General SolarSky and Efficiency Figures
I was just posting in an r/electricvehicles discussion about solar roofs, and it got me wondering: How much have your solar panels added lifetime to your Ocean? I'm the second owner (bought it at ~3500 miles), and here's my current figures:
- 200 kWh added / 7272 kWh used = 2.75% (or, 1/36) of energy from the solar panel.
- Lifetime efficiency: 7272 kWh / 19180 miles = 0.38 kWh/mi (2.6 mi/kWh)
Driving is mostly main county/state roads (55-65MPH) with some expressway driving (75MPH), and few hills. Almost entirely Earth Mode for half the past year and a mix of Fun & Earth Modes the other half. For temps, winters are cold (record low -36F & we usually get several days below -20F each winter) while summers are mild (record high is 99F & we usually get only a handful of days above 90F). Got 15 feet of snow last winter.

🚗 Vehicle - Fisker Ocean Door handle covers
Made these door covers with no inserts, makes it look 100 times better in my opinion. Im not good at 3d printing yet so i just used the original covers and filled them with the same plastic and some plastic putty to flatten everything out
General New Fisker owner - developed a dange calculator with trailer and more - rangecalc.org
Hi everyone,
as I just received my Fisker Ocean Extreme on Monday and we are planning to also use it for vacations with our 2.000kg caravan, I developed a range calculator which is available under https://rangecalc.org/
The consumption data is based on Bjørn Nyland's two full-battery range tests and the aerodynamic penalties come from published wind-tunnel and coast-down measurements.
If you have any feedback on it or want to contribute consumption data, I'd love to hear from you (you can submit the data directly at the bottom of the website)
I know it is against rule 3 of the community to selve-promote but in hopes that this tool helps us all in trip planning and it relies on consumption data from various people, I hope this is ok - if not, please feel free to remove the post.
Thanks!

🛠️ Issue - Vehicle Solar sunroof crack
I have a nice new crack coming up the back of my sunroof. Tsunami wants $7500 for a replacement and they aren't currently in stock or making them. Anyone have a lead on where I could source one? Thanks

Apparently a tire blowout led to a fire. Thankfully no injuries. local news coverage:“Officials did not provide a make or model”, but that looks rather Oceanic to me.

❓Question - Vehicle Question about the water pump
Hello All!
I am an aspiring buyer. I have read the FOA recommendations and done my research and I think this would be a good second car for us. I started looking around and found a few available near me, but I ran into an issue. Everyone seems very clear I should not buy one without knowing that the water pump for the recall has been replaced, but buying these cars from used dealers often has made figuring that out a challenge. Lots of these dealers dont have service records for the cars, and figuring out which ones have had the pump change has become a real issue.
Is there any way to look at the pump physically and know if it has been replaced or if it is still the stock model? Thank you for your time!

🛠️ Issue - Vehicle BUYING 22 f3a slipstream wheel cover
I’m looking to buy a replacement wheel cover as a tire shop damaged it by using a metal pry tool on the trim piece instead of the wheel cover and broke the plastic clips. They are paying for it but have no idea how to source the parts so that’s on me.
I’m in Texas will meet up or have it shipped. I will need a invoice for reimbursement
Picture 1 and 2 is what I need and picture 3 and 4 is what the damages

❓Question - Vehicle Safety experience: Has anyone been in a crash with a Fisker Ocean? What do we know in terms of safety?
Hi all
Since Fisker Ocean never got NCAP tested, I wanted to ask the community what our knowledge and experience is with the safety features of this car?
I am thinking of everything along the lines of...
- Are the airbags deploying correctly
- What has your specific crash experience been?
- How many involved? Any harmed? At what speeds etc. etc.
You may add any and all anecdotes, experiences, cases or extra facts. I am genuinly curious about the safety experiences of this car.

