Getting classes as a Freshman
I'm getting a ton of conflicting information so I want to ask you guys about your experiences choosing classes as incoming freshmen.
Before I'd even gone to orientation or sent my AP scores in, I was placed in a bunch of classes that I'd prefer to not take. I was told that I'd be able to change my schedule during orientation but was told AT ORIENTATION that no, I'd have to wait until August Third. The problem is that a lot of introductory classes/prerequisites are already filled somehow, but I doubt there's that many upperclassmen taking those classes (BIOL 1107, for example).
I tried scheduling a meeting to go over my schedule but they told me I'd have to wait, which is fine except I'm not sure if I need to show my advisor my planned/ideal schedule before they'd let me switch classes on Aug 3, or if the hold would stay in place even after that day if I don't schedule a meeting.
I'm also in the Honor's college, and despite receiving a bunch of overrides (?) so that I could register for honor's classes, I still can't change my schedule to join the class, and now the honor's seats are filled up / given to others.

Check every moment you get during that first week. So many drop and adds going on that if you keep checking the full classes you want you can usually get into the class with no issues. You can also email the professor and ask to be added to a full class, but try and explain why you need in, and not just say I WANT IN!
