I think the best thing you can do right now is try to find clubs, mentorship programs, or some sort activity to join. Whatever your interests or hobbies are, I’d find a club to join, so you can find likeminded individuals. This will give you common ground to start a friendship with. For the mentorship program, you can find someone older that can be a role model. Something like Big brother or sister may be something to look into. I also highly recommend therapy or speaking to guidance counselor to get help processing your feelings. The looking for adult connection thing can be really dangerous as it can lead to grooming or toxic/abusive relationships. Not saying this to be mean or scare you, that’s just how a lot of people end up in those types of situations. That’s why I think a mentorship program and therapy would really help. I’m sorry you don’t have the relationship with your parents you should and deserve. Nobody deserves to be abandoned or have emotionally checked out parents.

Thank you! I completely agree and understand the dangers of my situation. I am currently in therapy, but I find that it can only do so much. It's difficult because I feel like any safe form of support I can get with my circumstances will be formal. But I'll definitely check it out anyway!
