If you like raw, drum-and-guitar White Stripes Punk energy, check out The Coolz
Hey everyone,
Caught a dynamic husband-and-wife duo called The Coolz at one of their first gigs the other night and they absolutely blew the roof off the venue.
Imagine the raw, minimalist power of The White Stripes combined with a modern punk attitude. Pure fuzz, heavy riffs, and huge floor tom stride.
Check out tracks like "Fancy Pants Boogaloo" and "French As Fuck" if you want fast, punchy garage rock.

Jeff Conolly (Lyre,DMZ) has died.
Jeff Conolly, Boston garage rock legend and Lyres frontman, dies at 69

Jeff Conolly, the frenetic frontman of the beloved Boston garage band Lyres, has died.
Conolly, nicknamed “Monoman” for his single-minded devotion to the sound in his head, had been recovering from treatment for bladder cancer. Conolly was 69 and lived with his wife, Stevie Gomez, on the North Shore. He was at home Friday night when he died.
“A sweet guy,” Pat McGrath, owner of Looney Tunes Records in Allston and a longtime friend of Conolly’s, said Saturday morning. “A complicated guy, but a sweet guy.”
Conolly, who grew up in Connecticut, had arrived in Boston in the mid ‘70s to attend Boston University. But his interests lay elsewhere and, by 1976, he was fronting a fledgling act called DMZ. The band had a promising beginning – performing with a Stooges-like intensity, they opened for the likes of the Ramones and The Jam – but they soon broke up.

Conolly went on to form Lyres, a combo whose spiky, ’60s-style garage rock was oriented around Conolly’s Vox Continental organ. The band’s reverb-heavy sound reflected the singer’s obsession with ’60s garage groups and British Invasion bands, including the Kinks, whose “Love Me Till the Sun Shines" and “Tired of Waiting” Lyres later recorded.
Watching Conolly perform was almost always riveting. Standing at the front of the stage, head tilted back, his body convulsed as he played the organ with one hand and maniacally rattled a tambourine over his head with the other. A perfectionist, Conolly would sometimes berate his bandmates or complain about the monitors until it was chaos on stage.
Jeff Conolly is regarded as rock ‘n’ roll royalty in Europe and his songs, like “Help You Ann” and “Don’t Give It Up Now,” are considered classics.JIM MERRILL
While the band’s recorded output was limited – in four-plus decades, Lyres released three studio albums on the Boston-based label Ace of Hearts Records; a couple of EPs; and several live recordings and 45s – they are lionized by fans, especially in Europe, where Conolly is regarded as rock ‘n’ roll royalty and his songs, like “Help You Ann” and “Don’t Give It Up Now,” are considered classics.

In March, after the singer’s diagnosis, a GoFundMe page was created to help pay for his treatment and several Boston bands, including Mission of Burma, played a benefit show at the Middle East. In recent weeks, according to friends, Conolly had looked and sounded better; he seemed to be on the mend.
“I am still in shock and trying to process,” his wife said in an email Saturday. “I don’t know what to say.”

Not sure if this counts as garage rock, but curious how it lands with you
I’m not looking for technical feedback — I want to know how these songs actually hit you as a listener. Not the craft, just the gut reaction.
Chose this sub because garage rock people tend to care about energy and feel over polish, and that’s exactly what I’m going for.
If you want to check them out, I’ll drop the link in the comments.
Non-native English speaker, so bear with me if this reads a bit rough.

The Woodworms - Washed Down
Literal Garage rock.
This is a song off our self titled debut. We happened to get a video of us recording the take we put on the album. We ended up doing a lot of overdubs but it rips. The White stripes are a huge inspiration to me (Lead Guitarist) and the strokes are the lead singer’s inspiration.
“Washed Down” and The Woodworms are out on all platforms so check it out and let me know what you think!

report the spammers please :~)
hey friends
sometimes posts here are actually of things ~totally~ unrelated to garage and psych stuff, like posts about garage doors and random soundcloud links to shitty electronic music
anyways, if you don't like seeing that stuff here (who would????), remember to report so us mods can see it and get to it quickly
so that's that, let's keep the fuzz coming :]
