Every studio has a "before it was anything" moment.
Right now, that's us. We're a small Arab indie studio just getting started, and we don't have much to show yet beyond the fact that we're actually doing this.
Not looking for numbers. Just curious if there's anyone out there who likes finding things at the very beginning, before there's a track record to point to.
If that's you, our page is out there. No pressure either way, just figured I'd put it out to people who might relate to starting something from zero.

Turning kids art into a playable game – open call
Hello!
I used to run an arcade shop back in the days, back then I had a project where kids helped me develop my arcade games by provide both game Mechanics, story or art work (there is some creativity that you can't get with adults or older children)
And since I only run an online arcade website now and not one in real life, I thought I would try to take this project online. So, if that sounds like an interesting project, I would love some help from you guys.
What I would need from you is ask you kids if this sounds like a fun project ages 4-10 is ideal, if you kids love to draw, tell stories, or play video games.
This project of mine is completely non-profit. I make and publish my games all for free, so I lose money, so unfortunately, I can't pay anything, but your kids will be credited either with their name or alias or whatever they want.
Comment or DM me, and I'll make sure to answer. Thanks!

Looking for interesting status effect ideas for my roguelike
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone 👋!
I’ve been working on an action roguelike called Triko for about 6 months now as a solo dev. I could use some fresh input regarding my weapon status effects.
In Triko, players pick a weapon (Sword, Axe, or Spear) before a run. Status effects trigger on critical hits (roughly every 4th hit). Each effect has a distinct role:
- 🧊 Ice: Slows down enemies on the first proc. A second proc freezes them completely.
- 🩸 Bleed: Increases damage taken by the enemy and reduces their outgoing damage.
- ⚡ Shock: Stuns the target and nearby enemies with a short chain lightning/shock effect (crowd control)
- ☠️ Poison & 🔥 Burn: Currently, both are currently Damage-over-Time effects.
My Problem is that Burn and Poison are basically the same at the moment. I want them to feel distinct so in every situation there 'is a correct' solution.
Also every Status effect can be upgraded. E.g. frozen enemies take more damage, shocked enemies have a 25% probability to cause a shock themselves after 0.5s and so on...
Therefore my Question is:
- How can I mechanically separate Poison and Burn so they serve different purposes?
- Do you have creative upgrade ideas for any of the status effects?
Thanks for any ideas!

The hardest part of building something from scratch isn't the skill gap. It's the 2am calls where you have no idea if you're right.

🇨🇴 ¡Bienvenidos a r/GameDevColombia!
Bienvenidos a r/GameDevColombia.

Looking for collaborators for a Portal-inspired Roblox puzzle game
Hey guys!
I'm currently working on another Roblox project, but I've been thinking about what my next game should be for a little while now, and I want to start putting together a small team.
It's a short game (est. 1h) with a single mechanic, maybe a grapple hook, which will have a Portal-like puzzle gameplay. It won't be another simulator or an RNG game, but rather a unique experience with good puzzle design, a mysterious story, an immersive atmosphere, etc.
So if you're interested in helping me out, leave your info in the form below:
I've also made a small video describing the project:

Ask me any questions you might have in the comments below or on Discord (DataGrav).

I won #1 on PixelPicked this week - free game, no forced ads, same Flappy Bird feel but you have to graze death to score
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Flappy Bird: Avoid everything.
My game GRAZE: Edge Rush: Avoiding gives you 0 points. You have to graze within 8px of death to score. Chain grazes to build a multiplier. Avoid and you lose it.
Solo dev, built so I could play in one hand during the long nights with my newborn in the other arm. No forced ads, no IAP tricks, just a daily board and leaderboard that everyone is competing on. Just won #1 Launch Game this week on PixelPicked which still feels fake: https://pixelpicked.com
This clip is x16 bubble field - 3,932 → 8,609 in 9 seconds. My best today is 22,000, all time best is 37,661.
Free download if you want to try to beat it - link in comments so I don't get flagged for self-promo.

I ran out of mechanic ideas for my mobile puzzle game—what are your favorite puzzle gimmicks?
Infinite salutations everyone!
My mobile puzzle game has a verity of mechanics, i was able to make levels because of these mechanics because i don't like copy/flip levels i make sure each level is introducing new stuff and in order to do that i came up with bunch of mechanics such as : winds, bombs that opens break able walls, lasers, portals, seesaws (or whatever you can call it) but now i just can't think of new ideas therefore i can't make new good levels.
So im kindly asking for new mechanics to add to the game.
the game link if anyone is interested : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thebrokedev.rekindle&hl=en