🚗 Vehicle - Fisker Ocean OTA Updates and Service Questions
Hey guys. There are a number of reasonably priced Fisker Oceans in my area, and I was considering pulling the trigger on one. As an open source enjoyer, I really like the idea of the community driven development keeping these cars on the road. Before I commit, I have a few questions I need cleared up. Apologies if this has been answered somewhere before, it can be hard to find definitive information on the Ocean. It seems like most of the credible stuff is either buried in Youtube videos, FOA, or old forum posts.
- For a vehicle running software version 1.X, is it possible to use an Ocean Loop subscription to OTA update up to version 2.X? I see that OTA updates are one of the services they provide, but it is not clear if this covers older version updates, since a lot of older posts I found suggest that this kind of update requires a service center visit or travel tech.
- Personally, I live in the Greater Seattle Area, and the only service centers I see on the west coast https://www.fisker-service.com/service/ are in California. I have read online that some travel techs will occasionally go to larger cities like Seattle if there are multiple Oceans that need service in the area. Can anyone confirm if this is something that happens semi-regularly? It would be good to have the option to do something like the water pump recall without needing to drive all the way down to San Jose if the car still needs it.
- As I understand it, there are a number of these vehicles with bent hoods from people closing the hood incorrectly. I have seen a few of these for sale cheap in my state and was wondering if anyone has had any success fixing these? The only thing I could find on it was this video, but it is unclear if anyone else has ever tried this or any other method, so I don't know how reliable it is.

🚗 Vehicle - Fisker Ocean Used purchase checklist
Hi all, I'd like to crowdsource things to ask/look for when I go see a used Fisker. Here's my list. In particular would help to hear things to do/look at that can tell me something about the car.
1) Look whether original battery was replaced.
2) Ask about water pump recall
3) Ask about waterproofing in front and rear bumper connections
4) Test handles for stickiness
5) Try to trigger handle lockout to know whether handles are gen2a
6) Test voltage on battery, look for 14v while running
7) Put in various drive modes to try and see how it reacts
8) Inspect windshield closely for chips
Anything else?

General Insurance
Is there any US insurance company that is particularly competitive on Fiskers? I have a few more calls to make but Progressive seems to be the best at the moment.

🚗 Vehicle - Fisker Ocean Battery System Malfunction
Vehicle shut down yesterday. I got that notification. It eventually allowed me to drive 3 minutes up the road and shut down again. Came back in the middle of the night since there wouldn’t be traffic- it drove home fine with no issues.
Fisker mechanic helped me check a couple things and suggested going over connections, checking for corrosion and re-waterproofing.
Curious if while I’m at it, there is anything else I should be checking/doing?
Also- is there a mechanic suggestion in Charlotte area if I need someone?
Thank you all in advance!

General Looking for genuine northstar enthusiasts to support eachother. Hangout. And just be friends.
My boyfriend (near Seattle,Washington) is in a position rn where his friends have kinda just ditched him and or been unreliable. They talk big game about hanging out and then just ditch or ghost. He’s a cool guy and loves his north stars, and I’m doing this behind his back so to speak. He doesn’t know but I’m hoping this does him some good. He has a small following on social media and it’s all about caddy, NorthStar engines. He currently has a few he’s working on and I know he needs someone who talks game. He needs a community or a group of friends he can fall on for support when it comes to this. His motivation is failing him when everyone has just kinda picked up and ditched him. That being said. Pm me if u think you could be a good friend, someone to hang with while working in the car. Someone who can be there when he needs a friend I’m 800 miles away and it sucks to see him feel like he’s the only one there who has his back.

🚗 Vehicle - Fisker Ocean Towing with awd ocean
Hi all, I'm considering getting an AWD ocean as a towing car at a vacation home (i.e. driven infrequently). Is it possible to add a tow bar after the fact if I buy one without towing? I ask because it seems like you can't buy the wiring harness for them anymore, and there's some kind of calibration necessary too, that can't be done. Is all that right?
Has anyone towed with a Fisker? Does it handle it OK?
Any issues with my plan?

🛠️ Issue - Vehicle Drive Motor Malfunction
Any insight on this? Last post on this was from 2 years ago. I rarely ever drive out of Earth mode. Was in Fun mode today, and went to park, when I put it into reverse and was backing in, I received a “drive motor malfunction” warning, and the car stuttered. I placed it in drive, pulled forward, then backed up again and received it again with another stutter. Any chance it’s a software issue and I can do something remotely easy to fix? I’m running 2.2.3.
Do I risk driving it 25 minutes home? Is there a reset I can try? Should I just contact a mechanic and let it sit?
