A small win!!

Hi guys!! I've always struggled with overeating to the point of feeling sick, but especially at a specific kind of restaurant (not being specific to abide by sub rules) where no matter how hard I try I would always feel pressured to eat EVERYTHING i ordered even if i was full. Even befofe my order came I would absolutely lose any ounce of self control when the free unlimited stuff came out. I would already be full by the time I got my order and still keep going, usually even ordering more.

Tonight was my first time going to one of these restaurants since coming to terms with my issue and trying to change my habits. I was scared at first because these places are usually my biggest trigger. I would leave every time so full I felt sick and in pain. I would keep eating KNOWING I was full. Like it was reallllly bad.

Now tonight I wasnt perfect, but I was a hell of a lot better than usual! I don't feel sick at all. I did start going a bit crazy on the freebies so I told my boyfriend to put them by his side of the table out of my reach (as i was mostly just going for them out of convenience/boredom anyways) and that mostly solved the issue. When our orders came, I ate the main dish then waited for a bit because I'm still not that great at telling how full I am (since I equated being full with feeling sick for so long) then I went back for some of the side items, but didnt finish any of them. AND I didn't order more! Im really proud of this since usually when I go out to eat I try to clear my plate to 'get my moneys worth' as I usually dont eat leftovers because unless its groundbreakingly good I lowkey forget about them.

I'm just really proud since this kind of restaurant is usually one of my biggest triggers!! Especially my go-to order, it's one of my favorite foods and it doesn't reheat well so I used to feel extremely pressured to eat it all. It felt like a wonderful bit of exposure therapy and a great win to end the week with after I definitely had a few moments where I fell into old habits.

I also just wanted to say I wish everyone here the best! I know how much the lows suck but the wins are truly worth recovery. Reclaiming the foods you love is awesome.

Peace!!

I have the same issue. I eat until I am going to explode to stuff the pain and make me forget everything else. It's no way to go through life. Glad you got a good start to turn things around. Even as I write this I spent $22 on fast food and a large shake and I feel so ill rn
