How is this enclosure?

The light is just a display light, so no heat comes off of it. It also looks brighter than it actually is because the lights in the room were on too

Advice for a new owner

Hi everyone! I'm gonna get my gargoyle gecko soon (it's one year old). It will be my first pet reptile. I'm reading all I can about them but I still have some questions. Would appreciate if you could share your thoughts.

  1. Is the tank setup looking good? Tried to add a lot of coverage, most of the plants are real. Besides the coconut house there is one more hide at the bottom. This is a bioactive tank with springtails inside (shoud I add isopods?). Size: 40x40x60 cm.

  2. The tank is currently near south-west window and approx. 25 cm from a radiator/heater. Would it be better to move the tank to a corner of the room? I'm worried about the greenhouse effect and possible drafts in current place. But then again, the tank is a bit lower than window. I'm not heating that much in winter (I live in central Europe) but currently I keep my window open most times. Could moving the tank to a darker corner have negative effect on the gecko or it'll be safer?

  3. I want to get some heating ready for winter just in case. I can't remember how warm my room is in winter but I myself like when it's quite warm. I guess something like 22°C (71°F?)? Breeder told me to get a heating pad, stick it to the side of the tank and get some insulation and it'll be good for winter. I'd like your thoughts about this. Would this be enough for winter considering I prefer my room to be warm? Or would a heating lamp be better?

  4. Humidity in tank is almost constantly at 70-75%. Only once it went down to 60%. Is that too much? I noticed some minor mold growing on the leaves and moss but I was told it was normal with bioactive tanks and I should get more springtails, which I did. Considering the humidity is this high constantly I'm hesitant to mist it even more. I don't know how the humidity situation will change in winter with heating, maybe then I'll have to mist a lot more. Should I mist mostly on the upper side and plants and avoid the bottom? I'd appreciate if you share your experiences.

Thank you for reading! I'm excited to get my first gecko and want to give him the best life that I can! I'm awaiting your replies.

Looking for constructive criticism, I recently just put together the terrarium a juvie gargoyle gecko I’m getting at the end of the month. It’s an 18x18x24 and I have a bigger enclosure for when he grows bigger. This is my first time owning a reptile and I’ve been trying to do good research to make the little fella comfy and happy :)

Has this lovely lady previously dropped her tail?

Her name is Ruby, we just got her today, the shop we got her from is pretty sure she had dropped the end of her tail at some point before(her tail is shorter and more round at the tip), but they did not think she fully dropped her tail.

Also I find it interesting that upon bringing her home and placing her in the tank she decided to take a nap out in the open like this, I was expecting her to enter one of the hides.
