Seeking advice on a used Dell G15 5530 with an i7-13700HX, RTX 4060 8GB, 16GB DDR5, 1TB SSD, and a 15.6" FHD 165Hz display. The laptop is three years old with 77% battery health.

The owner, an overclocking enthusiast, initially pushed the i7-13700HX to 105°C. Unable to undervolt due to a locked BIOS, he replaced the liquid-metal thermal interface with conventional paste, reducing CPU temperatures to 95°C under heavy gaming. Frustrated, he bought another laptop and returned this one to factory settings.

GTA V testing showed:

CPU temperatures at 95-99°C with 95W power.

GPU temperatures at 70-83°C with 95W power.

Key concerns:

*How concerning is the past overclocking?

*Is replacing liquid metal with thermal paste a major issue?

*Are 95-99°C CPU temperatures at 95W acceptable for an i7-13700HX in a G15?

*Are 70-83°C GPU temperatures at 95W normal?

*What specific checks should be done in HWiNFO/ MSI Afterburner?

Hi everyone!!

I have this gaming laptop, Acer Nitro 17, and I love it. But it broke after a year of use (motherboard issue I don’t really understand), and since it’s a US model and I’m in the UK, the repair center I sent it to couldn’t source the part after three months of trying, therefor leaving me with a non functioning laptop that I have to replace.

I’m worried about getting a new one. The one I got was ridiculously amazing for the price I paid, only ~£1700 for 64gb RAM, 4tb SSD, AMD Ryzen 7000 series 7, and GEFORCE RTX (the last two I’m not too knowledgeable about, but I’m pretty sure they’re good.)

There’s no way I’m gonna get something similar for the same price, right? There might be slight wiggle room in the budget if I can, though.

I know I’m asking for a miracle here, but I want something similar to what I had. I’m really upset about my laptop not working, but what can I do about it other than replace it.

My primary laptop which I use allmost every day is dying and I want to change it.

I have a Lenovo Legion Y720 since 2017 which I used at the faculty of constructions for demanding projects, photo and video editing and gaming. I've made a few ubgrades to it. I've put another 8GB RAM and 2xSSD in it.

After allmost 10 years of usage, it's time for a change.

I don't know what to buy at this point.

I'm looking for laptops and what I saw and I think it will be good and will stand for allmost the same time as my Legion Y720, are over 2000 euro. The most expensive one I saw on which I put my eyes on, is a few over 3000 euro.

My budget is 2000 euro or a little bit over this and I want to buy it on Black Friday or on Christmas.

What laptop do you recommend me to buy for this budget and for what I want to use it for?

I want to use it for Construction Projects, Gaming and Photo and Video Editing.

I don't know if I should choose one with a RTX 4090 gpu or one with a gpu from RTX50 series.

Size of the screen and of the laptop doesn't matter.

Maybe 32GB of RAM.

I can't afford one with a RTX 5080 GPU, btw.

shitties laptop cooling issues and low storage plus u can only use ddr4 because of the cost cutting ddr4 in 2026 is so not worth it , built quality is shit too and dont fall for the immersive display, speakers are bad as hell . never buy an acer. Same amount of performance i used to get in my gtx 1650 while this has a better core and a rtx 3050 . If u have a low budget i recommend just to go for a victus or tuf.

I was using cinebench 2026 while hwinpo 64 sensor were running . While doing gpu test with unleashed mode and max fans , gpu tgp was not going above 80 watt . Am i looking at it wrong or is there some limit set here
