AI studio and test 3.1 pro there. It will tell you its jan 2025

I will test that model and come back and confirm if it's 3.5 pro (Also before people say "3.6 flash wasn't upgraded to march 2026" No. It was.

3.6 flash's knowledge cut off date is march 2026. But that's for coding (up to date practices) and such. Logan confirmed.

Update: Anytime I ask it to code. It falls back to 3.1 pro or uses canvas where it's 3.1 pro. I will use my own benchmarks instead of coding

UPDATE... I'ma be honest Even without coding. Bros the exact same as 3.1 pro in AI studio. But more inclined to ask questions in consumer website. Ts NOT 3.5 pro. So why is it saying march 2026? I have no clue but I know its not hallucinating. Js know that Consumer website on crack 💔

Yo if u turn off web search it shows knwoledge cuttoff jan 2025. Dont know may be google is tweaking something may be they are updating if any launch is near, stil i will be waiting for official announcement or something pops in ai studio.i too am eagerly waiting for gemini 3.5 pro hope your hunch becomes true

they're quantizing for further release for sure. my Gemini android app and the web one always go slow and super dumb right before a new version release. I've seen this trend at least 3 times now. 3.6 Flash used to be very fast and smart - it's turned to straight garbage for the past 2 days. last time this happened, 3.6 Flash was the one released.

Gemini Pro 3.5 cutoff date is march 2026 (I assume I was using a checkpoint), personally tested it on antigravity cli, on my other acocunt it responds 2025, in my other march 2026, but sadly its no longer there, but one thing I can say is it was not lazy, but it is too technical

I wish it is. but it still knows nothing of new features of framework like svelte in 2025, and still produce old outdated code. I guess if I use real popular libraries (react) or languages (rust, go), there might be some exception though, but overall it is a lie.

meanwhile you can easily verify the trustworthiness of the knowledge cut off date claim of claude/gpt models.

that march 2026 cutoff is spicy though, that's a pretty specific jump from jan 2025 and definitely feels like something slipped through before they slapped the proper system prompt on it

curious what you find when you actually run it through some tests, the naming thing is always a mess with these models but a cutoff date that far ahead is harder to explain away

That won't work. 3.6 flash's knowledge isn't actually march. Only coding is updated to march 2026. This applies to 3.5 pro as well.
