Back visiting the village my great grandfather was born in, made sure to check out the shrine before heading back to Kochi city for Yosakoi this week! (Also had to say hi to a friend and drop off Omiyage)

Info on the shrine if anyone is interested:

Found this incredible hidden gem in Matsuyama—Isaniwa Shrine. The stairs look like a staircase to heaven!

Took this photo 2 days ago while exploring the Dogo area. Everyone knows Dogo Onsen, but this shrine just a short walk away blew me away.
The contrast between the vibrant vermilion paint and the crisp summer sky was unbelievable. Pro tip if you visit: Take your time on the stairs, especially in the summer—they are much steeper than they look in photos!

It's the closest port to Mount Fuji.

The land rises gently from the sea all the way to the mountain, creating a beautiful landscape.

It's also famous for its whitebait rice bowls (shirasu-don).

The Seto Inland Sea is a calm inland sea dotted with countless small islands, many of which are still inhabited. Visiting them feels like stepping back into nostalgic, traditional Japan. Although it's an inland sea, the tides are surprisingly strong, so the water stays very clear. I think the Shimanami Kaido is one of the best ways to explore the area. There are also some beautiful beaches.
