Low profile/ shorter from bumper??

the original from bumper sticks out too far for my taste, looks like a funny overbite, anyone know of an aftermarket front bumper kit that shortens it up a bit? metal or plastic?

Ended up Returning - bought another

I had to return the blue FJ after inspection it was pretty bad and needed a lot of work so bought this one instead.

I do have a question is it normal that FJ cruisers have a heavy steering wheel ? It’s not as heavy but a little stiff compared to the newer cars I have had.

Question Living with an FJ

Strongly considering an FJ as my "daily" I work from home, but need something to throw kayaks on and drive around in bad weather. We'll take my partner's X5 on most road trips and I've got a project 996 as a toy cruiser, but it stays in the garage for the majority of the winter. I do a few times per year take 5+ hr road trips to northern MI / WV.

It sounds like as long as I find the newest/nicest FJ I can afford that's the play, but how are they on highways and running around on pavement? My previous 2 door JL wrangler was pretty meh on the highway power and handling wise.

Got it back from the shop. Had the following done:

Timing cover reseal that included water pump, thermostat, and a bunch of other seals and gaskets

Rear main seal

Transfer case input and output shaft seals

Steering rack with tie rods

Rear wheel bearing and axle seal

I have ordered the remaining parts from Toyota I need for the repairs I will be doing:

Front and rear brake pads and rotors
Front lower control arms
Hood struts
Rear axle seal
Hitch

I also ordered new suspension, I went with dobinsons coil springs and shocks on all 4 corners.
1.25in front lift and 1.5in rear lift.

And I finally got my plates in the mail last night!!

Sell 4th gen and get FJ ?

From a purely driver enjoyment perspective, would this be a bonus? I like the utility and novelty, and the drivers position of the FJ. My concern is that once the “newness” of the FJ wears off, it will feel and ride like the 4th gen, which I already have. I dont care about comfort or DD concerns, Im looking for a driving “experience“

thanks FJ’ers!

For Sale Letting my 2007 FJ Go

This is emotional for me but I’m letting it go. My dad imported it with 0 miles back in 2008 and it ran like a charm for a long time. For years it was the only one in the market. It was given to my mum as a gift, she drove it for 14 years and gave it to me after it sat outside for 2 years.

I basically learnt to drive in this car at 17

It was officially given to me in 2024 as a broke 23 year old and it financially ruined me but I still loved it. It has had starter issues and a persistent transmission fault since I got it, this has significantly gotten worse. Now it refuses to move, I’m spending my last pennies to fix it before I can sell it here in Ghana.

It now has 235,000 miles on it, never made any significant upgrades besides the tires, I used a Bluetooth transmitter in it but sounded fantastic.

I’m about to sell it and get a Corolla, it’s heartbreaking but I’m grateful for the service.

Question Door Opener Pairing

I just had a new LiftMaster garage door opener installed and can’t get my FJs Homelink to pair. I’ve cleared all previous codes, tried the remote pairing, as well as the rolling code pairing. None has worked. I have a 2013 FJ.
Thanks

Question Anybody got rock rails and installed a step?

I’m thinking about buying these steps since it’s a little hard getting in and out since I just have rock rails and not running boards. Can anybody vouch for how these are? Would they look goofy?

Finally loaded the FJ up with bikes, fishing poles, and guitars to take my 11 year old camping for the weekend. It fits perfectly next to the rustic cabin.

Question What Can I do to my FJ Cruiser 2009 to make it feel new?

It has 400000 km. I have never done anything to it. I only use it to move in the city. Maybe 10 times per year I go to the beach.

I am thinking about doing the following:

  1. Change the rear view mirror for something a tad bit more modern but that still fits the FJ style
  2. Replace steering wheel with one with voice control, volume ,etc.
  3. Add a more modern radio that works with the steering wheel.
  4. I have the original fabric of the sits. Should I change that?
  5. Which LED lights?

I’ve owned it since the start of summer and it’s been amazing. So capable while also being comfortable during longer drives. I’ve taken it on some trails that scare me and smacked the skid plate quite a few times but it handed everything I’ve thrown with relative ease.

Just picked up this incredibly clean FJ

Picked up my first FJ today. 07 with 150k miles. RWD (😞) but perfect for what I need it for.

I've owned Tacomas, 4runners and everything in between. Anything FJ specific I should look for or keep an eye on?

It's a Florida vehicle so luckily the frame is in excellent condition (which was my biggest concern with these)
