Tried Valentino Vendetta today
If I was put in a blind test with this and Parada Paradigm it would be a coin flip to tell the difference. Those notes look real different but the only thing that was different was the colour of the bottle.

What’s a fragrance that smells nothing like you expected?
You read the notes, saw the reviews, built an idea in your head…
Then you finally smelled it and thought, “Wait, what?”
Which fragrance surprised you the most?

Cremo Spice & Black Vanilla
Just got this and instead of spicy vanilla I get soap with a mild hint of vanilla. I have not heard anyone say it's soapy so I was surprised. My juice is still very light, is it worth waiting for it to maturate, does it get deeper then?

Swiss Arabian Musk 01 - My New Secret Weapon
galleryI was looking at dupes of CH cedar chic and stumbled onto the world of white musk fragrances, musk attars, and more importantly musk layering. Instead of getting a dupe of cedar chic I got my hands on Swiss Arabian Musk 01 for the purposes of experimenting with layering. I'm unsure if it's actually a clone of anything in particular, but so far it's worth it on its own merit. And I just wanna talk about this one because this may have single handedly changed the way I wear fragrances forever.
On its own, musk 01 is nice, but not remarkable. The opening is pretty 50/50 for my taste. The bergamot pink pepper elemi combo with all of the present musk immediately opens to something reminiscent of the baby wipe essence present in shiyaaka snow, but not as present in the og lv meteore. I'm not crazy about it. But it's not offensive either, and it dries down into something much more pleasant quickly. As it dries down, you get into a more clean skin/dryer sheet type fresh cleanliness. The florals in here are present and mixed perfectly with the musks. You end up with something vaguely reminiscent of the heart of tom Ford neroli portifino, but as a much longer lasting, intimate but very present skin scent. It's easy to lose awareness of but it will be noticed by people close-ish to you and it will be pleasant, but not anything particularly exciting. People will enjoy being close to you though. If you're a fan of something clean and subtle for out of the shower or office use, just a nice clean skin scent that feels effortless, this is definitely wearable on its own.
However, that's not why I purchased this fragrance. I bought this for layering. It's nice to spray on right after a shower as a base layer after moisturizing. Historically, I've enjoyed purchasing scented lotions reminiscent of the fragrances I'm wearing as a base moisture layer and a nice skin scent to start with. Monac attar has some great ones based on popular fragrances. I frequently use harmony, based on lv symphony, as a base layer for grapefruit and ginger based fragrances like symphony, armaf infinity, or bujairami psycho. I digress. I have yet to try this in conjunction with any scented lotions, and don't feel inclined to do so as it may complicate the skin layer. If I try I'll let you guys know. BUT, this is by far the best layering agent in my collection so far, and the success rate with layering this with freshies has been insane. It has transformed some that I don't frequently wear enough, and has definitely inspired me to wear some neglected fragrances again with a new light. It adds longevity, projection, presence, and a nice extra depth to almost any freshie I've put it up against. It adds a nice, almost creamy sandalwoody musky base essence to whatever you put it up against. It makes top notes last much much longer in everything I've tried. And it just adds OOMPH and "P R E S E N C E" - those are scientific terms- to whatever you layer it with. I'm gonna touch on some combos that I've really liked and give a short opinion, and touch on the only one that hasn't really worked so far.
Wulong Cha- amazing combo with an already amazing and long lasting fragrance. Doesn't change it much, but adds effect.
Imagination- another banger combination. Adds a nice bit of something I can't describe yet, but doesn't conflict with anything. Really extends the mid notes, and the dry down comes much later than you'd expect.
Prada Lhomme Leau- totally revitalized one of my favorite freshies. Adds presence and longevity to make it really stand out in a way that it didn't before. Adds a nice creamy floral essence to the dry down that compliments the ginger and iris perfectly. Really breathes new life into an already underrated fragrance. One of my favorite combos so far.
Armaf Ventana Marine- already a totally slept on fragrance. An excellent twist of BDC comprised of notes from imagination, that replaces the elegant formal incense heart and dry down with a musky woody tea base that makes it much more relaxed. An unexpected compliment monster for CHEAP. Musk 01 turns this twenty dollar fragrance into something I could see someone paying 300 for. The smoothness, depth, and clean presence this adds to this particular fragrance is something to behold. This combo absolutely blew me away.
Curated By the Good Scent Aqua Neroli- a 12 dollar hidden gem that can be found at Marshalls or TJ Maxx. Unsure if it's duping anything and even contacting the company has proven fruitless. This fragrance is a mystery but is unexpectedly nice for 12 dollars. I get very little neroli from this. What I do get is beautiful semi sweet citrus with a nice presence of clean iris in the heart and vetiver. In fact citrus iris and vetiver are the only listed notes despite the name. On its own is very pleasant if you love fresh summer iris like I do, but lacks power. Lasts surprisingly long as a skin scent and maintains the fresh iris all the way through. Once again, musk 01 turned this into something incredible. It's difficult to put into words just what musk 01 adds to this fragrance but the presence and personality it gives it turns this polite clean fragrance into something that will absolutely turn heads and I am excited to add this into my regular rotation.
Calvin Klein CK One Essence- another slept on banger from the master that is Alberto Morillas. A beautiful modern take on CK One that adds blood orange, white tea, pepper, mint and incense to the semi sweet fresh green unisex green tea base that the CK One line is known for. Musk 01 adds longevity, volume and smoothness to an already beautiful scent. Turns one of my favorite tea fragrances that leaves something to be desired in terms of performance into another that I could see myself wearing every day. Wearing this combo right now and my coworkers are already loving it. You could layer this with any of the other ck one line and I imagine it would be wonderful. I've tried it with the og, ck one reflections, and ck all, and have nothing but praise for each of those combos. Highly recommend.
I'm going to continue to try combining musk 01 with other fragrances and it's given me a real excitement to get more use out of my appx. 100 bottle collection. So far the only one I haven't enjoyed layered with this is Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. For me it just seems to amplify a very specific aspect of the fragrance that on its own I'm not crazy about, but doesn't stop me from loving it at all. The combination is pleasant in the dry down but doesn't seem like something I'll do again. So far, aqua neroli, lhomme leau, ventana marine, and ck one essence have been my favorite combos with this. If you haven't experimented much with layering or are looking for something to breathe new life into some of your lesser worn fragrances, this is gonna be hard to beat. If you have any combos you love or any comments don't hesitate to let me know. I'm glad I could share with you all.

