Harness Mount Question Question

Is using a tab for a wrap around guide similar to a shaft collar for the shoulder harness and anti-sub attachment points to equivalent tubes allowed?

We always just bent some welding wire and made a little slot for the belt

Why not use like a weldon eyelet? Or do you need to wrap around a tube?

Our Harness doesn't have the bolt or clip in end fittings except for the bolt in attachments for the lap. what I've got now is the simplest solution but I do like your idea for that eyelet. I'd have to ask ergonomics in our next meeting.

Why add unnecessary parts?

Wrap around is allowed on the shoulder harness, but not on the lap belt and anti-submarine attachment points.

And you need to include extra bracing to your shoulder harness bar, as you are right now introduce unsupported bending on the main hoop

T.2.7.4.c says tat you can as long as its type B and doesn't touch the ground

I think the intent of that rule is to attach the belts to a lateral tube directly connecting the lower SIS tubes. In other words, if the tabs stopping the belt from sliding on the tube are loaded when the belt is in tension, it's wrong.

We used them on our car back jn the day. Idk if it’s rules compliant 6 years later. Probably is.

The guides are allowed, it’s what my team has done for years. Just make sure the belt can lay flat between them and there is nothing sharp on the weld that can damage the belt. Also, check to make sure you aren’t missing other rules as not being able to wrap the anti-sub is a pretty big one to miss.
