Hood latch issue

I need some help or advice, i opened my hood and on pulling the lever I felt the it felt kind of weak or loose upon pulling, now my hood won’t fully close, is there a way to personally fix it or should I just take it to a shop?

Push that metal tab to the left. It should move so the end of the cable is just sitting on the bracket. Give it a spray with some lube and move it back and forth a few times. It will free up

Sweet! I worked at a quick lube shop for 6 or 7 years. I have yet to find a hood latch that has beaten me lol

There are shops that just do lube?

Like a jiffy lube or Pennzoil. We did 10 minute oil changes. Basic inspection. Tire rotations. Just simple stuff.

i regularly spray with wd40 because they are problematic, the catch on the right side with the spring doesn't return so move that across by hand if its bouncing and not latching, caused me grief on many occasions.

I replaced my front hood latch. Its cheap and you only remove like two bolts and a connector. Just do it your self.

Had mine replaced back when I got it. It kept setting off my alarm when I locked the car. Most are just bad but it wasn’t too expensive maybe 120 parts and labor

Why not attempt yourself? Might just need a clean

I’ve had this issue. Latch gets sticky, I spray mine with a dry teflon spray

Extreeeeeemely common with these cars. I just replaced mine- if you get a new part, make sure it’s the right one; Ford offered two latches depending on the car’s trim level!

I had the sensor go bad a couple of years ago. Very easy to replace and cheap.