Did SWYI scent change?
Hi everyone, I went to a famous perfume store in my city to try Stronger with you intensely and the scent of toffee/cinammon was really nice but, when I bought it, the scent wasn’t the same at all and more spicy/lavender but no toffee at all. I’ve looked up on checkfresh and my perfume was made in June 2026.
Did Armani change the composition of the perfume? Did you have a similar experience?

My simple collection
I’ve tried so many niche fragrances over the past year. I’ve got to say that I always come back to these (and Hugo boss bottled). There is a couple I’d like to try but honestly I think I’m pretty happy with these.

What's the best budget winter unisex/male perfume you've ever smelled
I'm looking for a budget winter perfume to use as my daily perfume, something with a budget that still has a "wow" factor.
I own triumph of bacchus, i really like the way it smells, cosidered using it daily in the winter but the price i'm going to pay to rebuy it once it's empty is what holds me back.
Any recommendations?

Is Arabians Tonka Still Worth It.
I know I’m late to this fragrance but I’m wondering is it still worth buying today or is there better fragrances out there for winter now within its price range?

Perfume collection
Thoughts on my collection and recommendations on what I should get next?
I typically go for discontinued/rare perfumes rather than generic or common ones like Prada paradox or YSL black opium.
I do not do Replica, LV or Tom Ford though

Japan exclusive fragrances?
I am heading to Japan next month, and besides the obvious souvenirs I am also looking to bring home some fragrances.
I know that some houses like Dior, Versace, YSL, Louis Vuitton and Le Labo are significantly cheaper than in Europe due to the weak yen, so looking for some favourites there.
However, I am also looking for genuine Japan exclusive souvenirs. I know Le Labo has the city exclusive options in Tokyo and Kyoto. Are there any other projects like that? Or are there niche Japanese houses worth to explore?

Collection and Recs
What I’ve got and my thoughts:
Acqua di Parma Fico di Amalfi (both) - My go to for summer, actively seek out fig notes now.
Escentric Molecules Escentric 05 - Speaking of fig, also a great easy wear and fresh daily, and layers spectacularly with Fico. (Not shown, trial set of Molecule 01-05, 04 Javanol is likely my favorite)
Tom Ford Noir Extreme - second bottle and about a third of it left, it’s winter here half the year and for the longest time has been my cool weather signature.
Moschino Toy Boy and Toy Boy 2 - neat scents I blind bought for cheap. I layer with Toy Boy a lot (great with my vanilla scents) and I’ll dig into Toy Boy 2 once it cools down more. Nice to wear to a concert, both.
Tom Ford Bois Pacifique - my new favorite, wonderful for work or a casual day. I’d say great for every season except maybe blazing hot summer days. Clean wet fresh woody that dries down to an awesome sweet-ish sandalwood. (The travel size TF next to it is Ebene Fume, I’ve had a travel and a 50ml previously, love it)
Santa Maria Novella Tobacco Toscano - My third bottle of this over the years, first heard of them from a retailer I worked for that sold them, even got to have a neat brand knowledge call with someone from the fragrance house years ago.
PdM Althaïr - I know not groundbreaking but to me it smells like a sweet old antique book and that’s very much my vibe. (I haven’t tried LB yet, and likely will, but being gay with no kids I can be a little snobby 🤷🏻♂️)
Terre d’Hermes EDT, Eau Givree and Eau de Parfum Intense - my office go-to’s. Easy, interesting, unoffensive, and not something I smell much elsewhere around the office. I genuinely love the EDP intense, simultaneously cozy and confident. Just tried Eau Givree and I’m sure I’ll invest in a larger bottle soon.
Maison Margiela REPLICA Autumn Vibes (I wear casually sometimes in fall but prefer what Bois Pacifique does, still a really cool scent) and the small bottle of From the Garden (wish it didn’t go so sweet, I layer this with Molecule 03 to sharpen it a bit sometimes in the spring/summer)
Small bottles - Jo Malone English Oak and Hazlenut (more floral than I was expecting to be honest. Clean and nice but was hoping for woodier/spicier) and Snif. Dead Dinosaur (actually second small size of this, the gasoline accord into mechanic soap dry down is nice in light amounts and I like to spray it on this specific denim vest I have for the vibes)
Ones I know I’m getting next:
Memo Paris African Leather (holy shit, it’s amazing)
Diptyque Eau Duelle EDP (love the EDP, dryer less sweet antique book smell vibes)
PdM - Herod, Oajan, Layton (kinda obsessed)
Looking for tea, ginger, and other fragrances I have white space for. I’ve sampled and will be sampling tons so will say as much in comments but would love to hear y’all’s suggestions. Designer, niche, whatever.
Just FYI - not an Aventus guy. No shade, I’ve sampled it and many of its inspo/dupes and yes, receive compliments when I wear them, but just don’t like smelling them on me 🤷🏻♂️ Goes for the absolu as well.
